Very interesting, thanks for the comparison! I played Goldeneye to death back in the day on N64 - very comfortable with the N64 controls. I couldn't do more than about 5 minutes with my Switch Pro controller. Strafing felt weird, aiming also felt so different. I'm waiting for my Switch N64 controller to come in shortly, I'm almost positive I'll prefer that over the Pro controller... well, I'm hoping anyway!
All analog input feels like garbage on the NSO emulator. As nice as the wireless N64 controller feels, the way the emulator sees the analog range is so bad and incorrect compared to real console. It was unplayable to me. Mario Kart feels horrible too.
Thank you! Finally a comment that talks about this. Yeah the fine aiming on the NSO feels so twitchy the dead zones or variability in input is so fine it's silly. Try playing these same games on the original N64, comparing the N64 'switch' controller notice the fine aiming difference. I mean kind of defeats the purpose for getting a peripheral designed for that console's games if it still doesn't perform much better. I tested this with my mates N64 switch controller comparing joycons and pro controller in comparison to playing on an actual N64. Just poor optimisation by Nintendo.
Let me know which N64 game to try next. I will also be playing some modern gaames with the N64 controller over the next few weeks so give me any suggestions of whhat to play here too!

I agree. The pro controller is painful to use for Goldeneye. When I strafe, I end up looking into the sky!

I wish I could but sadly I only got my hands on one N64 controller.
Maybe hybrid N64 and switch pro would be interesting???
@@DrMat You can actually use the dual stick mode with one pro controller, however the controller sticks will be reversed.
Did you have to change the button maps?
