Plovdiv is amazing. Officially the oldest city in Europe, situated at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, it is like a textbook in history. I love it.
... oldest city in Europe? Plovdiv? Seriously, the founders of Plovdiv, or Philipoupolis as is the correct, original and self-explanatory name of the city had already founded centuries prior to it quite many other cities in their native lands to the southern side of the peninsula of Haemus. Read before expressing uneducated views just to please yourself.
Panos, please do not spread your ignorance. Philipopolis was a name given to Plovdiv after being conquered by Philip II the Macedon. If it was conquered, it existed before, so Philipopolis was not the original name.
Plovdiv was found by the Thracians millenia before that.

Actually it is. There was a city there since around 4000 BC. Plovdiv shares 6th place for oldest city in the world with Sidon, Lebanon and Faiyum, Egypt.
ZeddBG there are strictly defined parameters of what a city is - to have walls,streets,canalization and so on,the anciest cities the the world are in the near easy and egypt.
the earlist european ware the greek ones which ware much later.
the first city to appear to the modern territory of bg is sozopolis which was greek

Hey, great video about my hometown. Glad you were able to visit and enjoy. The military gathering, I believe it was the independence day celebration from the Ottoman Empire. Bulgaria was divated on two main parts by the time -southern and northern. The northern part became independent earlier then the southern. Southern Bulgaria became independent in 1885 and this is the time North and south got reunited.

Yea beautiful city indeed I was there between '85 and '92
The military was there to honor the lost soldiers who fought in past wars. Also most of the buildings in the old town are 2 centuries older than The US.
There is another cool place to visit in Bulgaria called Belogradchik...it is AMAZING...there is a fortress, which is surrounded by huge, strange-shaped rocks, to climb up to....caves and a castle, too...it all looks like something out of Dr. Suess.

I think that Plovdiv is one of the most beautiful places in South Europe. And I saw the cat from 4.09 may be one or two years ago in Old Town xD

Last week I saw your first video which was I think 1 month ago in Romania, and I added Romania in my bucket list (Thank you for that). I am actually from Izmir, Turkey. But this week I am in Bulgaria, Stara Zagora just for holiday. Anyways I wish I had known your channel before.

Have you been to Veliko Tarnovo? I think that would be a place that you would find most interesting. It was Bulgaria's last capital before we fell to the Turks.

Tereza I didnt see mountains in Slovakia, more like hills. Bulgaria has the highest mountains in Eastern Europe and the Balkans got its name from the Balkan mountain region in Bulgaria so probably thats the reason Slovakia is hardly comparable and unimpressive in comparison.
Yasen I dont feel the need to judge your hills since I’ve never seen and climb them. I suggest you do the same champ :)

As a local I may say ABSOLUTELY TRUE!💯 In terms of nature, ancient landmarks, silence and cheap food Plovdiv are the best👍
