Ive never understood how Storm isnt like, one of the most powerful mutants out there.....she fuckin controls the weather, thats a pretty huge deal. she could like, end the world if she really wanted to
She is viewed as one of the most powerful mutants. Beat cyclops for leadership of the team and basically sits behind magneto, cable and whomever has the Phoenix force.

Storm was also the first woman X-Men Leader. She led the X-Men for a very long time without her mutant powers. Storm also married the Black Panther and their marriage was a huge symbol during the Super-Hero Civil War Caused by the registration act. Storm is not just a typical Marvel character. She may not be obtaining the amount of exposure Wolverine, Ironman, and Hulk but she is still a crucial hero in the Marvel Franchise!!

Actually Storm was 'posed to be Xavier's very first student before Shadow King intervened. Tje movies throw alot off things off and confuses things in true Marvel. Ignorant ppl choose to follow these scripts instead of researching the truth...the fictional truth atleast, lol

Storm is the most disrespected and under appreciated character in Marvel. Some one with even a little control over the weather would be a true force, let alone someone with Storm's control. Just look at Sandy and Katrina. Few mutants could survive an attack like from Storm IF the writers would document her abilities consistently instead of making her weak. I would love to take over her image in Marvel. She is easily Omega-Level and anytime you can reduce a telepath's ability to get into your mind you aught to be more respected.
Well it's already been confirmed that she could in fact destroy the entire plant if she wanted to. She nearly destroyed earth after hearing her beloved die.
+Don Black Storm has the greatest mental control out of all of the mutants, including Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix. Her mind could literally do WONDERS. It took a LOT to even get her to act as wild as she did in that season 3 episode of "Savage Land, Savage Heart" in the X-men TAS show where Sauron manipulated her mind with his control. It wasn't an easy process but the writers for that two part episode understood what she could do (even though it was limited), at that type of level.

Considering that Jean is no longer Dark Phoenix but White Phoenix of the Crown, Storm does not have more mental control than Jean. But with everyone else, yes Storm does.

I think out of all the x men members Storm has the richest back story that has yet to be fully protrayed in the media.

Storm is one of my favs. I believe this character was inspired by the Western African deity Oya who is known as the goddess of wind and change from the Yoruba/Orishas. Oya's husband was Shango in whom may be Black Panther. Its said through the stories of the Orisha's that when Shango and Oya are dancing and chaos happens.

Damn. Storm had a rough childhood. Not to mention she is one of the most underrated characters in Marvel. I mean, just look at her fight scenes in the movies. She stay getting her ass whooped. I wanna see her engage in some hand to hand combat or something. I wanna see a new extent of her power other than just making lightning fall from the sky.

+Danyel Pullen There was a long period where she had lost her powers and had to rely on her own strength and abilities. She was a total badass. She beat cyclops in a one-on-one battle for the leadership of the team with no powers using her wits and the terrain they were in. He walked away, leaving her in charge.
I don't know if you know this, but Storm is actually a master and unarmed, hand-to-hand combat. You are so right that she basically gets her ass seasoned and grilled well done in EVERY movie. I used to be annoyed at this, but then I just realized that even though she could cause hurricane Katrina and destroy every damn thing, it wouldn't make for a great movie cuz.. well shit that would be the end of the movie.
And people LOVE to complain about X3, while giving X1 and X2 a pass, even though they FUCKED up Storm's badass character. In X3, at least they finally got her right, making her a true LEADER and having her finally fucking FLY

I hated her portrayal in the movies. She had no character, no back story, no nothing. And I think it would be worth mentioning that she also became Black Panther's wife making her also the queen of Wakanda.

