Hey! Just want to say thanks for the video. My grandson (7 yrs old) didn't know what snow skiing was, so I showed him your video. It was super fun to watch with him,
Tahoe has been snowing less and less each year, yet, skiing and snowboarding are getting more popular in the bay area. Every weekend, ski resorts in Tahoe are packed with people from all over California and Reno.
I know that snow looks way too icy. That is why I dont go on North Star's backside mountains cause they are too dangerous. This vid definitly made me uncomfortable for when i had to snowboard on icy snow in Tahoe.
@@Michael-nc3ib I was up there the week after this video came out. the snow wasn't that icy. northstars back mountains arent that dangerous either, you just need to learn to control yourself on ice. if you want real ice, go ski the east
There is good snow in the right parts of the mountain you just gotta find it. Its not powder but there's def some nice firm wind blown stuff. Just gotta grow a pair and ski it.
Lol Yeah I'd have to say they picked the wrong exposure and wrong location pretty much every run lol haha. Definitely icey looking off of Headwall /cornice 2 area that rarely gets skied when it's like that headwell face would have been better typically skied out & in the Sun
nah bud dw. Ikon pass focus mostly CO, but if you do ski cali, its still prolly fine. This is as bad as it can get, and so far winter has been sick for CO.
I ended up getting the Ikon pass and so glad I did as this season has had some record snowfall for Mammoth and Palisades Tahoe as well as many other Ikon destinations. Sometimes you have to take a chance and pray for pow. 🙏
I skied the palisades in the eighties at Squaw Valley, it was phenomenal. Yes, we had to pack our skis from the highest lift at the time to reach the peak. Snow was in abundance and each day was heavenly.
Dude. You nailed it. Sooo much fun was had at Squaw ALL thru the 80’s, 90’s!🤙🏼🥳😅Was sitting here making those turns with ya. Kinda icy tho, can hear those edges biting. Thank you! 😁👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Too icy on this day. I had so many epic deep powder days when it used to dump every year. decades ago. Good that this year snow lovers are getting the good old day snow amounts again.
@@2drsdan I do when those are the conditions, got better things to do than drive an hour and pay way too much just to survival ride shit ice to prove I m a man.
@@bjbhehir oh ok, thanks, so packed powder makes a scratchy noise? We were at Northstar on Thu, a really hot day, and in the afternoon in the shaded areas, it was really icy and noisy and slippery (less grip, as the snow was all hard) compared to earlier in the sun, so we were trying to avoid shaded areas. So is what we call “icy” still considered packed powder? When is it considered “icy?” Is this just the typical snow conditions there, or are there seasons where the snow is less “icy” than it is right now? And with the warm weather, do you think this year’s ski season will end unusually early? Thanks!!

Only got about 35% of our normal snowfall in winter 2021-22 as you can hear by the sound of this stuff. Yikes.....!!!!! Off to a good start for 2022-23. It's mid-November and already a few feet up high.
I grew up in the Truckee Tahoe area, rode Squaw for 20 plus year. Bay area fools with their bro cams are one of the reasons I left. Have fun standing in line.
I do and it was fine, but deeper snow would be a problem. All mountain skis would work much better in all conditions for steep terrain, I just don't own any all mountain skis.

To be fair this is as bad as squaw could possibly get
