Lol... I turned 62 on September 20, 222 and I still listen to mlb as well as the other Seattle bands that became popular in the 80's/90s and I will until the day I die!
Still listening in 2024. I recall when Andrew passed and we're coming up on 35 years ago. From the passing of the Star Child arose from the dark void Temple of the Dog and Pearl Jam. Never forget your roots because even though roots can't be seen, they still grow.

Well said dude or dudette ... amazing music they made .
I only recently learned the story of Andy Wood. I never knew so many songs were written in his memory. I was blown away by the talent and charisma this guy had. Now, I know the whole story of the Seattle music scene and how Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone were the ones that inspired so many others. I am amazed that this kid was singing in a band at the age of 14, signed with a label by the age of 23, and left us at only 24 years old before even seeing the first album released. I had to watch the movie, Singles, again with all of this newfound knowledge and respect for all of the bands that were in the movie. But, it was really sad knowing that Andy died a little over a year before the film was made because you KNOW he would've been in it. In the scene where Linda runs out of the bar crying I saw the last 2 words of "Mother Love Bone" spray painted on the wall and had to hit pause. I have watched everything I can find about Andy's life. The world lost a unique and talented young man March 19th, 1990. I have to admit...when I first saw Andy, I immediately thought of Jay (Jason Mewes)...I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith's movies and can't help but wonder if Jay was a fan of Andy's too...because there are some really strong similarities. Anyway, R.I.P. Andy...I didn't know you...but I'm sure we would've been friends.
Dude...check out the documentary titled "Hype". All about the Seattle scene. I lived it and it only touches on what Andy meant but it's all just memories now. I was devastated by his death. The promise of Malfunkshun and the steadiness of Green River gave birth to Lovebone (my fucking favorite) and eventually led to PJ. You can find so many other documentaries. "Singles" was a taste...dig deeper and you can find stories about what really happened. Here's a taste of Alice in Chains and my friend Mike Starr.
I named my first daughter Chloe. She was my second Child. And when I herd Chloe crown of thorns....well I had a mother love bone hook in my music receptors
I should have been listening to this a long time ago. The world is truely robbed of an amazing singer and lyricist in Andy Wood. I think Seattle’s cursed, and blessed at the same time (i say this as a child of 80’s rural Washington st). So few frontmen left from the early 90’s. All legends in their own right.
It is an honor to speak about Andy Woods, it is pretty much a numb feeling when I think about his death 💔 we know that they are at peace . . . Layne, Chris, Andrew, and all of the others, we know that they are with the Lord❤ if there is any one in your life that is struggling, no matter if it seems like it's not that big of a deal . . . reach out to them if you can. It will save their life and others to come❤
When I saw Temple of the Dog last November down in LA, they did a number of MLB songs. Like.. a lot. At one point - I think it was during Heartshine - I just got this feeling, like Chris was singing to Andy. I'm still getting chills thinking about that moment that night, especially now, post-May 18.
Hi Hannah TH-cam is my very favorite thing in the internet so I am happy to see you on here! Still would love to get you on my art blog if you ever want to do it :)
Andy was the epitome of lyricists and was all Seattle rolled up in one man. Xana thanks for being so kind to us. Chloe Dancer/Crown of thorns is already slated to play when my pics roll by on that funeral home.. I understand the ‘Story of Mr Faded Glory’ and it reached me like nothing before.
@@samuelpile4024 Yeah, I'm now thinking that, since Rose 77' has given me some insight, maybe a lot of what we were hearing from PJ and SG were actually Andy's lyrics. I mean how would you know that they weren't??? This is really bold thing to say, I know, but I'm really anxious to look into it, now. You guys will definitely be hearing from me. Unless I find that there's nothing really going on. But after hearing this song, lyrically it's pure dope!!!

Andrew wood is absolutely the love of my life, I have a deep deep obsession with his free spirited beauty, his soul his humor, his smile, his addiction, his pains, Andrew wood is a God in my book, he set the grunge stage, we wouldn't have, pearl jam, temple of the dog, and so many more if Andrew wood the love child hadn't passed away. I'm an addict of 20+ years, I'm an 80's love child, and the only words that really mean anything are, "words and music" ;) "man of golden words" should have been in the Bible, Andrew wood, Landrew, Love Child, you own my soul, you are my light in the dark, you are a man of golden words and thank you for being that in so many more people's lives ❤️💗 rip 🙏

in '93, someone gave me a Mother Love Bone/Temple of The Dog tape. I was a NYC bootleg dealer Nirvana freak with all the "accoutrements". 25 years later, I still remained curious about Andrew Wood. At the time, in NYC, all anyone seemed to know was he was this folk hero figure who ran at the forefront of the Seattle movement who was slated by his peers as the one meant for mass success. A mysterious figurehead, if you will. He existed as the intriguing voice with wide timbre who'd capably carry you through the first side of the MLB/Temple tape. I kinda liked it left at that though. I liked that pieces of the puzzle were missing so you can conjure your own imaginative conception of who this person might be like. The voice and the imagery put across were fulfilling all on their own anyway. Presence and depth came out of the speakers and filled the room. But so did absence, due to the missing profile. In 2018, I decided to learn more cuz I knew there'd now be informative biography material. I saw the doc and couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was all I could ever want in a rock star. That cocky and sexy voice I'd dug on 25 years ago now belonged to a multifaceted, fully fleshed out, person. There was so much to him too. The things he took from culture to meld into his own persona was the way it should've been done all along. There was nobody better. And his other sides. The childlike playful nature, the wonder, the expressive poetic ability, and especially the androgyny. I would've loved to be in his head, conflicts and all. Affectionate. Vibrant. Full of life. I got a few good stories out of him. Rip Andrew we still miss u dude.
Hey Xana. I am from NC. About 14 years ago a friend of mine and myself covered this acoustically at a open mic dive bar. He was singing and playing acoustic guitar and I was playing acoustic bass. We got a beautiful response! And a bass player from another band walked up to the stage unzipped his leather jacket and had a Mother Love Bone t-shirt on! 😃 My friend and me still talk about that memory. I told him, no one can cover "Bone China" like us.

Clicked on this before even realizing you posted it Xana. I’ve fallen asleep to this many times.
Oh the 90s I was about to have a kid ... went to the record store in gig harbor Washington and the owner says you guys have got to hear this. Was their ep. I fell in love... funny end after having my young daughter listen to this I was telling my best friend we worked together... and he says u know brian in the lower shop used to live next door the the woods. I got a few good stories out of him. Rip Andrew we still miss u dude.
Happy to be part of this time period when I was 19 it was fucking magical!!!

Thinking of you Xana ❤️✌️🤘
2022!! RIP Andrew. I named my Son ... after you! Your always with Us!!
FINALLY, a great vid to go with a GREAT song !! Well done, amiga !!
He is like a lost boy trapped in time.
