Not true, his voice is being processed inline for those high parts, there is also some delay to thicken up the sound. If you heard the clean voice track it would sound quite different.
You can even tell he hears it himself while singing in the ear monitor. He maybe able to hit all the notes but he's still using it as a safety net in this performance. In the studio version that might be all him but likely using multiple tracks without and autotune\melodyne.
That is not true. He had a cold and the producers of Conan put autotune on his voice during this performance. That, was the only damn place he went off tune during the entire thing and that's why it's so easy to hear. Dude is a beast and was pissed that they tuned him. So you're mistaken here. There was autotune that the singer didn't want or need, but it's there.
@@rytterl true that. auto tune on Draiman? blasphemy! he didn't want it, didn't need it and he absolutely didn't approved of it. David Draiman, his voice is not just a God gifted talent, but it also discipline, hardwork and consistent. He trains literally to get that voice.

This man could sing the "ABCs" and I'd be emotionally moved! One of the best singers of all time BY FAR💕
Drainman is his name. He doesn't use auto tune. He can inflect his voice from his throat to his mouth. He trained extensively to be able to do this. Notice the clear baritone vocals then he moves the sound to create the raspy heavy metal growl. He is phenomenal
For a hard rock artist to do true justice to an iconic classic hit is a real achievement, his power, his passion, his intensity is just amazing, this guy is truly a musical genius with unbelieveable range.
Its still amazing to find out that he had a fever and pneumonia during this performance and still gave an amazing live performance
This is what a classically trained singer can do live.

I think the people that react to these videos need to know the bands and what they are known for. This song is totally outside the box for Disturbed, and it was fantastic! His voice is incredible!

This was originally a Simon & Garfunkel song, and has been covered by a lot of people! They liked it so much, they have endorsed this version of their song as the best one, including their own!!

The programmakers did use autotune against David's will, but didn't tell him. He was quite pissed.
He was also sick that night but insisted on singing.

There was only 1 note with autotone somewhere around the middle & he was pissed because he had specifically told them not to use it at all.
The sound engineers of Conan have said NO auto tune and get very angry when they are accused of using it.

I dont have anything conclusive to add, but being a longtime Disturbed fan I can say he does have that odd sound which seems autotune-y, I think it's harmonics from some combination of fry and maybe even false chord, and his head and chest voice, and it's always sounded a bit restricted, so maybe even more stuff with his throat anatomy. As he is such a powerful singer with such perfect pitch and known for strange experimental sounds (Oooo a a a ah!) who knows what strange harmonics hes capable of.
That being said, he was sick and this is corporate television... of course they would autotune any half flat note he sang! Duh!
I heard the Conan show used auto tune because David was sick with the flu and they wanted the song to sound like the studio version. Also heard he was pissed off because of it. Sick or not sick there is no denying the power in David’s voice.
David Draiman is a classically trained singer and has an amazing sound and range. Disturbed is a phenomenal metal band. David was actually under the weather for this performance and yes the producers added autotune without him wanting it. He never uses it. He was irked.

The best description I ever heard about David's voice is "His voice sounds like thunder." and I just get it.

They did have autotune but he had a fit. He didn't want it but he, David Draiman,. had the flu and they were concerned that he would not be able to pull it off.

I have seen him live, multiple times, in small venues as well! Believe me, he's legit!! Whatever auto tune was on here is not necessary nor welcome usually. The band plays small bars in advance of their tours and they don't have to do that! It's intimate and you get to know what they're capable of... David is definitely capable of anything thrown at him and can pull off an arena concert at any time!
Supposedly Conan's producers always put on mild autotune on *every* performer to "make sure" they're singing in key, and this guy does NOT need that, and he was supposedly pretty pissed that they were using it. Check out their studio version of the song for a no-autotune experience.
If you think about it it kinda makes sense but I do understand that it would upset some artists

