Yes for sure. I have watched video shot at Alta/ Snowbird. I have been fortunate to ski there for a long time and it’s steeper and more challenging than it looks on video. Also snow conditions and rocks or tree branches under the powder can snag a ski and take you down in a no fall zone.
@@thomasmedeiros5722 Had my first experience with a rock under completely flat unruffled snow on my board a couple of weeks ago. Board came to a complete stop, did 3 flips, and luckily flipped over the rocks 20 feet ahead but cracked my board. New level of respect if I even have a hint there might be rocks within 4 inches of the snow surface, used to just think it was guaranteed to ride over them.
This is the year to hit the Palisades chutes. Epic conditions have opened a lot of terrain. Silverado and Eagle’s Nest are as good as they’ve been in years.
As a Tourist, I skied all these epic chutes back in Feb 1998 after a 2ft dump the weekend before....the Chimney, well it's a holiday ender if you fall. I was waiting to drop in ....and an Aussie Girl was waiting behind me, I was doing the endless pole poke etc....bricking it. She asks me..."hey mate are you going to be long ?? My period is just about to start" ...Classic.
I jumped Palisades in '79 during a HUGE Cornice overhang year -3-4 seconds of hang was UNREAL... I also got to ski with Steve McKinney a lot right after his record in Portillo and hung out with many famous skiers including the guy that lit himself on fire and jumped Tower #18 -as seen in the lead-in for "Malcom in the Middle" TV Show. "Rocket"
The Palisades gives a lovely false sense of security! Took me 2 seasons to hit all of them in 1 seasons. 1995 there was so much snow that chimney was easier than it ever should have been. Love the Palisades. Head over to Cornice 2 after you master that butte
You forgot to ski over Beck's Rock. Seriously, this is such a compelling video, cogent, actionable commentary before, during and after each run. 4:24 had my heart in my mouth. I can quit watching Corbet's videos now and just watch this channel.
As soon as I saw that snowboarder go heel side dominant, I knew what was going to happen haha. Toe side has more precision, and I find it WAY easier to bite my edge in more efficiently.
air jordan at whistler maybe more intsnse than chimney...not sure what conditions are for being a "run', however. yet a line that occasionally fills in i think is fair to juxtapose to air jordan.
Thanks for the vid! Just moved to the Tahoe area and I am buying skis for next season, what width skis do you consider for the region? I am between 98s and 106s
Yeah this is one of those camera doesn't do it justice situations.
Exactly, one can,t appreciate fully the angles, conditions, temp, etc from camera.

Winter 2022-2023, as of the latest storm this March, the chutes are all filled in and this area is now a bowl. Amazing amount of snow this year.
Main and National are really tough, would love to try them at some point! Extra and (especially) Chimney are a whole different breed of insanity!
National is straight-forward, main is like an elevator shaft

I hiked up there a little bit in between Early season in late season and it’s better to go then because the snow is just so much better
Check out the terrain at sugarbowl, especially their palisades. Extremely gnarly terrain
We're trying! Haven't been open in a few seasons tho :(
Those Palisades I honestly think are sketchier than these.
@@ST19859 definitely
Missing the GNAR pole whacking
The steep stuff always looks easier when you're down below looking up. When you're at the top looking down it is way scarier.
FACTS
geezus. Where is the snow!?
It was may
All those shoots look rather challenging with the icy conditions and medium crud...
And cameras do the factor a complete injustice...
Sherwood and left of Scott's chair at Alpine are guaranteed gnarled af right now. Neverending
Nice ... just as I am about to fly to Tahoe :)
Perfect timing!

🙏🙏🙏
would be nice to see it with some snow on the mountain
You should do a tour of Kirkwood sister chutes. Not as well known but certainly as gnarly
Or just all the lines off The Wall and Wagon Wheel Bowl in general, that’d be really cool!
@Tad Ziemba @Arjun Bharadhwaj on our bucket list!
Shhhhhhhhh! Sister chutes are terrible! As is Kirkwood! Terrible! stay away!

Great video!
Check out, skiing Mt. Evans videos. Pretty gnarly stuff. Used to rope down into that stuff in the summer.
When did you film this?
Last spring.

98s for typical days, 106s are great for the pow!
Get some moment wildcat 101s or 108s!! Incredible skis and they’re handmade right here in Reno!
Was up there in 89 on my 24th birthday
When did squaw change it's name?
September 2021.
When they got woke
Have you skied any of the double blacks at Brighton, Utah? They are actually pretty difficult. Great video! I hope to try those someday!
Thank you! We have done the lift-serviced double-blacks off Milly and Snake Creek but have not hit Elevator Shaft yet 😬
Nice! I skied all the ones of snake creek today! There was some great powder spots In some of them
Also have you skied the run lower down on Milly? I think it’s called spaghetti. It’s pretty tough!😰
I've never skied serious chutes so I may not know what I'm missing, but the payoff doesn't seem to match the risk.
Mt. Rose chutes make those look like blues. Not ripping your skills, you're a pro for sure - especially compared to me.
You gotta straight line main bro turning in there is not the best way down.
Yup was just about to comment this lol. Not enough snow to make turns, especially if you don’t know how to hop turn.
The resort previously badgered as palisades, will be forever Squaw Valkey. SV!
On the first one is that literally what he calls good shape????????
bro went at the worst time. I did national chute with actually good snow
Too bad the Sierra's don't get snow consistently.
Yeah they do

It's Squaw
Always Squaw
why
Palisades? Oh yea, I know where they are, they're between Mt. Disney and Mt. Lincoln. Always have been.
100$+ for that😂 I hate Tahoe area
Sure glad the snowflakes have a new name for this ski area.
The "woke" version of Squaw Valley.
