Can't wait to see the storm from last night. Squaw is def a big mountain then they added in Alpine... I've been up there for years and never snowboarded down K-22 or anything on that part of the mountain, I go right up the middle and around that area... but I have done the famous backside... problem with that place is that when there is a big storm on the weekends or holidays it is super crowded with so many people, people from SF because it's 3 hours a away, so on the weekends if there are crowds you want to hit up Homewood and during the week you want to do Squaw... try Granite Chief are and the Siberia Bowls but only on days with fresh snow and not too many people because it will probably get tracked out... the backside has much less of a crowd because it's hard to get to, I rode most of that on my butt to be honest. But be safe because it's a mountain with a lot of rocks and cliffs. The secret to Tahoe is to come up around Valentines day, it has the best snow then... and you want to stay a week and hope you catch a storm in the middle of the week because the crowds can't get off work, and you can do night skiing too... I would like a honest comparison between Tahoe and Utah when you are done hopefully. Like I said I've been going up there for years and only gone to Squaw, Northstar, Homewood... Homewood will give you short runs but full of lake effect powder and less of a crowd so its like fresh powder every run.
We skied Tahoe for 10 days years ago, the views of Lake Tahoe were so ‘Heavenly’, which we really loved. Then we moved to the Cali side & skied Squaw & Alpine for a week. Amazing skiing, Tahoe is the most beautiful place I’ve ever skied! Have fun, Lucas!
I think we should all try going down the hardest run at our home mountain with just left pole plants, just to see how it feels. Hats off to you, Lucas.
Did NOT expect you to do a series on the Tahoe resorts, but yeah this is THE season to do it. Today 12/10/2022 Kirkwood just got 15 inches of fresh snow over the day and it’s still dumping. This season in Tahoe is gonna be one of those that we tell stories of for years to come, I can already tell.
Dude, you gotta come back later in the season when the palisades, Granite Chief Peak, and maybe even Silverado are open. Squaw has so much amazing terrain, and it’s still pretty shallow right now. Seems this weekend will do a lot to fix that though!
Another quality vid Lucas. After watching you now for a few seasons, I’m not taking your vids for granted. Such a quality watch! Have fun and safe travels in Tahoe!
What a fun day at Palisades! I like Shirley lake area when winds are high bec it’s more sheltered. FYI, IKON app tracks all the runs at the resort you do/ski so you don’t have to wonder what they all were if u turn it on at the start of the day
@@LucasCatania17 no it doesn’t drain my phone when running it and the ski tracks app together while skiing (mine has bit bigger battery than others tho). App is fun if you’re skiing w others. If everyone joins your/someone else’s invite for tracking, you and the others will be able to see where the others are if separated (everyone’s face shows up where they’re at on trail map)
Nice one... Palisades was my spot last year. You won't get up too high during the storm, but if you're around long enough next week, hit Alpine Meadows too. There's some great hike-to spots on the front and back. Wind is definitely the enemy of the lifts here in the Sierra. Welcome to California!
Still has low snow conditions. Chute 75 is fantastic as more snow fills in. Broken Arrow is fantastic too. Especially when there is good snow cover and the sun is out. That area can get warm, soft, spring-like skiing even in mid winter.
Never realized how crazy Squaw/Palisades Tahoe was! Looking forward to seeing more of it. Good luck in the storm this weekend, stay warm and cozy out there!
You need to spend at least 2 days at Mammoth if you can. It's a huge mountain with the kinds of runs you like all across the top of the mountain. You should also hit the runs off of Chair 22 (Lincoln Mountain). I am looking forward to your video(s) from Mammoth and your impressions of the mountain.
Content has me so stoked this year man. Just as stoked as all this great weather we are getting. Hope I run into you at Snowbasin or PC one day this season for a fist bump!
I love the way you steer with your arms like you're driving a bus... The bus steering is to me the best waiting to negotiate tough terrain like that Gosh I'm jonesing for some more powder that's on the way

I've skied all over the West, my home is Tahoe and I compare other resorts to Squaw. Jackson Hole is definitely amazing it's sick!! Two years ago I went to Crystal and that place is off the hook!! Amazing!! Lucas, Crystal has camping in the parking lot too!! Crystal might be in my opinion the best kept secret out there, it's a must visit resort!!
classic squaw moment of nearly skiing right off a cliff haha on that note, two of the more gnarly lifts arent open yet but they might by end of next week after this weekends storm. if you stay long enough, look out for when granite chief opens and if we get lucky Silverado will open too!
The first chute you didn’t know the name of is called Classic Chute and the second one is called "The Needle". Both are awesome, some of my favorite runs at Palisades 😁
It's a really stupid thing to do and you can easily lose your ticket if you get caught doing it. I'm disappointed to see Lucas showing idiots doing this on his channel.
The slope you didn't know looked like it might have been Classic chute off of headwall. Slot is also usually slied from headwall express but it was closed
I don't know Lucas cuz that looks a little bit like cement compared to Utah or Colorado but the terrain is second to none what a super treat to be out there today

Skied a lot of places but not Tahoe! It's on my list! Definitely many cliffs and a lot of snow. One can see how the Donner party got stranded way back when. Great vid Lucas!
I feel you talking about the storm. I live in the reno tahoe area and i went up skiing at Mt. Rose today and they expect 115 mph winds and had the main lift closed at the beggining. It was real fun. 10/10 if you know where your going would recommend
