About 5 years ago, I was telling a business partner that we needed to come up with a home security drone like this... glad they followed through with it. I think every home in the future will have one.
the problem will still exist where when someone actually gets caught doing something, u still need cops or whoever do deal with it from there. how many times u hear about something happening, get a positive identification but it's not enough for anyone to pursue further unless it's like a accident where someone gets murdered or severely injured.. cause then we're talking many thousands of dollars to the state or county or someone personal finance to a degree. but I'm sorry, a drone in it's own isn't deterrent enough. add a high volume siren and some led lights then I'm interested

Great, a security camera that’s on after you need it and foiled by wind, rain, snow, and anything placed over the storage box. That’s so much better than a simple camera that is captures an event when it happens in any weather and doesn’t make an annoying sound at all hours.
this system clearly isnt for regular people, more likely high value individuals
It’s an idea I had some years ago, and I really like the launch / land / capture / charge system. This is obviously at concept stage and waiting on investment as what’s urgently lacking is autonomous deployment based on trigger (security sensor, text prompt, schedule etc) and better sensor, stabilisation, night IR and very importantly, customised deployment aspects like gps or beacon positioning to aid its hover, tracking and patrol routines etc. This should be able to cover a large estate and be additional eyes for on site security (opening up commercial use cases as well). So, the barrier to entry is to either design already existing tech that DJI and a few others have already invested mega millions in, or license through them and never own your full IP.
I think this crowd will make money if they have the base unit (charging, capture etc) patented, as well as integration with 3rd party security systems and linking to Police, armed response etc in countries like South Africa and Brazil, then license to the big boys - just my thoughts.
"You may want to install a dozen cameras. That is not only expensive..." Dude, it's still waaaaaay cheaper than this system. You can have a very nice 16 to 32 camera system at about half the price of this. Better resolution, with human and car recognition built into the system as well. As an added bonus, it's much harder to defeat, especially if they don't know where your internal cameras are.

Needed: Devise one for police cruisers to provide overwatch during traffic stops -- or even track fleeing suspects in vehicles or on foot.

I had this idea almost 10 years ago when drones were a new thing that you had to build yourself if you wanted GPS hold or anything. My idea: four drones parked at the corners of a property with high zoom/ir capabilities high enough that you can't see/hear them from the ground. Camera feeds monitored from a van parked in the vicinity, ground team of at least 4 "ninja" operators hiding out. If the feed monitor spots intruders they direct the ninjas to them, whereupon they put a pillowcase over their heads, put them to sleep, and they come to out in the desert with a burner phone with 5 minutes of call time on it. That was my big idea for utilizing drones in a business context like eight years ago.

1:04 all this tech they put into it and they can’t put the camera on a gimbal to keep the camera straight up and down in turns… if the thing you want to see is moving you won’t see it very well

Drones can withstand high winds with enough power, and a lot of them are waterproof now

There's another selling at Best Buy for $1500 called Gargoyle - can't find any reviews on it. This system Sunflower has a 300' range and is about $15k for the total system with 9 sunflowers and one drone

This system can sense vibration and movements even let you know if it was a vehicle drove up into the driveway and someone approached the front door. Giving you a better clear understanding awareness of this allows you time to prepare accordingly..... LOL oh yeah amazon thx man for my package *back to the Bat cave of paranoia* These must be troubling times if were witnessing this kind of thing
