What's the difference between Gandalf and Hodor? Gandalf died blocking a passage and was reborn as Gandalf the White. Hodor died blocking a passage and is probably going to come back as Hodor the Wight.
They were different in the sense that Gandulf's had purpose beyond protection. He was a game changer. Where as Hodor was merely a soldier, a good soldier no doubt but a soldier. Therefore a honored hero for duty in the name of the realm.
I’m actually pretty pissed about Summer’s death. Leaf destroyed a ton of wights and slowed them down with fire, Hodor held the door to let Bran get away, but Summer just needlessly charged into a swarm of wights to be taken out like a chump without making any real contribution. First Shaggydog is eliminated like it’s nothing, which sucks but can be forgiven since there’s a lack of a strong connection to him and it seems plausible that a savage beast like him could just be put down, but Summer absolutely deserved better (he’s a smarter wolf than that). The show’s always devalued the direwolves but this one really bothered me.
Garth Moriarty The show’s portrayal of the direwolves allows comments like this to exist. In the books the direwolves give warnings for everything bad that happens to the Starks (Bran’s fall, the Red Wedding, Jon’s death, etc). Rob’s allows the Northern army to win a devastating victory by finding a secret path to the Lannister army at Oxcross. Arya’s leads a massive wolf pack in the Riverlands. Jon’s discovers the cache of dragonglass. Then there’s the warging; the show has shown Bran warging, and he’s the best at it in the books, but Arya and Jon have both warged into their wolves. All this is just scratching the surface. I like both the show and the books for different reasons and I like some things on the show better, but the direwolves are soooo much cooler in the books and it’s a shame that didn’t translate, resulting in things like Summer’s throwaway death.
The show doesn't rly tend to elaborate on things. Summer's death was, unfortunately just a way to symbolize that summer was over and that winter had finally arrived. :(
I also think he's death was a way of trying to sever the ties between Bran and the Stark name, since Bran has now assumed the mantle of the three eyed raven.
soooooo after tonight's episode Sam said Summer JUST ended as him and his wife/gf/baby momma went to his home. He talked about watching the leaves change to beautiful colors at his home.....even with the Symbolism, the actual time frame of the seasons isn't Winter yet?
Varys and Petyr Baelish are easily my favorite characters on the show (since they "offed" STANNIS THE MANNIS T_T). Everyone is usually fans of Daenarys, Jon, or Tyrion (whom I also love, but seems underutilized in the show right now) but those characters bore me. Too bland. Varys and Petyr are behind the scenes and have will have a huge impact on events to come (hopefully). Conleth Hill and Aidan Gillen do not get enough credit for their roles.
I just watched the first few of these and his predictions have been scary accurate. So much so that I'm afraid to watch the rest! He might accidentally spoil future episodes lol.
The Doom of Valyria was over 400, not 200, years before the start of the books. 124 years before Aegon's Conquest and the books start at 298 years after the conquest.
+Alt Shift X apologies, you put in a lot of work for this videos for us to enjoy them and I really do appreciate that. I love your videos so much I couldn't even wait I was so damn irrational when I saw a notification, I was like fuck yes.
When Jaqen H'ghar said the line, "Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?" It never really hit me until the Hodor "Hold the door" scene in the program. Death apparently doesn't care who you are....
I said this on another persons video review but I think the only reason we saw leaf in the creation scene was for familiarity, to sort of establish a connection between the time periods. This happens often in cinema whereas you wouldn't need to do this in the books. She could very well be two hundred in the books but for ease of connection and familiarity, they made leaf principle in the scene.
Same in the Wolf of Wall Street book. Dan's character plays the role of numerous friends of Jordan Belfort. They keep him in it so they don't have to introduce a new character every five mins.
Hodor's life purpose was to hold the door. He got the premonition believe Bran was even born, and it profoundly changed. At least twice, Bran is the wind that knocks over a house of cards. The catalyst to war is Bran being pushed from the tower, and it's Bran that accidentally informs the white walkers to his location. It could be said that these incidents are Bran's fault, but it could also be said that both circumstances are so loosely held together than something would eventually cause them to topple over. Fate intended for this to happen or else Hodor would not have received the vision that would ultimately become his identity until he fulfilled it.
People are giving Bran a hard time for no reason, he is a 11-12 years old kid, if I had his powers when I was his age... I would probably destroy the entire human race in a matter of seconds...
I think if Raven would have told him the danger of him going alone in the matrix he would t have gone. But then again Hodor wouldn't have been Hodor if Brand didn't do what he did. So I guess like he said the past is already written.
the only thing thats his fault is going in the visiom when he shouldnt but hodor being hodor wouldve happened it was just very unfortunate this cyle was going to happen
About the past being written... Basically this means that the future is also written, right? I mean, Hodor was Hodor since he was a teenager, so from that moment, Bran was meant to travel back in time at some point and make it happen!
I know Bran messed up and set things in motion but I wouldn't say it's his fault. That was all supposed to happen, he had little control over it. It had already happened and it all led back to itself.
elphue s. Bran had to do that. Otherwise Hodor would have never became Hodor. It is likely Bloodraven knew something like that would happen, and that it would have to happen, however I don't believe he knew exactly when.
2022 n im still pissed. Prev to GOH it was True blood. Fool me once shame on u. Fool me twice. Shame in me. Fool me a 3rd time not happening. I stopped watching HBO since. Never investing investing myself in HBO. They do not respect us. Its about cash n thats fine. Just dont fk me like im not shit when u walk away w billions.
Thanks a ton for your hard work in explaining this episode. I love time travel in shows and movies but I was having trouble wrapping my head around exactly what Hodor's story was and how Bran's time trip changed him.
Just like Trump the first man needed a wall also to keep out those who want to change us for worst. Trump is like Lord Varys, we don't know shit about him beside the media, but doesn't look like somebody trustable, however, Hillary would be the Whore of Babylon in some other story but here she can only be Cersei Lannister.
and if you go back and watch she was in the process of healing someone with greyscale before Jorah talked to her. (with what seemed like tattoos of symbols on a persons back) I think its gonna happen
Not really healing him, but protecting him by painting his body. "This man must sail past old Valyria. All who travel too close to the doom must have protection." I suppose she might have knowledge about healing the greyscale as well.
