Welcome to the large group of reaction video-ers who did not know what they were about to experience. I am 76 and remember Simon & Garfunkel singing this in 1964 and a bunch of other people. It was not until I heard Disturbed's version did I understand the song. Others suggest and beg you to listen to the studio version which has exceptional cinematography to tell the story. This version(3/28/2016) has the 20-piece orchestra while the studio version(2015) is not as full and has only one drum, piano, guitar, and a couple of strings. You might want to check out their "Hold on to Memories".

Transistor radios were out, tv's were more and more out there. Out went family dinners, kids tuned out everything from school to parents because you could take your music and play it anyway you wanted. It was the verge of total complete break down of our way of life. David's version was the answer to the first song. He showed anger because no one took the warning. And here we are today where life means nothing anymore, no respect for law enforcement, or family. Schools have gotten rough to go to. It's going to get so bad that home schooling is going to be the only way to get an education. David done an outstanding job on this song and I hope he reached the point he was trying for. He got my attention. I get goose bumps plus when it's over. I cry for what we have lost. The social fabric of our way of life.
Damn! David Draiman can sing! ...one of the best on the planet imho. He can even put vibrato on distortion! ... which is incredible difficult to do. Sometimes his voice is clear angelic... then on a dime comes the distortion and back... which is really so difficult to accomplish. The man has such control of his voice! ... it's really amazing! It just happens that I don't belong there anymore, so to say. Maybe I got too old 😁😅. But I can still appreciate it just as much, as I said I love this version, as I love all of them that were in the quote above. I feel them to just be different... Hey Sarge! Working for Live Nation, I've had the privilege of seeing a lot of different bands and groups. Besides Iron Maiden, I'm looking forward to seeing Jinjer at an outdoor venue. The best part for me is that I work right next to the stage. It's going to be an outstanding show on July 23. Yes, I'm excited to see disturbed also, but more so for Jinjer. I remember seeing disturbed at Download (UK metal festival) and omg it was so amazing.
Paul Simon actually said after hearing their version, "This song now belongs to Disturbed".

Yeah. The reason David was sitting is because he had the flu and couldn't do the performance on his feet. Just makes it more impressive.
