    China is heavily investing in African infrastructure. A win-win situation for both parties. What did the West do here apart from slavery, colonialism, imperialism and exploitation?

    Really, is it true that u will be able to view Mt. Kenya and also view Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania from the top of this building?
    It is a gorgeous building.

      When I lived in Ngong and specifically Matasia hills, I could see Mt Kilimanjaro from home. What I am trying to say is, I am not sure where Mt Kenya is located from Ngong since it wasn't in my view from that hill. It is possible that you can see both of this Mountains from that elevation considering the location of Nairobi.

    • @mrjarso
      @mrjarso 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i lived in ngong and i saw mt kenya regularly especially in the mornings on clear sunny days, if you look towards northeast of nairobi it was on the east side of the aberdares ranges. in matasia it is harder to see it because the view is obscured by hills and ngong forest.

    Land prices are quite high in Nairobi hence tall buildings.The tenants will obviously absorb the overheads like lifts; maintenance, etc. Kigali is also growing fast with investments from foreign investors. For Hilton I think the loc-move will be great for business.Outdated location currently.

(In the year 2009, one out of 50 children or 1.5 million children in United States of America will be homeless each year.[4] There were an estimated 57,849 homeless veterans estimated in the United States during January 2013, or 12 percent of all homeless adults)

      @@DotiVirtuoso am Kenyan for your information ,we cant wait for a foreigner to come and highlight our weaknesses ,we have to be our own critic, what i mean is that ,there is alot of inequality in Kenya, having the tallest buildings in the country while having the biggest slum in the continent is not something we can be soo much proud about..if we could fix our gdp per capital ,it would be better.....thats SA has alot of crime....inequality..or big economic contrasts in the same country.

    • @TheTororist
      @TheTororist 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hilton is the tenant and the owner is kenyan. why so salty about somalis? they are kenyan too and even if he was from somalia he is still african creating employment

    • @unconformingtruther5496
      @unconformingtruther5496 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiprotich Toroitich OK fine you win with the later part of the comment but either way, it would have been better the tenant being local instead of keeping repatriating profits to foreigners. Wait till Africa wakes up and start investing in the west and you will see their reaction, cos if it were just about investments why refuse some of the Chinese money

    • @TheTororist
      @TheTororist 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      biggest investors in australia are chinese for example and they are ivesting heavily in london and newyork. 30 years ago this was unfathomable but look at them now. they even get a green card immediately through the US investment visa programme which actually encourages foreigners. any african can get it if you have 250000$ lying around. they dont shun foreign investment and guess what, alot of those chinese repatriate profits back to china. think of it this way, a big brand hotel eases tourists mind, they come have a nice experience and tourist numbers go up, the hotel pays the rent to the company that owns the building which is a kenyan company domiciled in kenya and paying taxes to the kenyan govt. i feel that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks

    • @unconformingtruther5496
      @unconformingtruther5496 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiprotich Toroitich but yet not every Chinese money is welcome some countries in the west are starting to develop some trepidation about such. And nothing against the Chinese for me, nor foreign investment in countries with good labor laws with decent "living wages" for the locals. Unfortunately in Africa some of these countries sell their countries off as "low waged offerings" and never offer their citizenry any form of liquidity for "Indigenous Investments", since they haven't instigated a diasporic "economic stimulus package" yet to make their countries dynamic. So why won't they focus on having local (non governmental I hope) flag bearers first and foremost. So hence the profits gets repatriated and we still left to dry.

    Just seat back and watch what Somali will become in the near future. When all diaspora from every country on Earth returns while speaking all the languages spoken in planet including Elien one, they will turn Somalia to heaven and become a super power to a point UN and world bank will cone to borrow money. Nairobi was small village in early 90s and has became since economic house for East Africa which I am proud of but they must recognize that and salute for every Somali.
