More like funny, instead of raunchy. Some comedy movies, are always raunchy. "American Pie" is raunchy. Because of Eddie Kaye Thomas ran to the...I am not going to say it.
Peter Marshall would return to Squares, but when The Fonz himself Henry Winkler took over as Executive Producer
Peter stated in his book that he wasn't a fan of Whoopi Goldberg being on Squares

Whoopi: “the rich, the wealthy, and the filthy rich.”

This was a good episode and one of my favorites, I remember watching this during my Sr. Year in High School and also, I have it saved on my DVD-R from GSN

Well, despite all the controversy and everything else:
Hollywood Squares did enjoy a 6 year run with Tom Bergeron as host and even though Peter Marshall will always be the Master of the Squares, Tom proved that he can hold his own ground and he did indeed do that and just like Peter Marshall, Tom also won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host which is something that John Davidson has never done
Plus, Tom's Version lasted twice as longer than the John Davidson Version, but Shadoe Stevens is on this version as well and even the late Joan Rivers and the late Dick Clark even appeared on Tom's Version as well
+T-Bone Hubbard I missed the part where Tom Bergeron held his own. This show was ahead of it's time.
ranlive1 Tom Bergeron, like Peter Marshall before him did a nice job keeping the panel in check. Also he interjected a lot more than Marshall did. John Davidson was nice but the problem with him was he tended to let some of the celebs hog up too much time and lacked control of the panel.
@@megamanj2004X you are SOOOOOO right about Davidson, he let the celebs get way out of control too much and also, if I was Rick Rosner or ORION Television, I would tell John Davidson to keep the celebs in check
also, Peter Marshall and Tom Bergeron won a Daytime Emmy Award for hosting HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, something that John Davidson has never done
I like John on Time Machine, he was 50/50 on Squares, but Pyramid wasn't his cup of tea, IMO
Peter Marshall also appeared on H2 during Game Show Week Part 1, but he didn't appear on the Whoopi Years and that's mainly b/c he wasn't a fan of Whoopi Goldberg on HS
also, the late Merrill Heatter slammed John Davidson's Version of The NEW Hollywood Squares by calling it a circus and rightfully so

I was 15 when this came out, wish they're reboot it.
Well, along Fremantle Media, ABC revived classic game shows, such as Match Game, Pyramid, Celebrity Family Feud, and To Tell the Truth, so it's possible that they might revive Hollywood Squares. Anything can happen. Well, we'll just have to wait and see what the future has in store.

Didn't FloJo's week of shows air the week she passed?
FloJo died the morning the first episode of the week aired. Whoopi did a disclaimer at the beginning of the episode explaining the episodes were pre-recorded and that the week was dedicated to her memory.
cbgmp Plus a lot of the 1st season aired out of order. Some of these earlier weeks (including FloJo's eps.) of shows didn't air until around Christmas and New Year's Eve in some stations.
