I have a 7258 Stylist Singer Sewing machine. This video was very helpful to me. I got the E4 error as well. I took the cover off like you did. That black gear on my machine was broken, in fact part of it was totally gone. I will try to get it fixed but I am not sure that anyone can fix it or even get the part as you stated that is hard to get. Thank you so much for this video.
I have a singer stylist and this happened today to mine. I did everything I know to do. Found your video and took the face off… you are exactly right! One of the plastic gears had broken in half! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I have a 7258 stylist and the black pinion gear completely cracked in half and fell out - the needle bar would not adjust but I could still sew a straight stitch. Of course once we removed it, we got the E4 error. Your video was really helpful to understand what was going on.
Yup! That's exactly my problem! I have a Singer Stylist 7258 with an E4 code, and sure enough! My little black gear is missing half of itself! Thank you so much for making this video!
Hey! Thanks for the video! My friend and I were trying to sew and came across the same issue. So we went to TH-cam looking for help and you helped perfectly partnered with my dad of course !
Yes, very helpful. I don’t own a Singer, except for a 221. But seeing the guts 9f any machine, understanding how things work, or supposed to work, very handy. Every zigzag machine has to have some way of moving that needle bar. So it’s a universal concept, and you explained it well. Thanks. I’m a new subscriber, thanks!
I have the Singer 7285Q with a E4 error code, was able to identify the issue, have received the replacement part but cannot get the broken gear off. Did you ever do a video showing actual replacement of the gear?
I have a Singer 7258 and I got this error. I checked and the gears were fine. Turns out it was an issue with the plate over the bobbin not lined up. I adjusted it and the message disappeared. Thanks for the video.
Patchwork 7285Q. Mine had the E4 error code and I shelved the machine for a while, forgot it was broken, and it booted up just fine. Used it for a few days this week, now the error's back! I don't know why it decided to work even that long, when I took the cover off, I found the gear missing an entire third! Anyway, the part's ordered-- thanks for your help!
I have a singer stylist 7258 and this video helped me figure out it was the pinion gear that was broken. Thank you! Did you ever make that video showing how to replace it? I don't see it on your page.
I have a stylist too …. Broken yesterday 😢… my black gear is broken exactly like the one in the video. Would like a video on how to replace it too. I’ve chek out today at my croft signer store and it would cost me more than a new machine to bring them mine for reparation. (I’m french sorry for my english 😅)
I just fixed mine. My gear was broke too. I ordered 2 to have spare. The hard part is lining up the needle center and then have the zig zag stick get the right width on both sides.
I have the same machine and I have ordered the pinion gear. Just waiting on it. We’re you able to replace it? You give me the link of the video if you did replace it.
I need help with this exact machine having a C4 error that I can't find any help at all. All of the videos on TH-cam say it their machines make sounds when they press the foot pedal but mine doesn't and the handwheel works fine, continues to sew.
I found a video in a foreign language that showed the c4 error was because a wire had become detached from the control circuit board on the inside of the machine. Unfortunately it appeared that it is a professional fix only job, which is too bad because it seems to be what is wrong with my machine too.
I also got a c4 and the needle just got stuck and hand wheel wouldn't turn.I can't find anything related to this other than look thread in the bobbin..😕 only had 3mos and started to use in July..🤔
Thank you so much! My Singer Stylist has been sitting in closet because I got this error code and couldn’t find anything online for it. I got it to turn on regularly but now the stitching is messed up, I think the gears aren’t working
I had the same issue with the same machine. Basic repair shops will not diagnose this issue correctly. Singer considers this a mechanical issue even though it is related to a sensor. It cost me about $80 to fix.
Thanks for the tip about the gear. I simply had to manually move the gear a couple of times and voila, the code went away when I turned the machine off and then back on. I did not see a crack in the gear as you did in your video or maybe my eyes just didn’t see one. The fix worked for a straight stitch but my specialty stitches don’t stitch as they should so there’s maybe a good chance there is something wrong with that black gear.
@@danarabulinski7540 I didn't have any crack, but the needle was fastened on the left and the machine gave E4. I placed the machine on a strait stitch position and manually moved the gears. Worked with straight and seems also find specialty stitches, but I haven´t tried them yet. Wonder if there is is a specific position the gears should be placed, when straight stitch is chosen?
Thanks for this video! It was the actual issue with my Singer Stylist sewing machine. Unfortunately, Singer says this is a mechanical issue and is no longer under warranty. Can this part be ordered by consumers?
It affects the position of the needle bar. When the machine starts up it does a self test, part of that is to test the side to side movement of the needle bar. If it does not properly move side to side, then the machine goes into an error.
I need that gear - I will use the link and see if it's even available - thanks for that - as I took mine apart, the black gear came apart and the broken part dropped into the base of the machine - now - do I remove the base to find that part or just order and wait...
My gear was not broken just over rotated down. If that makes any sense. Anyway this video helped me fix it. I don't know what model my machine is but its a Stylist.
I took the end case off, looked the gear over and it did not appear to be broken. I moved the gear ever so slightly, turned the machine back on and the code disappeared. Not sure how or why. The machine works fine now. Your insight saved me a long drive to the sewing machine repair store and $$. If I get the code again, I will be sure to reference back to your video. Thank you.
Singer Fashion mate, and that is exactly what happened to my sewing machine! It's actually broke in half and fallen down and I heard that when I started the machine that something inside broke and fell off.
C4 is a general code that can be caused by a variety of things, what actually triggers the code is the motor being overloaded and either unable to turn or under a heavy load and turning slow. I assume the needle hits the front of the plate when sewing backwards, turn the hand wheel by hand until the needle is just inside the needle plate. Look at the needle from the side, is it centered front to back in the needle plate hole? If not then it needs to be centered.
Not sure if you'll even see this but I have a Singer Stylist with an E4 error code and NO cracked gear! I can't find anything else to troble shoot this issue. ( already viewed and confirmed the gear timing and position... from the "service" manual.)
Thank you for the video have not been very successful finding helpful videos for Singer Patchwork machine. By chance do you have a video for oil and clean for this same machine?