The thing about Storm is that whenever she is written in a comic, her powers are always inconsistent. It has been said she would be considered an omega-level mutant. Sometimes she has to see the outside in order to use her power. Other times she can use them indoors. Sometimes she is written where she can't shoot out lightining form her hands, others she can easily. So they neve r really went into detail about what all she CAN do.
In theory at her highest peak in one of the uncanny "What If" scenarios. Instead of Jean merging with the Phoenix Force, Storm did instead. With the power of the Phoenix, she could easily put an entire planet into a global ice age. Whenever someone threatened her authority she would hurl them into space and put them in a deep frozen state.
Ever since Hollywood and Halle Berry's portrayal of Storm. They have dumbed down her powers and people look at her as someone who can just control weather when she can do much more than that.
A quick list of notable things she has done with her powers:
Create a dome of pressurized air that acted as a shield. Using an ancestral ruby with lightening to teleport to different spiritual plains. Creating category 5 hurricanes. Sucking the air out of lungs. Breathing underwater by using electrolysis. Freezing enemies into a cryogenic state.

If I could have anyone's power it would be Storms. I honestly think with her abilities to control weather she is one of the more powerful. Yes Magneto can control metal. But that's hard to do when Storm creates a ice storm or Level 5 Hurricane. She is at least the most powerful when it comes to controlling nature
Jonathan Petrosky Storm has manipulated weather in space, creating solar wins that could cause geomagnetic storms that would quite possibly render Magneto temporarily useless.
Scientist today are still trying to create manmade weather patterns. I remember reading an article stating that 'the creation of manmade weather could be one of the most deadliest weapons created.' Probably due to the fact that weather can be so destructive and precisely being able to control an area with that would be a terrifying weapon.
Thus making my opinion even further true. That Storm is in my opinion the most powerful. Considering if there isn't anyone else who can do the same.
She is very powerful in what she can do, but there are others who are more powerful than her. Although Phoenix/Dark Phoenix (or any other telekinetic) have a hard time reading her mind since she is always surrounded by a low static electricity that clouds her thoughts. She still limited against her. Since she is still on a mortal level, her powers are also little to no match to Thor. Since Thor is considered a god-like being, his powers over weather are unlimited. Thor's weather manipulation can be global, while as Storm can only control certain areas with her power. (Such as, taking weather patterns from one area of the globe and moving it to another). The thing is, as I said before, she has been written as weak and has also been written as virtually unstoppable. It basically comes down to whoever is writing her in the comics at the time.

youruglymugg Yes that's true but even they did make Storm a major player, Halle Berry still isn't that good of an actress to really inhabit Storm the way she should be even with the right direction. She's just not that strong, gorgeous definitely, but not strong enough. Plus, unless you knew Storm was African, no one who only watches the movies would have known that as Berry could not hold an accent.
In the X-MEN animated series from the 90s, Storm's one weakness is claustrophobia.

Storm is one of my favorite x-men characters from the 90s cartoon. Why everyone hating on Halle Berry playing Storm. Who else could they had chosen back when the first film came out.
Because Halle Berry does not give off that exotic "I've been worshipped as a Goddess" vibe. She gives off the "girl next door" vibe. A poor choice to play the exotic, self-assured, and regal Storm.

Vanessa Williams would have been the perfect Storm. There are countless other actresses who could have pulled this off but I guess the only black actress you know of is Halle Berry.
That toad struck by lightning line completely ruined the badassery of her walking out of those smashed doors, hair adrift with flickers of lightning.

Kool Keith Productions Yeah I always hear people giving X3 a hard time for whatever reason but I could not find a reason to dislike it so strongly.
I mean its not an AMAZING movie, and I don't know enough about X-Men to be offended at whatever they might of changed....but I thought it was a fun movie with some good action scenes and I actually re-watched it quite a few times when I first bought the box set trilogy.
The new movies are good as well...but I will personally disembowel anyone who says Jennifer fucking Lawrence is a better Mystique than Rebecca Romijn.
***** They shit on X3 for 3 main reasons:
1, because they changed the Dark Phoenix story arc drastically from the comics...but they HAD to. The comics were talking about Cosmic beings, space travel, and aliens and shit. But how could they set that up in X3, when nothing like that was set up in the other films? Making Jean just have a split personality made more sense.
2nd, because Cyclops is killed off....but they HAD to. The actor who played him bascially left the project to be in the 2006 Superman movie, so if he was leaving Marvel for DC, then he DESERVED to die. lol
3rd, because Professor X "died"...but he didn't REALLY die, which is shown by him being alive in the other X-Men films, so I don't know why the hell people keep saying he died in X3
But you're right. X3 was a good action movie. Was it a good X-Men movie? Probably not, because of the things they changed, but it still doesn't deserve the amount of shit it gets. It did somethings worse than the first films, but I think it did most things better then them. And yeah, Rebecca Romijn is way a way hotter Mystique than J-Law :P