Well think about it, we know now that the biggest danger from sailing near Old Valyria is clearly Stonemen since Jorah sailed right through it. It seems logical that her protection was some way of protecting oneself from Greyscale, its feasible that she would also possess a way to cure Greyscale.
Jesus Christ this was such a good video. i can't even fathom the amount of effort it takes to do one of these. good on you mate. you've earned a sub from me
“You won’t be here forever, you won’t be an old man in a tree” the three eyed raven said, which means he knew all of the causality effects made by Brans choices. He probably knew that he would receive the mark, and that they couldn’t stay (the raven didn’t seem surprised by the mark) - he didn’t warn Bran to dig deeper into the past of the white walkers purposely, or the events that would lead to Hodors death, because those events had to occur! In addition, if the mark alone was required to tear down the wall - why didn’t the night king just grab any ranger beyond the wall then let him go to traverse back to the other side. If it was that easy, he could have done it thousands of years ago.
Someone has theorized that most likely being a Stark has something to do with it. Maybe that explains Benjen's disappearance. He was probably mark'd but knew better than to head back to the wall. In fact a redditor has theorized that the White Walkers/Others have been zoning in on Starks, in the prologue of the first book the WW gang up on Waymar Royce expecting like a tougher fight and when they realized it isn't who they think it was (hinted at being Crastor letting them know) they mock him and kill him quickly.
That could explain why the Night King was focused on Jon during the battle at Hardholme. But I assumed that the only way he could mark Bran was through the vision but I guess he could mark them in the real world.
And I think whoever they mark has to be at least a warg, or even a greenseer so they could do it in the visions. Also seems it's having the Stark blood too.
the mark probably isn't that simple. It probably is 1) has more to do with greensight rather than just touching someone or 2) Might require Stark blood. Maybe Benjen was marked and that's one of the reasons he didn't come back, but there would have to be more reasons because why wouldn't he just tell a brother of the night's watch to meet him north of the wall. And to counter the argument that there usually is a Stark at the Wall, the WW's just reemerged so it makes sense that only Bran (and possibly Benjen) have been targeted.
Atanu Anupam u gotta know that i am german and its written wrong, but sounds right in german, you know? its related to the simpsons when bart made these prank calls on moe and in german its one of the names he then says out loud... you could translate it into english like: let me **** her cause she wants it or something like that :D this thing is older than me i guess...
If that happened, Benjen should've just hung around near the Wall and waited for a Night's watchmen to come look for him. And then explain what happened. I can't think of a reason why he would be hiding far beyond the Wall
I agree, but it raises the question of where he's been for six years. Each season of the show is supposed to be a full year or more, so Benjen has been doing something for six years if it really is him on that horse.
The thing that struck me most back when I first watched this episode as new as far as the Faceless Men... granted I'm going off only the show, not the books, but I'd gotten the impression when we were first introduced to Jacquen Hagar and the FM that there was a sort of nobility to them, a righteousness. They helped deliver true justice in a corrupt world, and Arya would be proud to train with him and become one herself. Except, now what feels like to me to be kinda disappointing, they don't seem to operate by some special, sacred code AT ALL. That they'll kill the Person B that Person A wants them to take out just because Person A's check cleared. They'll kill whomever you want so long you can pay.
Poor Hodor. The people of Winterfell are pretty cruel to call him Hodor and not Willas after his seizure in the courtyard. I wonder if he knew the whole time what his fate was?
I think they started calling him hodor because all he could say or think about was hodor, and the fact that he was traumatized about seeing his own death, i think he knew exactly what was going to happen but bran damaged his brain (probably the speech part) so he couldn't tell anyone or warn anyone so he just accepted his sacrifice to protect his lord
tbh with his mind all fucked up he probably responded most directly to somebody saying Hodor, triggering his memory. Probably worked a lot better than calling him Wylis.
I find way too many people not realizing what actually happened with Hodor. Not the whole time travel part but that Hodor didn't sacrifice himself to hold the door so Bran and Meera could be saved, but that Bran sacrificed Hodor for those reasons.
That' s not how I saw it. I think Hodor used Bran as a conduit. Hodor's eyes go first, and the way I saw it, Hodor wargs into _himself_ through Bran, cycling forever in his life as a quiet giant who will die and relive his life, all in order to save the one sweet boy who is his friend. So tl;dr - Hodor is currently immortal, forever cycling a horrible life of knowing exactly like he'll die, dying and then cycling back into his younger self the moment he does. The most interesting thing about this is that the time-travel in this universe is like the one in Harry Potter world - a continuous loop, so that if something did not happen, it cannot happen, because it has not happened.
Wait, what? Which Hodor warged into which? Hodor wasn't willing to move without Bran Warging him. He was literally just panicking in the corner stuck and confused. If he wanted to save his friend, why would he need to warg into himself? Why not just run and go help Bran?
What @Bazzyboss said. Hodor may be a giant and a lethal juggernaut while controlled by Bran, but he's a big mentally damaged wuss on his own, as sad as that is. He's afraid of thunder, he restrains himself from any kind of violence, even when his or his friends' lives are in danger (i.e. when they were captured at Craster's Keep), etc.
The way I saw it: Bran's mind was with Willis in the 'Past', while Present day Hodor was in panic. Then Bran essentially bridged Willis and Hodor's minds into one, warging through SPACE TIME and creating a PARADOX. Which for all intents and purposes restored Hodor's broken mind; Allowing him to remember both his life as Hodor (his friends and their quest) AND as Willis, up until hearing his prophetic name/command to ''Hold the Door''. Then, with his consciousness stuck in a paradox, the death of his physical self in the 'Present' sends a ripple effect through space time, which proves too much for young Willis's mind causing it to snap.
