Some of those old dungeons were almost one-page dungeons, once you unfolded the cover and looked at the blue and white map inside. Some had two pages, like G1.

I love your obvious passion for the craft. Your finished product is amazing and shows your heart and soul were poured into it. Also, your presentation of the process is succinct and as polished as the final product. The art/layout of the dungeon is incredible but the interconnected stories for the various chambers ties it all together, creating a compelling dungeon. It gave me a few ideas as I plan a new city for my campaign.

I greatly enjoyed watching the nuts and bolts of your process. I'm an aspiring DnD content crestor with no art background but a non-zero of art supplies, so it was very useful to see what you do.
On a dungeon design note, though, I would recommend at least one branching path or alternate entrance, perhaps one through the caverns.

I've been creating 1 page dungeons in books of graph paper for the last 20 years. I get board, pull out one of my spiral bound books of graph paper, attempt to find a blank page, and start drawing. I have dungeons, forest, cities, continents, castles, houses, stables, all sorts of things all designed on a single page... Some on a sheet where you find a set of stairs and flip the sheet over and the second layer is on the back of the page.

This is a great idea. Although I enjoy the WOTC products and the extensive amounts of backstory and info, practically speaking when preparing for a game night, I am often whittling things down to essentials which your work here captures. Your unique style is so visually appealing which further makes your work compelling. Great thoughts and a equally fantastic creation. Well done!

Two years too late but I just found your videos. I really like your approach and the map looks gorgeous! I think it would make for a fun one-shot adventure, though with one tweak. The MM Wraith is a little boring, as all it can really do is swipe and life drain. If one is going to be a boss it needs some spice to make the fight exciting. Maybe the priest's journal hints at a specific weakness? It maybe contains a passage of holy prayer that one of the PC's must repeat to stun the wraith? Maybe the wraith has some spells slots, or maybe he's got some minions of his own? The chapel room could have a second level, a wraparound walkway with pews that is accessed by some stairs and up there are some skeletal archers. Or you could go Dark Souls-style with it; on the second level are undead minions that utter cursed prayers to the wraith and give him a shield of sorts. Tons of options! Really fun video that got me thinking creatively!

Ok, so I recognize that this video is 3 years old, but I found it and loved it and when I had half my players cancel on me for game night last night, I decided to run it for the other 3 as a "side quest". They're playing through the Goodman Games 5e Isle of Dread classic adventure, so I modified the backstory of the temple a little to match that setting. They also didn't have anyone who needed ot be ressurected so I changed it a bit that they could place the crystal in the hands of the statue and it would become charged, allowing them to use it for 1 "free" ressurection in the future.
They loved it! They breezed through the first few rooms, killing the rats (I put 8 in that room) and the skeletal acolytes (I put 4). I also had a bit of a trap associated with the dorm room - I decided that if they distrubed the old, mouldy beds that the room would fill with toxic spoores (1d8 damage + poisoned unless they make a Con (14) Save). They had some trouble getting down to the bottom of the chasm - they used the well but didn't trust the rope so used their own and one character still managed to fail their athletics check and fell. They climbed up the other side after fighting the Nothic. Then the real fun started with the Corpse Monstrosity taking its toll on them (two of them were consumed at least once, one more than once!) and they were convinced that that was the Big Boss until the wraith showed up in the final room. Suffice to say, it was a nail-bighter of a fight and two characters definitely lost a fair bit of max-HP to the wrait (14 for the fighter, 18 for the rogue!) They managed to eek through though, and I gave them a few magic items that they found in the Nothic's lair and a fair chunk of XP for their efforts.
Interestingly, I imported your map into Roll20 and enabled Dynamic Lighting. Since all 3 PCs were human, they needed to manage their light spells/torches effectively which was a neat addition. The players all reported that doing it that way definitely incrased the spook-factor and left them all with a sense of dread as they moved through. I don't always love using Dynamic Lighting for a few reasons, but it was a neat addition to this 1-page dungeon.
Thanks for a great evening's worth of fun adventure. I'll definitely be trying my hand at my own 1-page dungeons in the near future.

I have a theory on how one page dungeons started and that is they developed out of necessity. I don't think any one person created it but rather the community as a whole. This approach makes it so much easier for the GM to create something quickly and have some depth to it at the same time. I can see over time how easy it would be to create an entire campaign one page at a time and building upon each page with new content over time. You could not only do dungeons but areas of land, towns, and even cities.