Why can't we get THIS movie made? Storm should be commanding the team in the new days of future past movie. It only makes sense now that Cyclops is dead. Or they could just let Wolvie steal all the screen time like they always do.
It's a live action movie. Wolverine will probably get it all. Which sadly killed the other movies.
Wolverine has the biggest X-men fan base.
Moon Man Which isn't an excuse to make him the star of it all. X-Men 3 had the phoenix storyline along with others. The Phoenix one had little to do with Wolverine and all about Scott and Jean. Only part Wolverine had in it was he had a chance to kill her but couldn't bring himself to do it because of his love for her. The comic did it perfectly. The struggle with Scott as he leads everyone against the woman he absolutely loves. They also killed Xavier who had a good part in it as well. With his help Jean fought back against Phoenix. The movies though had to make it a Wolverine wankfest and kill off the characters who's parts were key in said story arc. The Magneto's rebellion thing should have been a whole other movie instead of a tie in.

Not just explode, Gambit can boost an object's acceleration. His charging time depends on the size of the object that he's charging, that's why he mostly uses cards. He uses his powers to boost his own abilities (ie... strength, speed, agility etc.) He also has an alternate ability because he was once made by Apocalypse as the Horseman of Death. As Death, he can turn inert objects into toxic substances. Currently he can change abilities/persona at his own will.
About Wolverine, yup, he is basically immortal... but it also depends on who the writer is. :)
Cyclops doesn't have nuclear fusion plasma beams, what he has is an optical concussive energy beam. There are two stories on how he gets his optic blasts, one is that he absorbs ambient energy from the sun and essentially from anything around him. The other is that the energy from his optic blasts come from another dimension. His blasts are strong enough to knock Thor's hammer from his hand and overload Bishop's energy absorption power.
Hank/Beast has an essentially genius level intellect and has superhuman physical abilities and is said to be on par with the genius of Reed Richards. He also made the cure for the legacy virus.
Iceman... Hmmmm... He is an omega class mutant on par with Jean Grey. Need I say more?
Angel... accelerated healing factor, superhuman physical abilities, his blood can heal others that match his blood type (even to the point that his blood can resurrect someone who has recently died). He is a descendant of the Cheyarafim (a race of angel like mutants who lived during the ancient times)

Madalin Grama Wasn't Gambit basically the most powerful mutant ever born? Before Mr. Sinister helped weaken him that is. IIRC he is the only thing in existence that can create energy from nothing. He had super healing powers by accelerating his own cells with pure energy. That also gave him super speed, strength, and agility. Not to mention his innate hypnosis that affects everyone around him. In one alternate reality, he fully realized his power and instantaneously destroyed the Earth simply by being on it.

I love Storm, so I was really upset when they casted Haley B. (I love HB also) but she's not fit to play Storm, the wig was bad, accent was off, and she didn't even look like Storm. I need Marvel to do better.
That's the problem. The X-Men movies have literally NOTHING to do with Marvel. X-Men in its cinematic form, is owned by Fox, and as long add they keep making movies they keep the rights; just like Sony and Spiderman. The maneuvering it took for Disney/Marvel to get the rights to just BORROW Spidey was ridiculous. It's unlikely we'll ever see a legit Marvel reimagining of the franchise

If I'm no mistake, Angela was offered the role and turned it down due to other obligations. Halle swooped in and picked it up. So unfortunate.