The Hodor scene really got me. It was really, well done. I agree that Bran isn't changing time... and I don't like the idea of him being an influence on the Mad King.. because that's part of their blood line. I also don't like the idea that Bran is behind everything in Westeros. That's just silly. It only had such an impact because he was around HODOR in the past and Present. There is no way to be around the Mad King in the present. Nice call on Little Fingers psychology. I also wasn't impressed with the actor of Eeron. He seems like an aged frat boy, not a sweet swaggering pirate. Oh well.
I heard of a really interesting story about the mad king. Hodor always repeated his phrase "hold the door" - what if the mad king did exactly the same with "burn them all"? Maybe the three eyed raven - a targaryen by himself - tried to help his family by telling them to burn the white walkers, which led Aerys to get mad because the raven did something wrong or underestimate his powers. So now he tried to get Bran to a point from which he can use his powers right - but he ended up, killing Hodor.
+maslab Or maybe that's the reason Arya can't know who's sending out the hits and why. Maybe it's some "Wanted" (the movie) type plot? where you think you're doing good but the person sending you out to kill is corrupt. I predict Arya won't accept being no one (as foreshadowed by her hiding her belongings like Needle behind) and will try to leave the Faceless men and will be hunted down by them.
i think GoT fans are so accustomed to every single group of people having personal gain plans and only out for themselves that its an odd concept that the faceless men don't take side and don't have a personal agenda and kill who they are paid to kill. So i don't think they even have an opinion of dany besides her having lineage to the very family that enslaved them
As much as I despise Little Finger, I must admit that I believe when he said he didn't know Ramsay was so cruel, I don't think anybody expected how crazy Ramsay turned out to be until it was too late, even his own father
"Knock, knock, the Walkers are here." Alt, you're the best. Your Hodor analysis made me a little teary eyed 😢 Looking forward to the next season 6 installment and I'm REALLY looking forward to that Faceless Men video that's supposedly on the way. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
You missed Brienne being sent to the Riverlands, something important because that puts her where she is in the books, near the brotherhood and Lady Stoneheart
This is just a theory, but if Hodor were to die while under Brans' possession would Bran also die? Could he have implanted the instinct to ''hold the door'' into young Willis in order to save himself in that moment?
+Birdeye11 the video says that Bran was simultaneously influencing the young and old Hodor. so yes at that time old Hodor was directly being controlled by Bran. remember Bran was already in the matrix and Hodor was sitting idle. .only when Meera started pushing Bran to warg into Hodor did Hodor became active
+Birdeye11 no he wouldn't die if Hodor died. Varamyr Sixskins was burned alive while wearing his birds skin. He felt everything and went a little batshit for a while but he wasn't dead.
I think bran and blood Raven are the same person. The older wiser one is just trying to teach the young not to make the same mistakes he did. But it seems bran is making he same mistakes over again. Which is why they are stuck in a loop until one version of bran finally rights all the wrongs he made in the past and finally be on path again. Also bran is the one who caused the mad King to go mad and telling him to burn all the walkers, however Jamie heard it wrong and he thought he meant burn all the humans. That's why Jamie had to kill him.
You're close on TV Bran and Bloodraven but the book clearly states that Bloodraven is a Targ bastard and former Nights Watchman. I do think on TV that Bran is present Bran getting thought by future/past Bran who got stuck in the past and was forced to live through the ages to re-teach himself. This is possible because the show says Bloodraven is 1000 years old so he's defiantly not the same as Mr. Rivers' Bloodraven from the books.
Ashley Taylor TV blood raven is different. They clearly mention that he is 1000 years old which I believe states that it he is different from book blood raven...TV show is at the point of changes things quite a bit.
The show said he has seen a thousand years of history, not necessarily means he's a thousand years old. When you have a power like greensight and can't do much in the Land of Always Winter, why not go back and watch history unfold beneath you? While it would be nice for Bloodraven to be a future Bran, it doesn't make sense when you compare a young Bran timeline. It simply doesn't work, he's still Brynden Rivers on the show.
The three eyed crow, however, someone pointed out could be Bran though, as in his dreams Jojen says you can't kill the crow because he's you. But bloodraven is not the same thing as the crow probably.
Littlefinger didn't have a good reason as to why he gave Sansa away because the show writers themselves don't have a good reason. It was such a fucking shit idea that the show writers think by pointing it out themselves we can forgive them or forgot that it was their decision to deviate from the books and to give us that pointless character arch that made no character progression at all?...i don't think so
Littlefinger met Cersei, told her that Ramsay wed Sansa Stark, so the Boltons betrayed their King. They made a deal: Littlefinger will march north with the army of the Vale and if he conquers Winterfell, he will be the Warden of the North. I guess that was the point of gaving Sansa away. Or something like that.
It wouldn't have happened if it was up to Roose though, he knew how important Sansa was. So Littlefinger misjudged the Boltons by thinking Roose had control over Ramsay. It doesn't seem that weird.
ultru well it makes more sense staying in the vale which they have complete control over, and the vale has one of the largest armies remaining in westeros since they took no part in the war of the 5 kings
Thank you for making these videos and although I can't help out more than liking and subscribing right now I need to express my immense gratitude towards these clearly thought out videos and I suppose everyone can tell how much hard work and research goes into these and made so easy for people to understand for even those who haven't read the books(including me). Thank you good Sir.
Lol about the White Walkers standing around trying to look tough while beefing! I swear, every episode is a damn set up for a Straight Outta Lands of Always Winter rap battle for Westeros lmao this: "Fuck y'all First Men comin straight from the underground An old Walka got it bad cause I'm on you like a preposition on a pronoun Just cuz I'm an Other the Night's Watch think they have the authority to kill a minority Fuck that shit, cause I ain't the one for punk red priests, Zombie Snow n Wun-Wun to be beating on Shoulda finished y'all clowns at the Battle for the Dawn.." Sincerely, ICE Cube aka Night's King W.W.A. You're welcome HBO Also if the Night's King's name isn't already Ice Cube it damn should be 😂
U are beyond great! I have never read any of the books and so im only aware what happens in the series. But with your explanantion those episodes and book reffers just get so much clearer. I cant thank you enough!
