      I’ve lived in Prescott, where the Granite Mountain Hotshots were headquartered, we’re they were from. . I own the DVD. Even not knowing any of the men, I’ve never been able to bring myself to watch it.

    Я посмотрела фильм, не зная о ком он. Уже неделю не отпускает эта трагедия. Читаю и смотрю материалы... Я не верующий человек, но я надеюсь, что где-то для этих людей есть продолжение их пути и там они опять счастливы.

    When everyone else runs from fire fire fighters run towards it going against every natural instinct. Their world balances on fractions of seconds to make snap decisions or they die. These men were part of the bravest for fighting wildfires without the heavy duty gear urban fire fighters have. My heart breaks for their loss and and for their friends and family. I hope the tragic evemt is never forgotton in the wildfire community as it can saves someone elses life.

    It's a very sad feeling you get when your up in that mountain and to know that 19 courageous men lost their lifes in that fire, my respect and blessings to all the wonderful men and women who helped build the trail and memorial site I know it wasn't easy to accomplish everything that is there now because i was one of them in 2016 with ACI-1 and ACI-2. may God bless their families. Rest in peace 19

      For some, the "thumbs down" could be THEIR expression of sadness.

    • @jsfbr
      @jsfbr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tell you, most of the time such thumbs down are unintended. The two icons, thumb up and thumb down, are very close together, so it's not umco that one hits the down without even noticing it. Only the down count increases to a hundreds or so one can safely assume the downs are intentional. TH-cam should space the two icons farth apart from each other. And, yes, still there are those that for some unknown reason feel that way...

    Respect for soldiers, police officers, medical workers, but for me the greatest heroes are firefighters! I do not know the details of this tragedy, but for every great tragedy of this kind I think that they are responsible, superiors,those who give the orders! As a general in the war responsible for your soldiers, once they had no choice and died bravely in battle but once is fault generals, colonels, senior officers because they sent them poorly planned... send soldiers in an ambush, certain death as firefighters..

      I saw initial reports that said Marsh was reckless to head out of the black, but as we come to learn more about the nature of the beast that is a genuine firestorm, we realize that he only acted out of drive to serve and protect and confidence in his understanding of what he thought he was facing.

    As a German Biologist I am devastated by that UNNECESSARY! Sacrifice - to accomplish what? Nothing! We ignore totally our Human frailty. Decision Fatigue. After weeks of inhaling toxic fumes, Carbon Monoxide in high doses! Physical exhaustion. PLUS! Hero! We cannot fail! We are simply the best. The mix for Hybris and self extinction. We waste our best men - for NOTHING! Expendables...Nature Always wins.

      The human spirit does not allow for us to back down when others are in danger and there is a chance we can help. This is why so many die in what seems from the outside to be senseless acts of valor. The truth of the matter is that nature is unpredictable. The best trained professionals can be caught unawares at the worst moment. Does this mean we should forego taking risks? I say no! How many life-saving inventions have come about because of tragedy? Steps taken because we see and recognize the value of the lives lost and declare in our hearts “Never again!” We will lose the battle time and again, but as long as we hold to the humanity that spurs such sacrifice and use it to fuel newer and more efficient techniques to try and prevent future disaster, we will not lose the war.

    Actually, several members were found outside their shelters, clear evidence some did try and run. Who can blame them? At some point survival kicks in and you act to try and save your life...,or at least die trying. Personally, the thought of being par boiled in aluminum wrap is enough to make me try and run out.

    • @sarahstarr2917
      @sarahstarr2917 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Most shelters get ripped off of people. A fire can burn over you at 70 miles an hour. Its like trying to hold a blanket of tinfoil over your entire body during a tornado....Thats the reason you see crew bosses jerking and yanking on the shelters during "practice deployment" - they're trying to simulate the fire giving unexpected jerks and tugs on your shelter.

      q not to mention they were simultaneously burning and cooking alive, natural human response would be to roll or pat the fire out. that's personally why I believe some were found outside their shelters. they died the most agonizing painful death you can imagine, it's a miracle not all of them were found outside their shelters. one of them was found with his intestines ripped out and burned to a crisp. they died horrific, painful deaths dude.
