    This was a while ago, I went on a first date with a professor and he was aware I was a nurse when he asked me to take a look at his thigh. Thought what have I gotten into. He had seen his doc who said it was a spider bite. I did check and confirmed that it looked like Lymes. I had had multiple patients with this disease and told him what my patients had been put on. He apparently told his doc, who called re tx. I just told him what I knew and he ordered the titer and the doxycycline. My new friend took me out to dinner again and again. He healed!

    Two years ago I was bitten by a tick that had obviously been on me for a considerable time. It was somewhat enlarged when I found it and shortly thereafter I developed a fever and felt quite ill. The doctor in emergency had me admitted to the hospital where I spent the next 5 days. The care in the small eastern Ontario hospital was superb and the diagnosis was anaplasmosis, a tick-born disease. My recovery was complete with no residual complications and subsequent blood tests also showed antibodies to Lyme disease, although I never had any symptoms of Lyme. Tick bites can transmit other bacterial diseases besides anaplasmosis and Lyme.

    I went about 3 weeks undiagnosed with Lyme disease, felt stiff as a board and couldn’t stay awake. It manifested to Lyme Carditis and I went into 3rd Degree Heart Block. Luckily Dr Adrian Baranchuk is a cardiologist in Kingston and is the man when it comes to Lyme Carditis. He diagnosed me and said if this was 5 years earlier they would have put a pacemaker in me, but instead antibiotics did the trick. I’m forever grateful for him

    I’ve had Lyme Disease for years now. Got bit by a tick, but I did not have a bullseye rash. Even though bloodwork was done, and it came back positive. I also had spinal tap twice, which confirmed it as well. I’ve had history of seizures, now I have a neurogenic bladder, which required a bladder stimulator implant. Not counting the other symptoms Lyme disease has. I was actually on antibiotics for almost a year through a Picc line IV.

    Deer tick bite in the back of my hand when cutting back climbing roses in October of all times. I first thought it was a sore from thorn. I must have knocked the body off and about a week later I had the bullseye rash. My GP put me on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Lots of deer in my area. Luckily I haven’t ever been sick from it. Unfortunately, a friends husband passed from Lyme disease that affected his heart a few years after his bite. Thank you for excellent info. 😊❤️

    I live in a tic infected area, i do a tic check twice a day, every day. I also check my dogs twice a day. The dogs are on monthly tic medicine and are vacinated against lyme disease. Hate to tell you, but both dogs have had lyme disease, and I have had it twice. So the longest time possible would be 12 hours they would have been attached. So the 24 hour time to transfer is, in my experience, the product out of the south end of a north bound bull.

    Live in Eastern Connecticut, had Lyme with many coinfections including Babesiosis. Was on Doxycycline for 2 months and Mepron. I did not have the bulls eye rash. Thankfully here we have Lyme specialists that listen to you, but not always covered by insurance. Generally GP’s are testing for Lyme and Babesiosis at the same time, because the Babesiosis here is becoming rampant. I change my clothes every time I spend time outside. Lyme is brutal, if you don’t know what is making you sick get tested for Lyme.

There's a lot of misinformation out there and after going through the American health system where everyone else thought I was nuts, I finally found a test that is only done in 2 labs in the US and cost me $1500. Insurance won't pay for it. If you think you have it, do your research and look up the Lyme Disease Organizations for the real info.

      Most doctors won’t run the tests unless you have a good relationship with them. I saw two of my regular doctors before one tested for Lyme. They generally don’t think it’s Lyme. It’s always arthritis in their view. You have to be insistent on the testing, and you have to have so many markers for the test to come back positive. Read about the Lyme vaccination. There’s a crazy story.

      @peterwest323 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's interesting. In the East Bay Hills only about 1% of the ticks capable of feeding on mammals carry Lyme's disease. Apparently a common lizard, which ticks feed on early in their life cycle carry a protein that kills the Lyme disease in the tick.

      @peterwest323 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Regarding the white pants - seems like a good idea. But I've hiked in a tick infested area with a few generations of dogs, over 20 years. For some unexplained reason, my white dogs have always attracted more ticks than my black dogs - I'd estimate a 20X difference in the rate. And it's not a matter of it being easier to see them either. Something about white makes it far more likely for ticks to sense and attach themselves. I assume it has something to do with differences in heat signature.

  • @chirsd666

    A key prevention tip is if you have been exposed to ticks in a high-risk area or activity, is immediately after you get home to throw your clothes straight into the wash (with dryer on high heat) and take a shower. Use the opportunity in the shower to feel all over your skin for ticks and scrub areas such as hair, armpits and privates, which are areas they could easily hide.