When Bloodraven said "The past is written. The ink is dry." I think he was lying the Bran to protect him from doing something he shouldn't. I think he can alter the past some how. Remember in the Tower of Joy scene when Bran yelled out to his father and his father heard him and turned around? That must mean something.
Dude I waited all week and I'm ecstatic about this video. I wanted to ask if u think bran has already affected every event to ever happen in that time loop, so he's the raven guiding himself to eventually become what he needs to be? Idk crazy theory but love you're videos and hope you keep up the good work, take care!
I like this theory. Another Theory involving Bran that I saw was that the series ends in a cataclysmic battle between the dragons and walkers in which the world is destroyed. To save the world Bran transports his consciousness into Bran the builder and thats how the series ends. This means the whole series is one time loop. And thus the ink is dry. I doubt that will be how it ends but it was interesting.
your intelect on predicting what is going to happen next is amazing, not only in this episode , i congratulate you with all the might of my heart, keep up the amazing work my brother
he has been told of his power for a very long time but yet he still carelessly used it with absolutely no idea what he was doing so yes it is his fault.
its not his fault though, if anything its the bloodravens fault. bloodraven knew exactly what was going to happen and just let it happen, hence the "its time, leave me" or whatever he said in the past right before he died, he knew he was about to die then yet wasnt actually seeing it in the present, meaning he knew it was going to happen but really. its nobodys fault...its the way it was destined to happen it was all pre-determined before bran was even born...so yeah, not his fault but the show deff makes it seem like brans fault
Sansa is NOT surprised by Littlefinger calling Jon her half brother. She knows why his name is Jon Snow. She 's found out by nowthat she's safer trusting half a Stark than a little finger.
I've said this about everywhere now. Shouldn't the very first lesson Bran had from Bloodraven have gone something like "hey, if you happen to run into some blue dude, don't let that prick touch you because we will all be fucked if he does." It makes no sense. --Summer and Hodor being killed just reaffirms that Bran is running parallel of The Last Hero. I am sick of people bitching about CG budgets. It's because of direction, not budgets. It also means that Meera's future is not looking too bright. --One more complaint. Why does Brienne still have part of House Starks sword? She should have given that steel back. I don't give a fuck who gave it to her, it's not hers to keep. Plus, if Jon gave House Mormont their sword back, I would bet they would be pretty excited to join the cause. Jon take Oathkeeper, renames it Icicle or something else stupid and BAM! things start to head in the right direction. What the fuck is she doing! She should rename the sword finders keepers.
Lol *finders keepers * . Technically her sword does belong to the Starks still. It's sworn to Sansa. So close enough? Also the Hilt probably is all "Lanister like" in design. Not that any of that really matters. Also I agree with your sentiments on Bran's lessons. Like wth! Unless it was foreseen and he was like I guess it's just my time....but dude you didn't have to let everyone else go down with you Blood Raven.

I was frustrated by the bloodraven's lack of real lessons too but the Bloodraven probably wanted it to happen because the timeline loop wouldnt be closed.
He probably realized long ago that you can't change or stop fate. It was meant to happen so it will happen no matter what. He just didn't know exactly when it would which is why he was caught off guard.
Have you even watched this season? The Bloodraven couldn't tell Bran about the Nights King because everything was leading to the exact point. The Nights King HAD to touch Bran. It's like destiny. It had to happen so that Willis could become Hodor and he would hold the door. It's an infinite loop. If the Bloodraven told Bran about the Nights King then there would be like some time paradox shit going on.
theory.... hodor warged into his future self. thats why it was only after young hodor's eyes went like brans and the three eyed ravens then future hodor started to cry and you could hear his audible struggling at first then young hodor he accepted what he was doing and got focused and determined. which is why young hodor fades off at the end of the episode it shows future hodors life leaving him leaving him brain dead
"Though they didn't make the walkers pay for the wall." ahhhh man, I have to hand it to you, that has to be the funniest thing I've heard in awhile, subtly place amongst your analysis. Keep it up! Love your channel :)
If Coldhands comes back I may be able to forgive them for a lot of crap, I mean I won't be able to forgive them for Dorne or for Damphair being all like, "Oh you killed Balon and are a kin/kingslayer? Oh well we are totally cool bro." But I could at least forgive them for "Bad Pussy."
This isn't the same Damphair from the books. Hell, I doubt he's even Balon's brother on the show. This is just some important Drowned Priest who just shares the name "Aeron". There's no need to think of him as the same character. Aside from that, it's not the same character. Also, the kinslaying taboo has never been established in show!canon. So this isn't a mistake on their part. And it's pretty much an open secret in the books that Euron killed Balon. Really, all the show is doing is cutting through the bullshit.
Dorne will never be forgiven, that's a shitty senseless plot an as the first major "original" content for the show, it made me afraid of this season, but so far so god!
I say he should be left a book-only character. I don't want to see him talking about his cock. (Which is, naturally, swollen up and as black as pudding...)
If the wall is magically protected like bloodravens cave was, how were the two wights who rose in castle black back in season 1 able to be reanimated? They were past the ward.
no my friend.they were beyond the wall and then they were found and brought to the castle black. how the hell did they reanimate themselves when there were no walkers around?
i would have thought the walkers could just use some good ol' walker strength and thrown some corpses into the cave then, and rezzed them when they were inside
You know what I was thinking? They should have gone all out with the character. He should have been balls-to-the-wall-go-hard-or-go-home crazy. He would show up, high on Nightshade, a man challenges him on his claim, he slits his throat and laughs. Then he brings out the dragonbinder horn and screams that he is going to literally conquer the world on dragonback, like a supervillain. The scene was underwhelming, but not because of the actor. Your profile pic reminded me that I was expecting a character akin to a pirate Joker who dabbles in blood magic. Could have been really awesome.
I have nothing against the actor, but the script didn't help him at all! He doesn't even looks like Euron! I mean, what was the problem of putting him and eyepatch? I was afraid they ruined Crow's Eye, and now they have literally raped his character.
