It's against every law in this galaxy that this guy doesn't have at least half a million subscribers. It would be so much easier to just add some distortion on guitars, scream through all the vocals and slap "metal version" to the title and be done with it. Obviously Skar knows how to sing&growl, he knows his instruments but where he stands out of other youtubers is the way he arranges these songs. It's not easy to pick up a well known song and make it your own while keeping it recognizable for wider audience. Skål!
The music in itself is always crisp as hell too…tone always on point…it’s not easy to get that clear sharp yet heavy distortion

It's so frustrating how little views this has. This is hands down the most impressive and catchy version of this song. Sorry. No one comes close. Skar puts time and work into his songs. His riffs are juicy as fuck. The majority of all other "metal versions" are so basic and boring.

Mark my words.... As "Toss a coin..." was Dan's ticket to broad audience, "Burn butcher burn" will or is yours. This was really amazing cover and as huge Dan's fan as I am I must, with unbearably heavy heart, say you have won this one. I am speechless.

Skar's covers are objectively more transformative and "heavy metal". His "Toss a Coin" cover was far more inspired than Vasc's, yet it has only a fraction of the views. People prefer to lap up bland music, it appears. Skar's a bit too heavy for a broad audience :)
On a side note - I'm quite sure Skar himself would disagree with this, but I find it insulting to compare a few guitar riffs and some drum beats (i.e. Dan Vasc's covers) to the arrangements that Skar produces. The latter demonstrates actual creative spirit. The former is just putting some heavy sounds behind whatever is popular on the internet that time of year. They're not the same.

However, as per the comment we're responding to, and Dan Vasc's own comment on this video, some people (and he himself) do believe that his covers are, at times, "better". Since that is a matter of taste, I cannot tell such people that they are right or wrong, and I can only point out the immense discrepancy in production value, complexity of the arrangement, and musical talent between the two, and perhaps said people will realise why the two cannot be compared as such.
Agreed. Dan consistently puts out uninpsiring arrangements - the exact same song just with a guitar and powermetal vocals. He gets so many clicks because of the unchallenging musical style and because he is easy on the eye. Skar takes a song and arranges a lovely homages to metal; with familiar, thematic and clever rhythm guitar and powerful vocals. Absolutely unmatched artwork.
This cover in particular is more enjoyable than the series was.

Between this and Dan's version, I have to say this one takes the cake for me.
Dan's version stays true to the core, and while gorgeous, doesn't feel metal enough for me, atleast not for a metal cover.
This however, explodes in all things metal while still depicting the original version beautifully.

@@amin7224 No problem, Skar has a very distinct powermetal sound. I'd suggest checking out bands like Powerwolf, Sabaton, and Hammerfall. If you want to expand abit into Symphonic metal, try Nightwish and Xandria. As for Folk metal, Korpiklaani and Ensiferum are great starters 🙂
