    i think they should still keep the "you die you go back to the beginning" thing cuz thats the point of a rougelike , it makes the buffs /debuff you get from the tv section more impactful and its more risky

    PEN is a short from Penetration, the thing that penetrates defense. Impact is probably the thing that increases stagger on enemies.

      There is tips in game menu where you can read about everything. I dont know why people cant read simple things while exploring new games, especially when its your job.

    impact must be related to poise damage (hitstun) and PEN is definitely penetration (armor piercing) the ratio must mean the chance of penetrating and the other means the amount of damage it penetrates

      Or perhaps it is like in some MOBA games where % PEN refers to percentage of defense that is ignored (i.e. if your opponent has 1000 def and you have 10% PEN, you ignore 100 armor with your attacks) while regular PEN refers to flat amount of defense that is ignored (i.e. if you have 50 PEN, you ignore 50 def with your attacks)

      Impact could mean faster shield breaking on some games too, so maybe faster yellow bar generation on attacks?

      Impact stat would probably be the baseline stagger generation, seeing as each attack has a % multiplier value for stagger generation. As for PEN% and PEN, yeah it almost certainly refers to “penetration,” or armor piercing; based on how most Hoyoverse games go about stats, PEN% is likely the % chance for any of that character’s attacks to inflict penetration, while PEN itself is the amount of DEF reduced when penetration is inflicted. PEN stats would likely be optimal on a character designed to be used as the QTE in-between of your tank (stagger generator) and your main DPS, and would be used instead of crit stats on said characters if the choice was between crit and PEN. Basically, PEN stats are your support stats, akin to running 4-piece VV on an anemo unit in genshin, and for largely similar results.

    It seems you didn't have enough time for this Test build cause majority of your questions were explained in game with NPC dialogs and comissions. Also saying Nicole doesn't have enough s when she literary is Immune while using her charged E is funny (her venti ability).

    I do appreciate that the challenge doesn't seem to be from timed dps checks and instead more traditional kinds of difficulty. I wish Genshin would shift that direction to some degree.

      I’d like that too and share your preferences, but the issue with leaning toward player skill instead of player power is that a huge number and I’d wager majority of players are playing on mobile. Small screen + janky finicky touch controls + mechanical difficulty = frustration and a generally bad time. Even genshin, simple as it is, is pushing the limits of what the average person can handle with touchscreen controls. I actually used to think genshin was fairly difficult, then about a year in I decided to try it on pc with a controller and it instantly went from mildly difficult to piss easy, even with me being very comfortable with touch controls.

      Yeah being a Day 1 player and Ar 60, really bored right now. Already built all the meta and non meta characters, being able to clear Abyss full stars each reset, there's really nothing to do now.

    The icons below the name show whether the character deals slashing, piercing or blunt damage, and what type of damage they deal (phyiscal, fire, wind or lightning).
    In case of Nekomiya, she's a slashing type that deals physical damage.

    I kinda like that there are no healers and you have to start all the way over makes the game more tense and prevents people from running away and healing constantly. This also allows them to not have to worry about a timer which I absolutely hate timers in action games.

    Not sure what Impact is, they might have just added it since ZZZ doesn't have "impact" in the name.
    Pen is most likely penetration; pen being a flat value, and %pen that reduces a target's def by that % .
    In other games, let's say the enemy has 200 Def and you have 10% pen and 10 flat pen; the enemy defense your attacks see when damage calculation occurs will be (200 - 10) * (1.00 - 0.10) = 171.5 DEF.
    I'm using Smite for this example.
    Skill ability: (200 +50%atk)
    Atk: 200
    %Pen: 10% pen
    Flat Pen: 10 pen
    Enemy Def: 100
    Active Def = (Enemy Def - Flat Pen) * (1 - %Pen)
    = (100 - 10)* (1 - 0.1) = 81 Def
    DMG Output = (Skill ability) * [100/(100+Active Def)]
    = (200 + 0.5*200) * [100/(100+81)] = 166 DMG
    In this game, %Pen is much better against tanky enemies (Def > 100), and flat pen is better against squishies (Def

      Man there is literally in game menu "tips" about everything. There you can find guides about stats, gameplay, Ui and other things. But 90% people cant read and just skip everything and then don't understand what they doing.

    The icons under the name indicate the type of the attack and type of damage dealt.
    For attack types, they are displayed to the left and we have slashing (the spiral symbol), piercing (the bullet symbol) and blunt (boxing glove) damage. It will most likely be used in a weakness system, with certain enemies being strong or weak against some attack types. Typically slash is strong against unshielded targets, pierce works well against enemies with physical armor and blunt deals increased damage to energy shields.
    For damage types/elements, look to the right symbol, we currently have Physical, Fire, Ice, Lightning and Wind, marked by an explosion, a flame, a 6-armed star, a thunderbolt and a circle in that order.
    For example, Nekomata uses slashing attacks to deal physical damage, but Von Lycaon (butler) uses blunt attacks to deal ice damage. It is worth pointing out that elemental characters often still deal limited amounts of physical damage with their basic attacks. Additionally, Aokaku (Oni) has both slashing and blunt listed in her character together with dealing Wind damage, which means that we might get characters with multiple attack types and elements.
    PS: please correct me if I’m wrong, I didn’t get the beta and that’s all just scavenged from streams

    I hope they keep the difficulty so genshin could be the easy casual game while some of the more hardcore people get zzz, i think thats a good way to balance players

      At least you can sacrifice useless artifacts to reroll.
      You should be able to do something like farming flintstone in Minecraft by breaking and replacing the same block of gravel, but with artifacts

      ​@@wisgarus Yes im fine with farming but the worst part is that you have limited attempts per day. For example if you can only break a gravel 4 times per day and if you get no flint, you have to wait 18 hours to try again. That is the worst part.