Gave a like just for "Jorah the Explorer"
And that they didn't make the walkers pay for the wall
DSoloha I was about to comment the same thing 😂😂
I don’t get it.
@@elenaruth9682 refers to Dorah the explorer, a cartoon character for children.
That's the same reason I came to the comments. Lmfao
What's the difference between Gandalf and Hodor?
Gandalf died blocking a passage and was reborn as Gandalf the White. Hodor died blocking a passage and is probably going to come back as Hodor the Wight.
Cleaver
Mind blow and oof
That's cold dude 😂
I see no difference
Agreed, the Show doesnt really care about the Direwolves... I mean half of the Direwolfes were cut down and then never mentioned again.
It's a fucking Direwolf, all they do is bite things. What a loss! -_-
Garth Moriarty The show’s portrayal of the direwolves allows comments like this to exist.
You didn't talk about the symbolism when Summer and Leaf(Autumn) died. Now Winter is finally here
oh wow...
dude...
BAM!
Leaf stopped the ones she killed..... ;)
soooooo after tonight's episode Sam said Summer JUST ended as him and his wife/gf/baby momma went to his home. He talked about watching the leaves change to beautiful colors at his home.....even with the Symbolism, the actual time frame of the seasons isn't Winter yet?
Conleth Hill (Varys) did an absolutely brilliant job in the meereen scene
He did
Most underrated actor on the show.
Yeah, when he talks down on religion, he really got balls
Varys and Petyr Baelish are easily my favorite characters on the show (since they "offed" STANNIS THE MANNIS T_T). Everyone is usually fans of Daenarys, Jon, or Tyrion (whom I also love, but seems underutilized in the show right now) but those characters bore me. Too bland.
Varys and Petyr are behind the scenes and have will have a huge impact on events to come (hopefully).
Conleth Hill and Aidan Gillen do not get enough credit for their roles.
And all other scenes he did on the show because he's awesome.
Been checking subbox for days for this.
And here I thought I was the only one, glad I'm just as addicted to these as everyone else- No rush AltshiftX but we are a hungry audience.
If you become a patron, you don't need to do that. ;) He emails us updates on these videos! ;D
You're not alone. I started checking 5 mins after the show aired lol!
These videos are my favorite for GOT reviews... I've been constantly checking too
been checking for this since Monday-Tuesday, almost every two hours, OMG, this is what I look for after GOT
I have been waiting for this since I finished watching the episodes. Your reviews aren't just great, you have a very soothing voice
You realize how creepy you sound?
+Stefan Stevanovic I mean, its true. his voice is soothing.
Fuck the haters, OP. AltShiftX voice is soothing af...
10/10 would listen again.
Lol exactly my thoughts... I could hear his voice all there, i wanna see how he looks in rl :D
Damn you killed that Benjen prediction
I just watched the first few of these and his predictions have been scary accurate. So much so that I'm afraid to watch the rest! He might accidentally spoil future episodes lol.
mikecantreed 90000 people predicted this
The same with Arya. lol this guy is accurate!!
@ Well the hinting in the trailer about Arya killing the waif was pretty obvious.
The Doom of Valyria was over 400, not 200, years before the start of the books. 124 years before Aegon's Conquest and the books start at 298 years after the conquest.
+Loathomar True, my bad!
+Alt Shift X you took forever! i was waiting forever
@alt shift x is not your bitch :)
+Daniel Johnson but im a huge fan and this episode was a freakin big one
+Alt Shift X apologies, you put in a lot of work for this videos for us to enjoy them and I really do appreciate that. I love your videos so much I couldn't even wait I was so damn irrational when I saw a notification, I was like fuck yes.
Who else was waiting all day for this?
Me
me too
All week :/
I've been waiting for this for several days.
yep, its 3am in the UK XD
7:10 "but is it really that simple?"... 2019: Yes
When Jaqen H'ghar said the line, "Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?" It never really hit me until the Hodor "Hold the door" scene in the program.
Death apparently doesn't care who you are....
"jorah the explorer" did anyone catch that? lol
Old joke back when he was looking for danny
Go on google images "jorah the explorer" you can find pics from a few years ago of him with a modified Dora the Explorer logo
Yes, absolutely brilliant turn of phrase. Many a chuckle ensued.
Got it from Ozzy reviews
nah he didnt, it's been a joke for years, even from the books
Hold the door .. I admit .. I cried like a little bitch ..
Me too man... Me too.
me too !
I bawled so hard
I dare everyone who watched this: Now go back and watch Alt Shift X´s Aprils Fool Video.
+ReichspepesKonzentrationsLager Meddl
Jorah the explorer made me fucking die holy shit
Me too hahaha
"This is so tragic and fucked up in so many levels" sums up Hodor's story perfectly.
I can see that. Plus, it takes full advantage of the 9 hour makeup job.
no they dont, just look at the ones in the background
Same in the Wolf of Wall Street book. Dan's character plays the role of numerous friends of Jordan Belfort. They keep him in it so they don't have to introduce a new character every five mins.
pretty sure that's racist pal.
Also just less work than hiring ANOTHER actress and making the costume fit her
The little humor and references you insert in your videos are absolutely perfect.
Best GoT channel by far. No need for any others.
there's also a very good german one but I agree :)
yep , i was just thinking the same thing. By far the best presentation and link up with the books.
Name of the german channel, pls?
Preston Jacobs channel is solid too.
More focused on the books, but the dude makes great videos and brings up a lot of good points and theories.
>not frikidoctor
Hodor's life purpose was to hold the door. He got the premonition believe Bran was even born, and it profoundly changed. At least twice, Bran is the wind that knocks over a house of cards. The catalyst to war is Bran being pushed from the tower, and it's Bran that accidentally informs the white walkers to his location. It could be said that these incidents are Bran's fault, but it could also be said that both circumstances are so loosely held together than something would eventually cause them to topple over. Fate intended for this to happen or else Hodor would not have received the vision that would ultimately become his identity until he fulfilled it.