Hi there first time on your channel love the video keep up the good work I have a singer just like the one you just displayed but in my display window I have a backwards c and a forward c and my foot pedal won't work what do I need to do?
Either the foot pedal itself has a problem or the electrical Jack itself has a problem. If the wire or pedal got yanked on then the Jack is probably broke and needs to be repaired.

Not sure what you mean by threading secondary bobbin. I assume you mean when winding the bobbin you get an E4 error. If that is what you mean, then the clutch on the machine may not be disengaging. When you wind a bobbin there is a clutch system in the handwheel that is supposed to disengage the the machine from the motor only the bobbin is winding and the needle and rest of the machine is not operating. On some singer machines if the clutch does not disengage while winding the bobbin it will go into an error. If that is what is going on then the machine needs to go to a service or repair center, there are several different problems that can cause that to happen.

hi , I got a singer start let 6660 sewing machine and I keep getting the E5 error. Everything was done right to my knowing but as you stitch it gives out a beeping sound and doesn't work
That sounds like a problem with the foot peddle connection. Make sure it is plugged in properly, if it is then the connector in the machine probably needs to be replaced.
Where can I order the sensor above the rotating disks? It seems as though this machine does not have it and since I bought it used with that error code I believe it is the problem
That usually indicates the foot pedal is either not connected or it is not making a good connection. If your foot pedal is plug in then the jack it plugs into is probably broke and needs to be replaced.

Hi
I have same machine and same problem
Good morning
I have singer 7258 problem is showing C3 and doesn’t work
Elana, you have probably fixed by now, but incase.....My manual says to check the machine's socket for a foreign object where the foot pedal cord belongs. If nothing else, just unplug the cord from machine and then reinsert it. It might have come loose.
I have a Futura CE 250. It's flashing E4 code
I have a older Disney sewing machine but it’s showing a F04 sign in red
What is E2 error mean? When filling bobbin
I have the same issue! 🥺
I gave that problem, also! Frustrating!
I get a c4 error on the same model you have on your video
Isn’t there a list of Error Codes for Singer sewing machines? There has got to be.
I have a 7258 and due to medical problems I have never used it.
