I have 2 life-size mannequins like they have in clothing stores with the real eyes and everything. Freaks my friends out when they come in and aren't expecting to see THAT. I gave one of them away and plan to give the other two away as well or sell them, when I feel like loading them up and toting them off. I used to have some antique mall booths and was planning on using them for that. I ordered one and it arrived beheaded, so they had to send me another one and they sent the wrong one and in total, I ended up with 3. I still have the beheaded one. I plan on JB Welding her head on eventually.
I might could use one of them to display baseball caps. I used to have a big glass head that I displayed them on, but I gave that away too.
How do you describe the back adjustable method on baseball caps when it's velcro? I have one baseball cap listed that is velcro closing and Ebay sent me a notice that I could NOT use the trademarked name Velcro in my listing.

@@dechinta Velcro is a brand name that eBay flags. Hook and Loop is the generic term for that type of fastening.

8X6X6 is what most hats should ship in. Also often times hats border between the 8 ounce threshold for USPS so you can trim the tabs shave weight and get it under 8 ozs. Been selling hats since I was in high school in 2004 on eBay.

Based off this video I ordered a 40 pack of 8x6x4, as I planned to start focusing a bit of my reselling on hats. They may fit, but I worry that there would be many customer complaints as a result of hats being misshapen by being stuffed in the tight space. I’ll put them to use on other items, but thank you for the clarification.

My husband and I love baseball caps. After washing a cap, I fit it over the bottom of a gallon milk jug and that shapes it perfectly as it drys. Since a milk jug is the same color as your ball of paper, you could probably cut the bottom off and use it to shape your hats when you take pictures. Love this video!

Nice video Josh. I had to watch as I'm a hat guy. I restore and sell 100's a year. I know everyone does what works for them, but I wanted to trow my .02. There is nothing wrong with your video at all, but I wanted to share what I do. The angle photos you do are very important, but try using one a your main photo and ending with the other one. 2nd... instead of paper to shape; try a balloon. I use balloons for this unless I have restored it with a balloon. And last, as a hat seller collector, I try and use a bigger box. I'm not a fan of hats that are even a little bit smashed. Most people won't mind, but if you get that one collector that does not know how to restore, you are asking for a negative. Try using an 7 or 8 cube box 7x7x7 or 8x8x8 with some craft paper for void fill. Nice detailed video. I have a 5 min restoration video on my YT on hat restorations. With knowing how to restore, you may pick up hats you normally wouldn't.

This is the best way to ship hats. I usually use 8x8x4 since I run out of 8x6x4 boxes I get from eBay for other items. And the bigger size allows me to fit flat brim hats and 5-panel hats better. Also put a balled up paper at the back of the hat inside the poly bag if it won’t change the weight category. (Probably overkill, but I get feedback on all hats)

Its insane to think that in american thrift shops the hats will go from 0.10 to 0.99! Here in Canada, thrift shops (goodwill, value village, salvation army, etc) sells them for $3.99 to $7.99 depending on the hat. And because of that I almost never buy any from thrift stores.

With the paper stuffing, it holds a nice shape. When you lay the hat upside down to show the inside, the hat looses its form. Is this when the buyer realizes that it is not a firm hat? Best video on hats, ever. Thanks so much for this and all of your other videos.

By using brown tape on brown boxes, in my opinion, will also look a little more professional. I use brown on brown, clear on white and priority (go to the post office and if you ask really nice, they may give you 1 or 2 huge rolls of that really good priority tape) on priority. But thats just me.

You should at least consider poking around for some bubble wrap at a retail store. Bubble wrap is so expensive yet it's so plentiful everywhere! As an added bonus you reduce your impact on the environment as a seller.

My best selling hats are comic and cartoon related. My worst selling hats are oddly NASCAR. Maybe its because there are just so many nascar hats already in the resellers market. Do you often find autoghraphed hats? I have a few with signatures i cant identify but dont want to get rid off in case its a highly sought after autoghraph
