WHAT DAMAGED MY TVS APACHE RTR 200 4V ENGINE? NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG CARBON DEPOSIT CITY VS HIGHWAY

  • I experimented with my TVS Apache RTR 200 4V to check the difference on the deposit on the sparkplug to analyse and compare the combustion environment based on city and highway ride. The color of sparkplug reveals a lot about the combustion, it is not just about the rich or lean mixture but also about the effects of riding conditions which the engine goes through. In this experiment the TVS Apache was first used inside the city and the sparkplug condition was checked where I have shared my city riding experience along with the fuel efficiency test on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. In the next part of the test the Apache RTR was used only for highway ride and the observations were shared which also includes the sparkplug electrode colour and fuel efficiency.

Important thing to keep in mind, Rtr 200 has Projected type spark plug, If you go to random websites, they do not take these things into consideration. there are many variables taken into consideration when a manufacturer chooses a specific spark plug type. If you wish to change it, do refer Manual from the manufacturer as well as NGK's website.

There are other more products as well but I would highly recommend you the above two as :
The first one is a very very good replacement for MOS2 shooter.
The second is still I am testing but seems better than the motul one.

Firstly, yet another simple yet informative video 👏
What you touched is so true, my bike after a tour runs ever so smooth untill the bumper to bumper traffic puts it back into roughness after a few days! 😅
I feel alot of clutch use generates alot of heat and degrades the oil faster which also contributes to deposits! I might be wrong.
But yes, my duke delivered 38 to a litre on highway and i wish it did the same in city 😁.
Speaking of deposits, i just had one question. My bike is almost 120k kms old with regular and sometimes early services done all these 9 Years. Would it be ok if I did a chemical engine flushing in the next oil change or will it likely affect the sealing of the engine as it's quite old now?

On the other hand Yamaha has a history of being decently reliable...

Any tip to avoid wind buffeting/ wind noise..?

    • @offpoynt4747
      @offpoynt4747 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Bend down on the tank
      2. Buy and fix a windscreen/ wind visor on the bike.
      3. Buy an aerodynamic sport helmet. Gonna be expensive but really worth it especially if you do long distance often, and also from a comfort point (in car you get leather interiors for comfort, and in bike your helmet becomes the interiors)
      4. Wear clothing that is firm in the wind. Loose clothing can create drag. (example - well fitting jeans and a riding jacket along with gloves. When riding with hoodies or a normal shirt, the flapping of the clothes creates noise and also contributes to instability of air that you can feel)
      5. When at high speeds, pull the legs and feet inwards to reduce the drag
      6. Buy and wear a Balaclava. It makes a huge difference
      7. You may also purchase and use ear plugs to cancel out sound, but it can also be dangerous. There are earplugs built for motorcycle use and even the custom fit ones but they are very pricey. I'd rather wear the balaclava because it also keeps your helmet fresher