Reminds me of pippin in LOTR
👏👏👏
People are giving Bran a hard time for no reason, he is a 11-12 years old kid, if I had his powers when I was his age... I would probably destroy the entire human race in a matter of seconds...
+Ramblings of Mad Man in the book he's younger.
I think if Raven would have told him the danger of him going alone in the matrix he would t have gone. But then again Hodor wouldn't have been Hodor if Brand didn't do what he did. So I guess like he said the past is already written.
Robb died 16 years old at the end of season 3 and Bran was about half his age. I think 8 years at the start.
the only thing thats his fault is going in the visiom when he shouldnt but hodor being hodor wouldve happened it was just very unfortunate this cyle was going to happen
Ramblings of Mad Man I really have to explain to you that his actor aged but not the character?
You were right about Benjen
He kind of called this in videos like last year.
Yas
About the past being written... Basically this means that the future is also written, right?
I mean, Hodor was Hodor since he was a teenager, so from that moment, Bran was meant to travel back in time at some point and make it happen!
Thats why blood raven took him there
Red wedding, Hold the Door, Hardhome. Epic Episodes.
Battle of the Blackwater
Battle on the wall
S04- E06 " The Laws of Gods and Men " : The very best episode by far.
The Lion and the Rose.. ?
The Wolf and The Lion is great too
I know Bran messed up and set things in motion but I wouldn't say it's his fault. That was all supposed to happen, he had little control over it. It had already happened and it all led back to itself.
Yeah, maybe because BloodRaven also knows the future.. That's why he's f*kin taught him nothing at all..
elphue s. Bran had to do that. Otherwise Hodor would have never became Hodor. It is likely Bloodraven knew something like that would happen, and that it would have to happen, however I don't believe he knew exactly when.
I laughed way too much at Jorah the Explorer joke at 10:44
or the joke with Trump and the wall
I heard it from ozzy man review, I hope it stick ^^
that frickin great!
Could you explain the joke lol
+utvctang It's a pun on the kids cartoon series named "Dora the Explorer".
Re-watching this in 2021 just makes it quite painful to think that all those amazing speculations and possibilities just went nowhere.
11 months later but yes, i agree
2022 n im still pissed. Prev to GOH it was True blood. Fool me once shame on u. Fool me twice. Shame in me. Fool me a 3rd time not happening. I stopped watching HBO since. Never investing investing myself in HBO. They do not respect us. Its about cash n thats fine. Just dont fk me like im not shit when u walk away w billions.
yes ...
"Bran's gonna have a lot of guilt to deal with" lol.
@@matsh5633 but what if Bran was in the Hodor body holding that door
Thanks a ton for your hard work in explaining this episode. I love time travel in shows and movies but I was having trouble wrapping my head around exactly what Hodor's story was and how Bran's time trip changed him.
"They didn't make the walkers pay for the wall". I love you for slipping in that Trump joke
Could you explain that? I'm not familiar with Trump's statements.
Trump wants to make the mexicans pay for the wall i think
Sarcasm, right? In any case.. He said he would build a wall across the border and make Mexico pay for it
Andrés Smith Oh yeah, I've read something about that a few days ago. Thanks :)
Maybe the walkers built that wall to keep the wildlings away, and when they saw that to many were on their side of the wall they decided to attack
I was watching this video seriously and than Donald Trump pops up at 5:25 and I lost my shit.
yes every wall is related to that man nowadays....
and the part where he explains Yara. "Make Iron Island great again"
+Jon Snow You know nothing, Jon Snow
Dr J Reefer That is correct.
Jorrah should go back to Qarth to see Quaithe. She was such an interesting character and she could probably help him with the greyscale.
and if you go back and watch she was in the process of healing someone with greyscale before Jorah talked to her. (with what seemed like tattoos of symbols on a persons back) I think its gonna happen
Not really healing him, but protecting him by painting his body.
"This man must sail past old Valyria. All who travel too close to the doom must have protection."
I suppose she might have knowledge about healing the greyscale as well.
Theon got himself a new dick tho .
no matter he get the cure or not, finally .... he said that he love dany.
Well think about it, we know now that the biggest danger from sailing near Old Valyria is clearly Stonemen since Jorah sailed right through it. It seems logical that her protection was some way of protecting oneself from Greyscale, its feasible that she would also possess a way to cure Greyscale.
Jesus Christ this was such a good video. i can't even fathom the amount of effort it takes to do one of these. good on you mate. you've earned a sub from me
“You won’t be here forever, you won’t be an old man in a tree” the three eyed raven said, which means he knew all of the
causality effects made by Brans choices.
I read that as ranga. lol
And to counter the argument that there usually is a Stark at the Wall, the WW's just reemerged so it makes sense that only Bran (and possibly Benjen) have been targeted.
you can't imagine how much i was waiting for this video! love it!
I gotta say, that's a friggin awesome name if that's actually your real name
Atanu Anupam
it is not, do you even know what it's supposed to mean? :D
Nope, no idea! I googled it with no results even.
Atanu Anupam
u gotta know that i am german and its written wrong, but sounds right in german, you know?
its related to the simpsons when bart made these prank calls on moe and in german its one of the names he then says out loud... you could translate it into english like: let me **** her cause she wants it or something like that :D
this thing is older than me i guess...
Ach so! Ja ich spreche Deutsch ^^ lass mir ran da denn sie will ja. Jetzt verstehe ich haha
Benjen never returned to the Watch because he's marked
Yooo I don't know if you came up with that yourself or saw it on a forum but that shit makes a ton of sense. I like that a lot.
Uh can you explain? What does being marked mean? As in... like how Bran was marked this episode?
Yeah I think that's what he means. If he returns to the wall, the wall may come crashing down and everyone else will die as a result.
