  • This is an old 14" Tanner wood worker's band saw which is in need of some care. In this video I start the process of restoring the band saw.

Nice restoration, it looks like a nicely built unit in great shape. Great paint choice I love the effect. Cheers!

I have learned how to setup the blade properly. That is the key to cutting straight and true. I will show that in the next video.

Nice job. A youtube trick I found was to put the tyres in hot water first. It made a huge difference.

I like that - worth preserving and putting back into active duty.

That's coming along nicely, I built a camping trailer about 20 years ago back home in Oz and painted it hammertone, it looked great. 👍

Thanks for watching. Yes, these paints are good for uneven or pitted surfaces.

I love the hammer tone paint. I used it on the table for my bench top mill. The brand I used is Rust oleum. I had to spray it because when using a brush or roller it is really stringy and impossible to brush or roll on. It looks like the brand you used brushes well. Thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, this paint does brush on well. We also have Rust Oleum here in NZ. I use a lot of their paint in spray cans.

Looking good Jon. Not so sure about the blue paint though. 🙄 Classic black! 😅 The worm driven tilt adjustment is a great feature.

I wanted to do another colour because I already had a lot of blued parts that are black. Yes, it does look a bit retro with the blue colour.

Are you going to change the pulleys to slow it down for cutting metal?

Thanks for the question. No, I already have a metal cutting band saw for that. This band saw will be solely for cutting wood for the wood projects I will be doing in the future.

Hey there, viewer from chch. Where in NZ are you? Where do you get your cold blue/selenium dioxide from in NZ?

      Hi, I'm in Auckland.
I hope you were not affected by the earthquakes down there.
I got the Perma Blue from Reloading Direct. They were the cheapest back in April, but I now see that even their current discounted price is about $17 more than what I paid. Like everything in this country, the prices just keep going up...