    Locally here on Mount Desert Island, Maine if you get a deer tick bite the doctors will prescribe a 3-5 day treatment with amoxicillin. This is usually given immediately after a tick bite. The local hospital even runs a weekend "tick clinic" for deer tick bites. I don't know if this approach does anything, but it makes people feel better after they find a tick on themselves. Deer ticks are the primary vector here. The problem with them is that they are very small ticks (often 1mm or less) and it is easy to miss one, particularly in your hair.

    I respectfully observe that Lyme disease is not that easy to treat later on and probably never goes away. Antibiotics should be used for persistent infections. Lyme hides and protects itself from the antibiotics. Biofilms, cysts, and also hiding in our immune cells and nerve cells
    Lyme and co infections need to be taken a lot more seriously.!

    One of the biggest problems with this is the deer ticks are so small they are very difficult to see. I usually get a few every year on me and most times I don’t know they are on me until I see a red spot with a small black dot in the center. If you ever got one on your scalp you would never see it. I've only knowingly had a tick 2 times. Once I scraped it off in a shower like a scab without giving much thought. I had heard a lot about tick diseases and, being about 16, got so scared that I immediately felt sick.
    There is another disease called tick-born encephalitis. Apparently, it is not widespread in America. Our local health experts strongly promoted rimantadine for it as a first remedy. That drug was quickly sold out. They say not to walk in tall grass. There are other reasons not to do that.

    Love your show, but i am getting old so i think i missed the part where you showed your audience that it is just the Black Legged Deer Tick and the Western Black Legged Tick that transmit Lyme disease, though all the other ticks can carry other nasty diseases too!
    And the little buggers like to climb in order to increase their chances to attach to a host, so trail grass or scrub can be of more risk.
    And as you briefly alluded to, in removing them it is very important to get the “head” out (not really a head as you and i think of one, more like the toothed tip of a little monster) and the best way to do this is to use a little scooper you can get real cheap on Amazon, like $5.00, that hooks under and around the so called head and tugs it out. Do NOT try pulling with fingers nor the match method for that can make the tick barf back infected blood into you and no one wants tick barf in them.
    Oh, they don’t make very good pets. They rarely come when you call them and it is next to impossible to house train them.

    We were visiting in Ottawa last week and our two companions both picked up ticks in the woods (my husband and I didn’t thankfully). They were both given only two doses of doxycycline to be taken at once. Is that enough antibiotic? We got the ticks out in around 24 hours.

    Very Disappointed with this video as you failed to hammer home the seriousness of the disease; how it hides in the body, how it develops into several life forms (Spirochete, Cyst, and non-cell wall), and the co-infecting bacteria (Babesia et all) that also accompany the Lyme bacteria.
    Bottom line- if you notice an engorged tick on your body, remove it and get on an antibiotic right away and you'll probably never see a symptom. If left alone for several months and you become symptomatic, see a Naturopathic or Lyme-literate Doctor. Antibiotics are worthless after the bacteria begin to divide and multiply.
    This from someone with first hand experience.

      @@TalkingWithDocs Thank you for your reply. I don't feel as though we are disagreeing on anything. I just felt disappointed with the limited content in relation to the seriousness of the disease. As for my experience- I never had Lyme disease but my daughter did. In 2012 she was a promising student athlete who developed and felt the wrath of this horrible disease. I will spare you and your viewers the details of what ensued, but can tell you there is hope for patients with advanced cases. After many months of misdiagnosis by traditional MDs and a close look into the abyss of the disease, we were fortunate to find a pair of MDs who gave us the diagnosis and treatment that saved her life. I am proud to say after countless prayers and many years she is today a Naturopathic Doctor herself and will soon graduate with a second degree in chiropractic medicine.
      Regardless, she is still feeling the effects of this evil and often debilitating disease. I'm a fan of your channel and remain.

      My first test in fall of 2020, because of symptoms related to Lyme, was negative. I was prescribed azithromycin for 14 days before results of negative were in. However, over the next 3 years I became progressively worse with joint and nerve issues. Was tested again for Lyme in 2023 which came back positive. Seen an Infectious Disease doctor and was prescribed doxycycline for 30 days. Was tested a month later, the test was negative even though antibodies were still high but only 4 markers. Continued to experience joint and nerve issues. Infectious Disease doctor ordered another test 6 months later which came back positive with even more markers and higher antibodies. So I have presently completed another 30 days of antibiotics (azithromycin this time). I go back to Infectious Disease doctor next week. Any suggestions if I continue having positive tests.
