Basically a Chevrolet Equinox Had a rave4 2010 in the shop here a couple of months back. That would set misfire codes after fill up at the gas station. Stuck Evap solenoid was the culprit. Nice work Phillip
Thanks Mark. I didn't think of that possibility but that could definitely explain the missfires if it occurred after a refueling event. I'm going to ask the customer if they recall that. Even though this is mostly GM it doesn't save GM failure records only one freeze frame.
On mine nearly every problem electrical has been the engine fuse block loosing connections between relays/circut breakers and their receptor plug in. Over time the loose fit created resistance and heated up the pin receptors and melted their fit into the block allowing the pin receptor to spread open with no return spring tension. With engine running remove cover from engine compartment fuse Block. Begin by wiggling each relay and most likely you will create a problem from the pins falling away from their contact points. 'This is what happens driving down the road and vibrations release and reconnect the pins momentarily and creates all sorts of electrical problems.
My sister has this truck and the power steering is a problem as well census, and electrical system it leaks and the air conditioning and heating, never new it had a recall on this truck, constantly, had problem since the day I brought it
A message on the dash that the ac has been disabled due to the engine running hot could be low coolant, failed cooling fans thermostat problems, water pump problems or internal engine problems etc. Start by checking the coolant level. Don't open the system if its hot. I would also recommend to watch if the cooling fans run when idling with the ac on. If not check the fuses that run the cooling fans. Hope this helps good luck
Won't Open with the key or electrically? Can you hear the latch motor when you activate the power locks? If it's a switch problem which is unlikely you could likely use a scanner to command it to open but I'm not sure as I haven't done that on a Suzuki. You'll need a full function scan tool though if it supports that feature.
I check engine light just turned on and I scanned it today. The P0300 random misfire code went on. I’ve experienced my car miss firing on lower speeds. Like when I try and accelerate it feels like the car is skipping and struggling to accelerate. I changed the spark plugs already, would it be my ignition coils going bad as well? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
You need to try narrow down which cylinder or cylinders is/are causing the miss. If you just have an OBD2 scanner you will not likely be able to see misfire data which is available with an enhanced scanner. It should show how many misfires have been counted on each cylinder. This is provided you haven't cleared the codes. If it shows a high concentration of misfires on say number 4 you can try changing that coil or swapping it to a different cylinder. P0300 is a code for random misfire but it may not be random. Some OBD2 scanners will report Mode 6 data but I'm not sure what Test ID the cylinder misfires are reported in. You should also check the freeze frame data for what the fuel trims were doing at the time of the P0300 code setting. There are lots of possibilities for a misfire. HTH
Did you change the starter for a no-crank problem? If so did you forget to connect the S wire? What do you mean by "won't start"? Won't crank or cranks but does not fire. There is a huge difference in the diagnosis?
Hey Philip, I have the same car. I fixed the misfires which then the car threw a injector 5 open circuit i found a broke wire so i got a new harness fuel rail injectors and orings. fired it up and it said the same thing. I noticed the catalytic convertors were running extremely hot within 5 minutes they got up to 1000+ degrees. I pulled the cats off to changed them and noticed the rear cat had a huge crack in it. Im hoping that with the cats being clogged up that it is the problem and for the sluggish operation and nasty idle. What are your opinions on this?
Wow. Thanks for the comments. This is like the chicken and egg scenario. Which came first. The single biggest cause of cat failure is overheating due to a misfire with ignition misfire being the worse culprit. The unused oxygen leaves the cylinder and the forward O2 reads a false lean condition resulting in the computer adding even more fuel. This melts the substrate in the cat and restricts exhaust flow. This leads to more misfires on that bank as the cylinders can't breath properly. So in your case the prolonged exposure to misfire will tend to cause the cat to fail leading to more misfires. Vicious circle. Hopefully changing the injector harness restores proper operation of the injectors and replacing the cats fixes the result. I'd recommend to install new plugs as well and then confirm you don't have any more misfires. Good luck. Hope this helps...
@@PhillipBailey I will keep you updated. Yes the plugs where completely toasted. I'll email you pics of the plugs. 🤣 I get my cats tomorrow and hopefully my wife has a good running vehicle if not I'll have tons of parts for someone who has a need for them 🤣 thank you for your reply!

What do you mean it turns on by itself? What does? the cooling fan? Heater Blower fan? As for the lack of cool air from the AC you need to see if the compressor clutch is turning on with the AC request. If not the system may be low on refrigerant. Is there and warning lights on? Is the engine temperature in the normal range? Fault codes related to the AC system?
@@PhillipBailey the whole car turns on by itself. I think it has something to do with the computer bc if it moves it starts making a beeping noise like something opened.
@@AngryKittyy I'm still confused by your statement. The ignition turns on by itself? So that the heater and radio start playing and gages come alive? If so I'd be thinking ignition switch. Does it have an aftermarket car starter installed? If so disable that first.

If you're referring to the alternator main fuse it's usually located at the main fuse block or right at the positive battery cable. Follow the heavy alternator output wire from the alternator. According to the service information it's called a generator fuse rated at 200 amps right front of engine near the generator (alternator). Good luck
Check for loose battery cables and connections first. Confirm the battery is ok should be 12.6volts no load. Check for power at the S terminal of the starter while trying to crank it over. If you have power at the S terminal then make sure the battery cable has power at the starter. If so replace the starter. If there is no power at thebS wire while cranking try moving the shifter to neutral if it's an automatic. Move the clutch pedal if it's a standard. Aside from that we will need a schematic of the starter control circuit. If there is a starter relay you need to do testing there. Good luck.
hey , I have a problem with my Suzuki xl7 2007. my location is over seas and the maintenance here is horrible so I would like to describe the problem and if you can identify the reason behind my problem that would be much appreciated. when I drive my car everything is normal but after a while when I try to accelerate my car stall and then shift the gear so if i keep my pressing the gas it will make a sound and accelerate very fast l, but if i take stop pressing the gas while its shifting somehow the acceleration would be controllable and whenever i come to traffic it seems like i have Late harsh shifts or early soft shifts and this is another symptom Delayed shifting response from lower gears while accelerating . I googled this they call it stumble and hesitation. some said my problem would be my Mass air flow sensor or throttle body , so i disconnected the MAS sensor and the problem is half solved i felt the acceleration very Strong but still have a knocking when the car shift gears , other said it might be my oxygen sensor and now some say it might be toque converter failure, so can you advice what would be my problem if you are familiar with Suzuki xl7 2007 most common problems.
That's pretty tough to diagnose without experiencing the symptoms. could be low fuel pressure, contaminated fuel, secondary ignition break down like a failing coil, induction leak or even transmission issues as you mentioned torque converter. You can rule out the O2 sensors by simply unplugging them. If it runs the same unplugged its not the O2 sensors. Have you tried to scan it? Is is setting any codes? Wish I could help more.
