BUT the more I thought about it, as beautiful as that car is, it isn’t mine, and it isn’t a 1 of 100 collectors edition car, while you won’t find another one like that, it isn’t a 1 of 6 made kind of car. You guys didn’t ruin it, you made it fit your wants, you work for everything you have, and if you wanted to cut and crop that car apart, it isn’t anyones place but your own to question it, I’ve honestly liked what you done to that car for two reasons, one your proud of it, and two it MAKES YOU THE OWNER; smile when you see it. Not enough converter or rear gears for that, it's a full dress street car. 12.90sET. or higher. My 355 LT-1 with 390 rear gears & 4,500 rpm converter in my full dress 68 Camaro with 11 slicks went 13 flat at 102mph. You need 4.11s or 4.56 gears to get it into the mid 12s

First off, Ms Vicky's truck looks really good !! 2nd the Malibu is looking sweet setting on those rally wheels !! Now, I'm thinking it'll run around 13.15. Just a wild guess. It's been years since I've ran 1/4 mile race. Our local track here is an 1/8 mile. Whatever it runs have fun, enjoy yourself and please be safe.
I’m going to guess in between 12.80 and 12.90 on the initial passes before you get into tuning the Malibu, and before changing the shocks out too. After that, I definitely see it dropping down to lower. Depending on how that converter acts for you too, that may have an effect on it as well.
it needs a red stripe between the green and white top. 1/4" they make a G body frame notch for over the rear allowing wider tires Not a bad install.. plazma cutter and a welder>>> looks great when its done! G bodys dont allow much tire otherwise

Love all of the improvements on the Malibu, used to have one just like it originally a V-6 but I had to install a small block and a Muncie 4 speed . Looking forward to seeing you run it at the track.
That shifter pedestal has me blown away. Looked for ever to see the install video. I have a bench seat regal in same shape. I dont want to go cutting and bolting if I dont have to.

Figuring about 430 Flywheel horses out of your 355 with current combo ,3300 to 3400 weight, 28 inch tall slicks, stock chassis = about a best of 12.45 in the quarter for the first set of passes at the track. I had a 73 Malibu the same color and It had rust around both corners of the back glass back in 88 and then the cam lob's flatten out and I traded it in.I had chrome slotted wheels 14 x6 front and 15x8 rears and it had an awesome stance.
Truck looks wonderful and I would say the car will probably run mid 11s or faster and billy and big rob are doing a wonderful job the little s-10 sounds really good I can’t wait to see billy building Tommy’s s-10 and it’s wonderful to see everything coming together for everyone in the family
Hi Bill, first off I want to tell you how much I enjoy watching all of your shows , get a lot of helpful tips , i also talked to Terry last weekend at Jegs and told him how I really like how down to Earth all of you seemed , and I know all of you've worked hard for what you have, I wished everyone was like that and have the work ethic that all of you do ., I've got a project of my own going on a 73 SS Nova that I've owned for many years, when I first got the car my oldest daughter which is 39 now and will be 40 the end of October wasn't even a teenager yet when I first had it but there was a time when out of necessity I needed to sell it but fortunately the opportunity came up to buy it back summer before last, I don't put it first but it is very sentimental to me, I also am running a 355 small block very close to your engine combination , mine's running a tunnel ram with two 600 vacuum secondary Brawler carbs and I'm also running 3.73 Richmond gears with a posi unit but it's nothing close to what any of you have, hoping one day that I'd be able to talk to you guys a little bit , and as far as on the first pass for the Malibu I'm guessing 12.40 although I think once you have everything the way you want it I believe it'll be quicker than that, at that point I believe hi 11s or Low 12s , and by the way that C10 is really looking Great ! , all of you that have been working on it, and all of your hard work is really paying off !🙂👍 God Bless all of you

I'm gonna say 12.71, the c10 is looking amazing! You should mini tub the malibu, my neighbor in the early 2000s had a 79 malibu we cut the frame and boxed it in. At the time he ran 9" power adder class and he did pretty well with it. Was a mid 9 sec car on spray which was fast for the time frame.
no hate here because I am dicing up a 41 Ford one ton pickup and rolling with a big block 514. I hope to finish in two more lifetimes... I liked building the engine but hated welding the headers so there is the stall on the passengers side. I have learned a lot from your videos and thank you for that. Donnie
Cant wait to get mine going. Its an 85 limited. 80k miles. Same shape as malibu. Mine is just a 305HO iroc motor with a chip in it and cold air intake. It has a 4" fender exit but thats just to make it cheaper. It does sneeze pretty hard when you let off it. But I think thats just a huge intake leak or something. Maybe brake booster blowing off.

It would have to have a 2.1 60' ft to trap that MPH and not be in the 11's on a more or less stock weight Malibu. That trap speed alone would be impressive IMO. Hope he shocks the world with some old school tricks up his sleeve...

I love that malibu! I have a 79 el camino and ran into the wheel and tire problem also. They make a frame notch kit but man you really have to brace the frame. I bet it will run a 13.18

My 1984 Monte Carlo SS with a 700r4 transmission and 4.10 gears ran 8.8 in the eighth mile with a Chevy 350 420 horsepower engine 8.0 in the eighth mile with the same setup and a stroker 383 460 horsepower engine and 7.5 in the eighth mile with a built LS 6.0 530 horsepower engine
Building sleepers like the Malibu is so much fun! You really ain't hurting anybody's feelings dumping the stock V6 and slushbox trans. Cutting the wheel lips didn't really bother me, but I would have rolled them instead so as not to have that sharp edge. You might have to slow it down however if it goes 11.49 and needs a rollbar. That might be going too far for that nice of an original car.
High 12's, low 13s, its a pretty mild combo with a 750 carb in a full weight G-body with stock running. I think that is a good starting point. Once you start playing with it the performance should take a jump. N2O will be yet another jump.

My guess is mid-12’s first pass and high 11’s after tuning and launch testing. Can’t wait to see it. I forgive you for the fender mods.

Cant wait to get mine going. Its an 85 limited. 80k miles. Same shape as malibu. Mine is just a 305HO iroc motor with a chip in it and cold air intake. It has a 4" fender exit but thats just to make it cheaper. It does sneeze pretty hard when you let off it. But I think thats just a huge intake leak or something. Maybe brake booster blowing off.

It would have to have a 2.1 60' ft to trap that MPH and not be in the 11's on a more or less stock weight Malibu. That trap speed alone would be impressive IMO. Hope he shocks the world with some old school tricks up his sleeve...

12.80 sounds about right honestly, I had a very similar set up in an 86 s10 blazer, it ran between 12.7 and 13.
I love that malibu! I have a 79 el camino and ran into the wheel and tire problem also. They make a frame notch kit but man you really have to brace the frame. I bet it will run a 13.18

Paint those Chevrolet letters on the front matching the roof. Did this on a 59 truck and also painted the engine to match. Tied everything together.
I think having the pinstriper paint the grille letter red to match the center caps and also the Chevy emblem in the steering wheel button would look good.

Building sleepers like the Malibu is so much fun! You really ain't hurting anybody's feelings dumping the stock V6 and slushbox trans. Cutting the wheel lips didn't really bother me, but I would have rolled them instead so as not to have that sharp edge. You might have to slow it down however if it goes 11.49 and needs a rollbar. That might be going too far for that nice of an original car.
12.25 would be my guess, I just love the Malibu !

High 12's, low 13s, its a pretty mild combo with a 750 carb in a full weight G-body with stock running. I think that is a good starting point. Once you start playing with it the performance should take a jump. N2O will be yet another jump.
Malibu should run early 12s