+Lawlliets _ Yes he thinks he was marked like bran was it would explain why benjen vanished
If that happened, Benjen should've just hung around near the Wall and waited for a Night's watchmen to come look for him. And then explain what happened. I can't think of a reason why he would be hiding far beyond the Wall
'Jorah the Explorer' LOL :D
jorah is too sweet
I think Benjen is out there, and he will totally rescue Bran and Meera
I agree, but it raises the question of where he's been for six years. Each season of the show is supposed to be a full year or more, so Benjen has been doing something for six years if it really is him on that horse.
Bran pulled him into the future through warging.
+John McLellan I think they will make him cold hands
+John McLellan The timeline is only 2 years after the beginning of the series.
Benjen is cast for episode 6 on IMDB, so im pretty sure he will be there next episode :)
The original white walker looks like first spear centurion Lucius Vorenus. No wonder he's such a badass.
Who would be a Pullo then ?
"Thirteen!"
KenFan4life Salve citizen
Rome...the series that began it all (at least in my mind lol)
luckystriker Rome was perfection , watched it several times .
"Jorah the explorer". I can't believe I didn't think of it.
Cuz Ozzy Man, another game of thrones content reviewer came up with it years ago.
Maybe, but he said it because Jorah is now on a mission exploring idk
eh, it's been out there for years on reddit's /r/asoiaf, probably the place where this channel gets most of its insights
crazy
SPOILER: It is still possibile that Jorah is Azor Ahai. I hope it's Jon but that would be so obvious.
And in the book, you have to pay a great price, they are not someone a two bit actor could hire on a whim
Been waiting all yesterday for this, thank you so much.
I think it's time to start donating.....
+arjl880 at least a dollar.
Any episode without Dorne is a great episode.
and without Sam and Gilly......and Cersei.......and Kings Landing .
+magnvsmarcvs lol no Cersei has one of the best story lines this season
+Tywin Lannister you say that cuz she's your daughter :p
+Gabriela Rodriguez it would be THE best story line if I weren't killed by that little shit dwarf
Tywin Lannister
A man is dead , a man shouldn't speak
These videos are amazingly detailed and interesting, so much more informative, and downright impressive than any other GOT TH-camr.
Wow that prediction of Benjen and Coldhands was spot on, way to go Alt Shift X!!!!
Poor Hodor. The people of Winterfell are pretty cruel to call him Hodor and not Willas after his seizure in the courtyard. I wonder if he knew the whole time what his fate was?
Yea watching that episode made me reevaluate my whole perception of "Hodor"
I think they started calling him hodor because all he could say or think about was hodor, and the fact that he was traumatized about seeing his own death, i think he knew exactly what was going to happen but bran damaged his brain (probably the speech part) so he couldn't tell anyone or warn anyone so he just accepted his sacrifice to protect his lord
tbh with his mind all fucked up he probably responded most directly to somebody saying Hodor, triggering his memory. Probably worked a lot better than calling him Wylis.
I don't think it's cruel to call Walder Hodor, Hodor is complelty different to Walder apart from having the same body.
+Qarnatics Cuhz I have to disagree. It's pretty clear that he understands language perfectly well. It is simply nothing more but a cruel joke.
This is the way all time travel should be depicted. Every point of view along the timeline should have equal merit.
Then, with his consciousness stuck in a paradox, the death of his physical self in the 'Present' sends a ripple effect through space time, which proves too much for young Willis's mind causing it to snap.
my guy was spot on with that cold hands/Benjen stark prediction
hes gotten several right. Like for example Hodor, he called it on explanation of episode 4.
Thank you for ruining the season for me
The Hodor scene really got me. Oh well.
FINALLYYYY its 4am in germany
well good morning from Croatia , I think we should both go to sleep now .
+magnvsmarcvs it's 1pm Australia
Ph Ph
good day to you......now go back to work :)
11 am in Philippines
Korbs
good day to you too , now back to the sweatshop
"That's racist" haha cracked me up.
There are a lot of what i call 'Hey whats up guys' reviews but Sir you are pure quality and a source to be drawn from
I don't see why the faceless men would be against the woman who dedicates herself to freeing slaves though...
I also don't think they'd really have beef with her. If they truly are "no one", then they can't really have a grudge.
***** pretty sure death doesn't hold grudges either tho
i think GoT fans are so accustomed to every single group of people having personal gain plans and only out for themselves that its an odd concept that the faceless men don't take side and don't have a personal agenda and kill who they are paid to kill. So i don't think they even have an opinion of dany besides her having lineage to the very family that enslaved them
There is a theory about the faceless men working for The Great Other. That could be a reason why, check it out.
As much as I despise Little Finger, I must admit that I believe when he said he didn't know Ramsay was so cruel, I don't think anybody expected how crazy Ramsay turned out to be until it was too late, even his own father
16:30 "Bran is going to have a lot of guilt to deal with".
Bran the tree: No, I don't think I will.
I lost it at Jorah the Explorer
Jorah the Explorer escapes the Friendzone
I finally got my baby to go down to sleep and then I'm notified that you have uploaded a new vid. Can you say, "Awesome" because I did... =)
Ha! Me too!
+roxygurl202 ha! darn babies... don't they know we have analyses to listen to?! =P
Abortion exists for a reason.
+Mementic Shame your mother didn't know that.
+jontheguy hahaha you're so rude
The fact Abed is in this video and you mention the darkest timeline now means this is the greatest channel for GOT videos on the Internet.
"hold the Door" most epic shit ever
"Knock, knock, the Walkers are here." Alt, you're the best. Your Hodor analysis made me a little teary eyed 😢
Looking forward to the next season 6 installment and I'm REALLY looking forward to that Faceless Men video that's supposedly on the way. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
You missed Brienne being sent to the Riverlands, something important because that puts her where she is in the books, near the brotherhood and Lady Stoneheart
One of the few series on youtube that I will upvote blindly before even watching the video. Excellent episode, that Trump joke was gold.
the first requirement for becoming a red priestess is that you need to be hot as fuck!!
Quite the opposite actully when you can use illusion magic :).
But I still want a temple with whoring priestesses.
***** you didnt notice her eyes .....................................and her rack??
Yeah they are actually ugly as fuck. Not the illusion form they take though.
