    I went to prison when l was 18, got out at 41. mlb , Pearl Jam, others, saved my life. when I thought l could not take any more of the madness, I listened and escaped. I'm 61 now got a life. point is music is powerful. can't imagine my life without it.

      Why were you at prison

    • @williamjones3826
      @williamjones3826 9 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      For armed robbery and murder. I was not wanting to kill any one. I wanted money for drugs. During a robbery, dude grabbed a gun and started shooting. I shot him. It's so easy to get yourself into a situation where your options are really limited- kill or die-. Best to never put yourself in that situation. Don't do drugs and don't steal. Not trying to justify what l did gust explain.

      +William Jones Dude, it's amazing to make a connection to music with people, I have four freakin college degrees including a PhD and sometimes feel like I am a damn failure because I don't make six figures and have thousands in college student loan debt. I have two first cousins who are still stealing, doing drugs, etc. and are in their late 20's and 30's now, and I think one of them probably did attempt murder. I just feel fortunate for what I have at this point in life.

    I'd love to see a movie about these early Seattle music days focusing on Andrew Wood and his early friendship with Chris Cornell and others. Stone Gossard said Andrew always knew that he'd be a star, and he made them all believe it could happen to them too.

      That doc about Andy is called Malfunkshun, like Guero mentioned. It's worth a look.

    • @srujan00
      @srujan00 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Malfunkshun is mostly about Andy and his brother, and Andy when he was young - being influenced by Elton John, T-Rex, KISS, the on/off drug addiction and counseling, and etc. If memory serves, towards the very end for a bit it talks about his relationship with Cornell, and how they waited for Chris to come to the hospital to see him a last time before they switched the machine off.

    • @SoulShines4Music

      @@srujan00 - Malfunkshun: The Andrew Wood Story is a *fantastic* documentary and is not solely about Andrew and his brother at all, it's about Andrew's entire life. The doc goes into great detail over all of Andy's life, from childhood to his tragic death, as well as the history of both his bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. There's incredible interviews with everyone who was close to Andy: his family & friends, his fiance Xana, his bandmates from Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone and of course with his former roommate and best friend Chris Cornell. If you're a fan of Andrew Wood, Malfunkshun, Mother Love Bone and even Pearl Jam (to understand the roots and history of the band pre Eddie Vedder) this documentary is an absolute must see!!

    Andy knew how to grab an audience by the soul and jump into your heart. This song is way ahead of its time. If you didn't know what yer it was from you would probably guess the wrong year by at least four years. Andy had a prolific, rich, sultry voice that really speaks to your soul. Andy could not be replaced. No wonder Eddie Vedder picked up Stone And Jeff from Mother Love Bone and made Pearl Jam. I think that Mother Love Bone would have been HUGE, and that the Loss of Andy had a Gigantic impact on later Grunge into Alternative and Alternative rock. Pearl Jam would not have existed had Andy not died. These guys seemed to really belong together. More so than even Pearl Jam. What a Talented, beautiful Boy Andy was. What a tragic Loss for all of us. Rest in Peace and Light Andrew..

      Kaitlyn Price, you took the words right out of my mouth. On another note, I am deeply displeased to hear or read when people call this type, era, or genre of music grunge. The bands and individual artists didn't call it that the media coined the term. I guess they needed a name for this style of music so they picked what we know today. FFT

    • @bringbackreagan1
      @bringbackreagan1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kaitlyn Price that’s true, through the recommendation of Jack Irons. They sent Eddie a demo tape with just music, hence Footsteps was born. I think they flew him up to Seattle from San Diego the day after they received said demo tape and the rest is history! I personally think PJ is an honor to Andy. It’s not the same genre but Jeff and Stone weren’t looking for an Andy tribute band. They wanted a fresh start and by God, it worked! Stone was the glue in PJ at first but roles switched over to Eddie fairly soon. It’s good to see a band where egos don’t take over. Once that starts, that band’s life span won’t be very long. There’s no I in TEAM✌️

      Yes. Greg Gilmore is considered to be the best drummer in Seattle.

      .....You sure about that? Matt Cameron generally holds that title in these parts.

    • @kat1york
      @kat1york 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nitrousoxide2k Matt Cameron is a beast on the drums. Ironically it was Chris Cornell that made that statement about Greg.

      I'm a humongous Crue(correct spelling) fan. Have been forever.
      If u think Vince Neil is or ever was a good vocalist you're nuts.

    Led Zeppelin and Tool combination, da na da na, da na da na, da na, na na, da na, da na. Love this band. Tool totally robbed them clean, but it was out of respect.

    • @richardmbowman
      @richardmbowman 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No. Tool did not steal from them....any more than MLB stole some of this from several 1970's bands... Some influences show here and there. This almost always happens........ who is without them? Almost nothing is totally original. But then, it is very well said that "emulation is the sincerest form of flattery"... and also, it was no one less than Plato who opined "...if you're going to borrow, by all means, borrow from the best..." Peace out.....from Seattle...

      Richard Marshall Bowman, it was Plato who also said, "...only the dead have seen the end of war." Just a little food for thought, although this quote has nothing to do with Andrew Wood or your post. Lol

    Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty was manyrds first band daring the same era already came up with sobers demo so it was original all the way threw since it came out around or possibly before this song