    As both a Genshin and Honkai player, this game is waaay more Honkai Impact than Genshin Impact in terms of similarities but I dig it, it's looking good

    for me the TV hopping experience is kinda refreshing. it's like having a break in-between battles.
    I don't really understand why some people don't enjoy that aspect as much. but then again I didn't get a tuning test qualification so actually playing through with my own hands might change my mind.

    Maybe I'm the only one who thought it would be more a rogue like/lite with a Permadeath side, die and you start again from the beginning or have a real build wich changes the gameplay idk
    (In the end is like autopoesis maze in pgr?)

      Maze in PGR? If you die there you restart that stage not the whole maze so the system here in ZZZ is closer to roguelike coz when you die you restart the whole commission w/o rewards

    Have you ever played any rogue likes before? Like had some experience with it or are you a newbie in them? As a roguelike lover and enjoyer, this game really grabs my attention! I never imagined the thought of gacha roguelike made by hoyoverse, it sounds like when it releases its gonna be pretty cool!

      The rouge-like element really gives ZZZ a completely different feel than genshin, honkai, or star rail. I'm quite interested in it too. We know hoyo is good at designing appealing characters and their stories already, so as long as they can nail down the combat system, progression system, and most importantly the game economy as well, this game will probably do great. My main concern is the business model to be honest.
      Right now we have no idea what the gacha system is gonna be like and what stuff are gonna be on the gacha. Gacha for the characters is pretty much expected, but we don't know if anything else like good equipment or character dupes or whatever else are also locked behind a paywall and how impactful they will be. If the discrepancy between whale and f2p is too much, it's not gonna be enjoyable for f2p to play, they will feel super weak compared to the spenders. At the same time, if the discrepancy is too little, then there would be no incentive for people to whale, so the game won't sell well and it'll die pretty fast. So there has to be a fine balance, and I hope they can do good. I have faith though because Hoyo have proven their money-making skills already through Honkai and Genshin.

    Now, the most important question, do you see the character hangout randomly in the main world lobby? I feel like i saw billy and neko in some area but i dont know if it was quest/lore related or just fun interaction thingy with your characters.

      You do. The characters hangout the hub at certain times specially the three standard characters(Billy, nicole, and andy)

    Not resetting the run after death in a rouguelike is equivalent of a shooter's game without anything to shoot. It essentially takes away the genre.

      Yeah I'm glad this is more punishing endgame than Genshin. Hopefully the monsters are actually hard though. Not just stat sticks that you need to upgrade to beat.

    PEN maybe like shield breaking, comparable to Genshin's elemental shield breaking, since shields in this game are more utilized in all monsters and you need them for QTE combos and stuff, so it makes sense

    As much as i loved exploring in Genshin, i played Honkai first and I had no problem with not exploring, we had places like A Post Honkai Odessy, Sakura Samsara(?) And the HQ where you walked around doing things. Their scales are not as big as in Genshin but it was enough for me considering that I rarely have free time, I just want to brawl. It is understandable as to why some people would want it to be open world though

    In BHO, pen is from Pennetration, for PVP purpose. So our attack can penetrate player's defense/armor. Generally speaking, it's damage increase VS other player

    I like what I have seen so far from this game and Honkai: Star Rail.
    I really want them to be buy to play with only a few expansions as DLCs (no live-service games), that will also require less time compared to Genshin. I feel like people will start to be tired out of their games if they have to focus on multiple of their games for long periods of time (like they need to do with Honkai 3rd and Genshin).
    Also, there is no need for extra cash after the initial buy (no shops, gacha, or battle passes), miHoYo already earns more than enough with Genshin, and a few small buy to play titles that will expand the universe will be great and still bring them a good amount of cash.

    The words "challenging" and "difficult" take a whole new dimension after playing "from software" games. I'm afraid any difficulty might be overcome just by leveling and min/maxing characters.
    Hopefully late game mission will still be a challenge even with a maxed team and the right buffs. But I doubt it, because it would mean they'd be unbeatable for people who don't know the meta. So I think it's inevitable this game will become too easy once you optimized everything outside of the combat area.

      Funnily enough, its the old Arcade games that truly bring the challenge. FromSoft games, even after having played all (from AC to ER), get very very predictable.
      Who knows? Maybe the roguelike aspect will give this game a fair bit of vertical difficulty.

