    You were the only one I found to actually tell me what size I would need for the screws. I replaced mine yesterday and it was very noisy! Now everything is nice and quiet.Thanks for your detailed instructions and letting me know exactly what I needed to do the job. It definitely made everything easier knowing I had everything I needed when I started. The only thing that slowed me down was popping off the trim and reaching the back screw having to move everything out of the way and my hands give me problems, but I got it done. A mechanic wanted to charge me $400 to do this job. I paid $50 for the part and it took me less than an hour to do that and replace my cabin filter. The place that looked at it when I was having my car serviced wanted to charge me an hour and a half to two hours worth of labor (he said ... alright I’ll just charge a little over an hr plus almost $200 for the part 😂 like he was doing me a favor). It probably would’ve taken them 10 to 20 minutes tops! Thanks again this is what TH-cam tutorials are meant to be. It definitely comes in handy and can save a lot of money if we can tend to the smaller things ourself.

      WOW!! Thank you so much for this comment!! That means a lot! I'm glad I was able to save you some money, while showing you exactly how easy/difficult this install was. Comments like these help me continue making detailed packed videos!!!

    Pretty good video. I have an identical jeep… one thing people should also keep in mind, bad bearings will mean there’s more drag which means the electric motor will require more amps to get it going and keep it moving. Ive had bad bearings for a couple years and I just blew a fuse from over amping.

    • @austinwagoncompany

      Was your fuse under the hood or in the cabin? My wife is away from me and hers quit. I'm like you in that I knew the motor was getting bad. Thank you.

    Just replaced the blower on my WK2. Still makes a noise but a different kind. No rattling like it was on the old one. Does your new blower make any noise?

    Thanks for the help with how to take it out, but the one you recommended rubs in the housing because it’s not tapered like the OEM. I went to buy the one you spoke about but ended up returning it because it runs.

    • @thedetailhotlap
      @thedetailhotlap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, It's tough to determine which one is best. Most of the time the OEM is best but sometimes you can get a certified aftermarket one!

    I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and my unit makes a noise comparable to the noise a disc make in a disc player… it’s loud I hear it in the vent and it doesn’t blow cold air after awhile… I’m not sure if it a fuse of a replacement of the motor is needed… any suggestions I would appreciate before taking it to the dealer

    • @thedetailhotlap
      @thedetailhotlap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I would say it’s a combination of 2 things. The bearing in the fan/blower. And there’s low refrigerant. I could be wrong on the second, but Jeeps have a super low amount of refrigerant

    • @renaymiddleton2868
      @renaymiddleton2868 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thedetailhotlap it was actually really low refrigerant due to having 2 leaks… quick fix

    Is the a cabin air filter? Mine doesn’t make a bearing noise but doesn’t blow very hard.

    • @thedetailhotlap
      @thedetailhotlap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a cabin air filter. I don’t recommend taking that out.

    • @hottroddchevelle
      @hottroddchevelle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cabin air filter is right above the blower. You have to remove the glove box to access it.

    Hi there. I have a 2015 jg Cherokee laredo and I think it has 6he same ac as yours. We bought new and idk about 15k into it I noticed the ac was not coming out as cold . I took it to the dealer and they said it was fine and tests came back normal in the cold temp department. We weren't happy but what can I do. About 800 miles after warranty it went caput. No cold air. Took it back and they would ask corporate to see if its covered since I took it in prior. About 2 weeks later they told me yes Corp will cover but I have to pay 500 dollar ded. They said the ac unit is unique unlike any other. Has lifetime freon that gets recycled over and over and never needs freon. They said my ac rupture somehow and threw fragments and the freon escaped. New unit was $2500 to replace part alone. I've been searching and can't find anything close to my case. Is it possible that I was scammed? And probably just needed freon refill? Do you know what kind of ac unit it is in my 2015 and does it sound right on the ac never needing freon due to forever freon on special sealed ac.

    • @thedetailhotlap
      @thedetailhotlap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My local shop filled it up cuz It was super low on coolant. It’s been working great ever sense! I’m not saying they’re wrong but it def needed Freon

    • @victoriam9465
      @victoriam9465 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thedetailhotlap that's great but I was wondering if your 2014 has the same ac setup as my 2015? Because my dealership told me that the ac unit is Not refillable due to the design. A special sealed ac unit, therefore had to be fully replaced. Our models look the same so that's why I'd like to know because if yours got refilled and it's the same model ac then it means I was scammed.

    • @shonole

    For anybody wanting to do this I would invest the money in buying the factory replacement , sure it may be double the price but you're going to have less problems. I've seen many people complain about the cheap ones they install and they're just as noisy than the one that they're replacing. The one for my 2012 Grand Cherokee was Factory and only 100 bucks on Amazon. I could have went to the $40 eBay route but I would rather not I have to deal with problems of buying the cheap one