Always been a fan of the weather witch Queen Ororo. Her origin/background is pretty underrated and unlike any other character
storm was heavily underused that isn't halle berry's fault given storms stature and importance in the xmen comics BUT I do belive there were better choices such as angela bassett or someone else
its just wrong when someone like mystique has more development then characters like Storm,Rogue,Kitty Pryde,Psylocke and others something is terribly wrong there

Storm was born in Harlem and raised in Africa by a mother from a line of powerful African priestess. She is supposed to represent the epitome of the African diaspora. They minimize her powers and whitewash her persona in the movie b/c in reality who needs Wolvie when you have Storm, Rogue and Jean Gray.
My blood boils when I think about what they did to Rogue she is the most powerful X-men with the most complex back story and they butchered that character too. I am very dubious about this Gal Gadol as Wonder Woman. Even Mystique is a portrayed as a toy for Xavier and Magneto to fight over to see who gets to control her when in the comics she is an indomitable transgender genius manipulator. There is just so much potential for these characters to represent so much more. *sigh* let me just stop here.

Despite contrasting origin stories - a princess vs. a priestess - her style of fighting 'Capoeria' is of Brazilian / South American origins; which is very much in tune with Storm's fighting style of choice, 'El Nino'. I really hate how storm's character is illustrated and used. She could easily be the number one hero of all time if she was better illustrated. Her power could also be considered one of the best powers out there, she's just so underrated and under used. I wish marvel or someone would actually try to make her, her own hero rather than sticking her to the x-men that in my opinion hold her back. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I think. Also her personality is could use some tweaking but is over all fun, exciting, and scary when she gets serious.

She needs more solo comics, a solo lead movie trilogy, villains of her own and more features, Marvel needs to stop pushing Carol as the main Marvel heroine and do It with Storm, the real Queen of Marvel and the wonder woman of Marvel comics.
Also worth noting, in the 90's Spider-man cartoon, when Spidey needed to call upon the world's greatest heroes to fight in the Secret Wars and had the choice to bring one of the X-Men, of which there are many with their own unique powers, he chose Storm.
I read/heard somewhere that the people in Storm's village thought she was a witch so they hated her. She wasn't actually a witch but because of the powers she gained from being a mutant, everyone thought she was.
I think you got that from Apoclaypse deleted scene, which was both racist (she said something like their dark religion made her own parents to hate her) and literally the opposite from the truth.
They thought she was a Goddess in canon, and worshipped her. We now have found out that she actually is one.
Storm needs her own movie she one of the most iconic x-men characters.

Halle Berry is a great actress but she doesn't have that natural leadership presence that Storm need, so her portrayal seemed weak. I don't blame her however, it has everything to do with Fox wanting a more passive version so Wolverine could be top dog (they made a bitch of Cyclops too and James Marsden is a great actor himself) Hopefully with DoFP she is portrayed muh more powerful and with a younger actress getting called for Apocalypse, maybe Lupita Nyongo

Agreed, Storm never had that impact like she did in the comics, and was quite frankly severely underused. And a huge agreement on Cyclops, they sodomized that character with a shovel in the films. Really disappointing.

She lived in a culture that had no real taboo against nudity, and her powers grant her immunity to heat and cold, in the environment anyway. (she can still be burned or frozen, but it takes extreme temperatures to do that)

The movies LOVE wolverine and Jean Grey but barely shows Storm when she was one of the most powerful Xmen next to Jean Grey and Prof X. The woman was literally worshiped as a god. Just saying. Wolverine at most would be seen as a demon by primitive people or maybe a demigod because of his healing power and agelessness. But he would never been seen as near the caliber of anything close to a god as Storm would be seen. That alone should give her some props, but no, the movies show her getting her ass whooped by much less powerful mutants over and over and over again. It's ridiculous.
She'll never get adequate development or show case her adept abilities in a movie though. For starters she doesn't have or will ever have COMPLETE CONTROL over her abilities secondly, her comic abilities and her true potential would be hard to conjunct on a live action movie screen.

I always loved Storm, but I never knew she had such a fucked up backstory as well. Most comic book characters have pretty effed backstories. Really makes you feel for the character.

I dont think its Halle Berrys falut, i think its the directors fault and the writters too. Halle is just playing her scenes! As long as they dont give her more line or fight powers scenes, Storm will always look lame in the movies no matter who is playing her.. =)
