Thanks for posting this. I've literally created a shortcut to it some years back on my desktop. As a HUGE Gin Blossoms fan, and whose favorite song is Found Out About You, I really appreciate that this is one of the very few recordings of this song where the backup guitar arpeggios that give the song its depth and feeling are distinguishable. You can really hear it at 02:11.
I know this discussion is a couple of years old at this point, but I have to chime in. That sounds to me like Doug's guitar playing, and it is definitely Doug's voice doing the harmonies and at the end talking to Robin about "Until I Fall Away". And that song was recorded in '92, which means they were most probably playing it at shows before then. Doug was still in the band at that time. They didn't kick him out until they were trying to record NME in early '92. So the date must be incorrect. RIP D.H. Peace.
The video says it's from 94'. Doug died in 93'. I'd say either the video date is off or it's not the Doug you're thinking of (maybe a soundman, seems like a small gig so, it's possible that they were talking back and forth).

Good stuff! I play these guys in my car daily. Found Out About You and Jealousy are the best.
best song ever love it to death!!
Perhaps this is what they would have sounded like on MTV Unplugged.

one of the best songs ever!
I still love this song!
the PERFECT SUMMERTIME SONG.
hanging out with your friend around the fire pit playing this song
I'm wagering that is definitely Doug, so the date's wrong. Practical-sounding and ghostly. Peak performance.
eglantinelass Could be, it seems a lot of the dates have been up for debate. All I did was put the date it was listed under when I found it.
Definitely a ghostly sounding song...I've always thought that....
@@robbanks6683 yeah but he was yours and he was yours
Fucking awesome !!!!!!!
@hugfrombug I agree very much! Love how this accentuates his voice.
my soon-to-be husband, can play this.
I hope you two are still happy and happily married 😊
He is yours and you are his
@CherryONeil I was thinking the same thing.
is doug playing on this track?
no. Doug was kicked out in 93 or 92, this recording is from 94. They kicked him out before their debut and before they got signed.
***** thanks eric.. doug was 32 when he died. I am 32
anotheruseforaname yes, I don't see how it could be any other Doug.. ***** any thoughts?

Sadly, yes.