From the time I learned the English language, this song has been giving me goosebumps every time I hear it.
It always sounded great but hearing its message just makes it that much more grand.
EDIT: As a German the song just resonates with me that much more. Especially the line of "silence like a cancer grows".
You get almost a whole people to be silent while you systematically eraticate another and you get one of Historie's greatest atrocities.
Yes, sure there were a few rebels but they could not do anything without the support of the whole German people behind them, so they failed, either with bad planning or just pure bad luck.
But if a whole people had not been silenced, history might look a little brighter for humanity these days.
And they were NOT just silenced by the the threat of violence! They were silenced by the radio and the TV agreeing with the foul message that one Austrian guy broadcasted. Noone would oppose this kind of majority, right?
It comes from a people jaded by history, being promised a leading role in the history of mankind once again. You know Patriotism and what destructive effects its blind following can have.
The people of Germany made the wrong choice, and it will haunt them forever. Deservedly so.
We try our best to learn from history and not to repeat it, but some of our leaders are still too insecure to see the same patterns in the world that emerged almost 80 years ago, so maybe we still have a lot of work to do.

And it’s scary to me in the states that I am seeing similar behavior coming from the Democratic Party. People are being called to do violence and silencing people for their OPINIONS. Attacked with violence and not being called out by our media! It’s very scary that kids are not being taught anything at all of history beyond a chapter quickly glossed over. We had it Year after year more In depth as we grew. Some don’t believe it actually happened. ???????!!!!!!

Yeah just for less than a second.. On the high SOOOOONG word.. I've heard him do it live without it so he didn't really need it. But it is there once.. For split second.
In an interview he denies using autotune and seemed annoyed that people think he did. He swore it is all his own voice. And what a voice!

Disturbed is one my favorite bands and David Drayman is such a powerful vocalist! PLEASE check out a new track off their new album "Evolution" called "A Reason To Fight"! I battled with a chronic osteomyelitis infection in my left foot and lost my lower leg in October 2017. This song has become an anthem for me to fight and keep going, because thats me and just what I do. I'm a USAF vet and for anyone who has served, we know that surrender and giving up is not in our nature! I hope, as a new sub, that you will read this comment and react to "A Reason To Fight" and dedicate it to those who are struggling with health issues and addiction struggles. Please use the official video, because the imagery and story played out in the video is powerful;, right along with the lyrics of the song...much love to ya brother!

Mark Fox the sound guy from Conan corrected him on the fly. Sorry, you can hear it. Having said that this guy is fucking amazing and lends an air of hope along with the anger for not heeding the original warning of this song.
Dave was sick for this performance. You can see him wince from the pain in his throat. Auto tune was used for this reason.

@@KoreyAusTex Needless to say... Mr. Draiman got absolutely furious with the sound guy after this auto tuning sequence even if ever so small and insignifficant... and from what I've learned gave the sound guy a right good telling off for it after the show, and rightly so.

Disturbed is a Heavy Metal band, I believe. My son, who is an Army vet, was into Heavy Metal before he joined the Army. He tried to get me to listen to them before he joined, but my favorite genre is country, so I didn't listen to them. But I LOVE Disturbed's version of this song!! This was also in the movie "Trolls".
That's all him. Seen him and this son live, multiple times, that's all David.

Totally. In the original video you not only have a better audio version but you also have the visual. The video that they put together for the song has an amazing jaw dropping, emotionally grabbing effect. I love watching first time reactions to this song. I always know when their jaws are going to drop for the first time while listening and am ready for the second jaw dropping moment when their eyes go flying wide open in shock. Lol, so far I don't think any of the first time listeners have failed me. The original video that Disturbed does for this song is absolutely amazing and great in so many ways.

As others have said, David Draiman's voice really is that good. Yes, in the Conan video some autotune was used against David's wishes, but David's range and abilities are displayed for all to hear. He really can do that with just his voice. Disturbed is a 'metal' rock band and that 'raspy' sound is common in most Disturbed music pieces.
Paul Simon, the original writer, and singer, along with Garfunkle, was so taken with David's version of his song that Paul put it up on his own social media page.
Just goes to show, that someone with a good, well-trained voice, is still a treasure in this world. ( Freddie, we miss you! ).

David was classically trained as a Cantor... and has been front man for a metal band Disturbed.
I’m 30 now and I’ve been listening to them since middle school back in 2006, they do more rock music, but he trained. his voice is amazing. Nope no auto tune. Unlike people today 🤷🏽♀️