    The part i enjoyed the most in this video is still Genshin music. Lol.
    After checking out Tower of Fantasy, Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero, it makes me realize how good is Genshin and i wonder if any future game of the same genre can dethrone it.

    I don't think I'll be playing this game though if I ever get to play in a beta it might sway me one way or another. I like many of the concepts of this game but so far the characters don't attract me as much as Genshin's or Honkai's. I'm very much hyped for Honkai Star Rail though and I pray I'll be able to play one of the betas.
    By the way, I was really interested by the character segment you did and would really like to see gameplay from each of them!

    since end game isn't time-based like Honkai or Genshin Abyss, that means stats like DEF and HP aren't dead stats. Already that's a huge plus.

      We don't really know if this is "endgame". This is "endgame" of his 10 hours in the beta. We can tell this because his characters are only lvl 40 and I doubt that is the max level for characters.

    flat pen and percentage pen are stats that can ignore armor so if you have enemies with low armor flat pen is better and with high armor percentage pen is better

    So the star system is like constellation BUT, this might give you one impression that they MIGHT give you a whole character for free as a demo version or at least grinding for them that is not related to gacha, BUT if you want them to be stronger you will need to roll for them in the banner. So you don't pull for characters, you pull for tokens to upgrade them

      Doubt. Honkai has a more similar system… the tokens are used for initial unlock and the first star is the same cost as the first pull amount(in this case 10) so likely you will need to pull a character 11 times to max them

      @@calebhogan590 doesnt honaki have some characters where they start as s ranks and some that start of b rank. like im pretty sure you can have an A rank s ranks and ss rank seele but you cant have an a rank vermillion knight eclipse. from zzz beta seems like everyone starts with 1 star, and from what ive heard there arent a group of characters that are clearly surperior so hopefully the characters all start at he same point (1 star) and improve at similar rates to each other depending on who you build

      Being a Beta is very hard to pinpoint the gacha system
      Genshin Beta gave character by email a lot of times for people to try it

    when you die in roguelike you lose all progress. im fine with that. Makes the challenge of surviving that much more important. also considering there is perfect dodging with i frames as well as alot of skills of characters with i frames. gotta abuse those mechanics :,) super excited for this game tbh

    so far the only kinda downside is that there is not a free party and it seems more like changing between party members works turn based.
    If that gets changed simply into something like genshin it would be great

    My question is, and has been, will we need to Gacha characters initially once the game is out?
    Am I going to get a character I don't want (Butler Dog) before I get the one character I do want (Pink Haired Waifu)?

    4:07 I think you didn't quite understand what these Stars means. It's more like Genhin's leveling-Ascension (and it literally says "Ascenssion" in the game).
    Ascensions in Genshin also increases base stats + unocks Talents as well.
    You can even see a "primogem" Stars in the Genhin's Character Window, where character starts with 0 Stars... and each ascension adds +1 (up to 6 Stars).
    This is the exactly same thing in ZZZ, so, pretty sure you can't level up past 20/40 lvl without doing that.

    PEN - probably penetration as in shield penetration. Probably something they haven't implemented yet.

    Love the aesthetic of the game but idk for the gameplay… seems repetitiv like just smash atk button and dodge
    For a game based on combat a hope they will improve the gameplay to be more deep

      It looks like the most important thing in this game is just knowing the enemy tells. Everything else will help your clears a bit, but yeah--looks like mash button, dodge, use QTE. Maybe the combos of characters and which QTE's you use first begin to create a meta needed for higher content? Its all so early, so who knows?

      Begging them to get rid of the artifact system too. I hate it so much, it was bad in genshin, and it made levelling up characters in star rail suck too. Wish we could just create the gear we want with enough time and farming

      @@butter4104 Guess it wouldn't be a gacha without rng gear. But I do have to admit it feels like shit. I've spent over 20 fuel on the atk set in star rail alone and I haven't gotten a single piece to show for it. It makes it really hard to want to keep grinding when your luck is THAT bad. It arguably felt better in genshin, so at the least I hope this game has better rates or something. Maybe a system where you can exchange a certain amount of artifacts or artifact points to select a main stat piece or something, that way if your luck IS that terrible (like mine) I would at least be able to exchange all my garbage artifacts for a mainstat I'm looking for.

    I just hope all good system of Honkai Impact 3 is implemented on this game cause is use fast battle system.
    I see some of honkai system is already implemented like QTE
    upgrade rank/star of char is using chip similar to honkai shard
    Char special ability like slash, ice damage etc (maybe) show by the icon on below char name
    But some system that I dont like from genshin also implemented in here like
    Level Ascension, hope this will be removed on final release or maybe on end game just like honkai just pull all exp chip to the max char level.
    disk is more artifact so is base your luck
    8:50 I feel is similar like elysian realm on honkai cause you can select buff and play through many floor or level...

    Love the way they are taking more inspiration from Honkai, that’s a step in the right direction, upgrading system of genshin is severely flawed imo, too much work and it’s even time gated

      Nah, terrible to only upgrade one level of each char when we go up one level in captain level.
      Take too long after 70.
      In genshin is very fast until 55 and in that level we already can max our chars.