I go to walmart
I go to walmart
wally wally wally wally walmart
By far the best of all of the GoT episode explanations out there on TH-cam. I really look forward to these so keep up the good work.
we are missing one point here...it wasn't Hodor but Bran (by waring into Hodor's mind) who was holding the door.
Hodor got killed under Bran's control
*warging
The actor confirmed that it was Hodor that sacrificed himself for Bran and Meera, not Bran controlling him
I think bran and blood Raven are the same person.
Blood Raven is a Targaryen bastard so he can't be Bran
It was such a fucking shit idea that the show writers think by pointing it out themselves we can forgive them or forgot that it was their decision to deviate from the books and to give us that pointless character arch that made no character progression at all?...i don't think so
It's getting "too Hollywoody" isn't it?
it was fucking shit. I didnt regognise Littlefinger anymore...
The production quality on this video is insanely high. Gratz.
This is pretty much necessary watching if you're watching the Game Of Thrones
Lol about the White Walkers standing around trying to look tough while beefing! I swear, every episode is a damn set up for a Straight Outta Lands of Always Winter rap battle for Westeros lmao this:
"Fuck y'all First Men comin straight from the underground
An old Walka got it bad cause I'm on you like a preposition on a pronoun
Just cuz I'm an Other the Night's Watch think they have the authority to kill a minority
Fuck that shit, cause I ain't the one
for punk red priests, Zombie Snow n Wun-Wun
to be beating on
Shoulda finished y'all clowns at the Battle for the Dawn.."
Sincerely,
ICE Cube aka Night's King W.W.A.
You're welcome HBO
Also if the Night's King's name isn't already Ice Cube it damn should be 😂
You deserve awards....all of them lol.
+MrWicked187 Why thank you. In true gangsta rapper fashion, I'd like to inexplicably thank Jesus for this award.
dont....just dont
Perfect... Simply Perfect
+Alexander Lid Go back to your basement you weeaboo.
This review kept popping up in my suggested videos, and it made me start watching the show again. Thank you.
Summer is dead and winter has come
"What am I chopped liver"? says Fall....
when he is totally right about benjen... :O
These videos are so good, keep it up!!
U are beyond great! I have never read any of the books and so im only aware what happens in the series. But with your explanantion those episodes and book reffers just get so much clearer. I cant thank you enough!
Fucking excellent video - these videos add a lot of value to the episodes, maybe HBO should pay you a royalty for this work.
When Bloodraven said "The past is written. The ink is dry." I think he was lying the Bran to protect him from doing something he shouldn't. I think he can alter the past some how. Remember in the Tower of Joy scene when Bran yelled out to his father and his father heard him and turned around? That must mean something.
All down the drain 😂
Dude I waited all week and I'm ecstatic about this video. I wanted to ask if u think bran has already affected every event to ever happen in that time loop, so he's the raven guiding himself to eventually become what he needs to be? Idk crazy theory but love you're videos and hope you keep up the good work, take care!
uh its more likely it was just bloodRAVEN who was the ravens. however people are predicting that bran will make the mad king go mad.
+Lance Loeser That's exactly what I was trying to get at m8. love that theory and there's a lot of evidence after last episode . exciting stuff
+Lance Loeser exactly. the end of game of thrones is just the beginning again. one loop. it's a mind fuck
+Lance Loeser could be cool, but if that is true the series will still end with whatever it ends with. so I would rather it not be cataclysmic.
your intelect on predicting what is going to happen next is amazing, not only in this episode , i congratulate you with all the might of my heart, keep up the amazing work my brother
Can we all appreciate and have a sigh of relief that we haven't seen anything from Dorne since the first episode?!
I'm sick of everybody blaming Brann. How do you expect a kid to have full control over what is arguably the most powerful magic in this series?!
Just need someone to blame since we all loved hodor ☹️
he has been told of his power for a very long time but yet he still carelessly used it with absolutely no idea what he was doing so yes it is his fault.
its not his fault though, if anything its the bloodravens fault.
bloodraven knew exactly what was going to happen and just let it happen, hence the "its time, leave me" or whatever he said in the past right before he died, he knew he was about to die then yet wasnt actually seeing it in the present, meaning he knew it was going to happen
but really. its nobodys fault...its the way it was destined to happen
it was all pre-determined before bran was even born...so yeah, not his fault but the show deff makes it seem like brans fault
Mole's Town has the brothel where the men of the Night's Watch "come" 0:55 I see what you did there
I just now got around to watching this and this guys prediction of the Benjen cold hands was dead on. Well done

You deserve a medal kind sir. Amazing work.
hey no rush, just wondering.... when should I be looking out for your ep. 6 review? can't wait :)
LOVE all of your vids btw. u put a lot of work in.

Whats "Bad Pussy"?
*poosi
I say he should be left a book-only character. I don't want to see him talking about his cock. (Which is, naturally, swollen up and as black as pudding...)
"Jora the explorer" LMAOOOOOOO
If the wall is magically protected like bloodravens cave was, how were the two wights who rose in castle black back in season 1 able to be reanimated? They were past the ward.
very good question
because they reanimated past the wall, they didnt cross it, they were already past it
no my friend.they were beyond the wall and then they were found and brought to the castle black.
how the hell did they reanimate themselves when there were no walkers around?
+johnny blaze Maybe because humans brought them to the other side. They can't go through the wall by their own force.
i would have thought the walkers could just use some good ol' walker strength and thrown some corpses into the cave then, and rezzed them when they were inside
"It's only gonna get more intense". Oh sweet, sweet man, how we held our hopes back in the past
who else was disappointed by the euron greyjoy actor
Not the actor, but the script.
It's really the script. The only thing I disliked in this season - Where are my niece and nephew? Let's go murder them - criiiiiinge.
They really should have followed the books description before casting euron
5:25 one of the theory goes that they had help building the wall from the white walkers, so I guess they did make them pay for it XD
over 48 hours of F5 finally paid off
The only game of thrones after show review worth watching! Thanks for the effort
