The first two arrows hit Rhaegal in the heart. Then the next one hits the neck. And the dragon falls. But then we see like 30 arrows miss Drogon. It makes no sense.
To be fair, season 8 could have been a lot worse. I think the story isn’t too bad but it was just rushed to no end

Yeah...they weren't so subtle this time. It's pretty easy to hear the disappointment in his tone throughout almost the whole thing as well.
I was expecting him to tear these last few episodes apart in his streams, but when I watched them I was slightly surprised at how much he defended the episodes from some of the fans' harsher criticisms. It's refreshing to see someone who isn't nearly as angry about the way Game of Thrones has devolved, but is far more even handed.

Why does Jon keep saying he's was "Never a Stark". His mother was literally Lyanna STARK and he was raised in Winterfell with the Starks.
By blood, he's more Stark than Catelyn Stark and just as much Stark blood as his cousins Robb, Bran, Arya, Sansa, and Rickon.

Michael Mansouri I wish they had 2 more seasons. They desperately needed more filming time and more episodes
and it makes literally no sense to me why Ghost can't just stay in Winterfell. I totally get the impulse to not want to take him to Dragonstone or Kings Landing, direwolves aren't southern animals, but at least 2 Starks will still be living in Winterfell for the time being, I see no reason he couldn't stay with them (especially when since pretty much every other one has been killed by now)

While I agree that the show runners are accountable for a lot of the errors we are seeing by refusing to have more seasons; which were offered. We have to take into consideration the cast as well, maybe they were tired of their roles and/or had other projects up coming which forced their hand.
And screw those Ice Spiders everyone wants to see.. We'll keep Ghost season 1 small. Who cares Grey Wind was as big as a horse season 2 or Nymeria was Huge season 7🤣

Thats what I said when I first saw the episode. If she landed on Cersei, she would have survived the fall to boot. Albiet with some broken bones lol but then, Euron would have seized the throne and ordered the soldiers to fire on Drogon, who was not too far in the background. They would have sniped him easily, even if he tried to fly away. Then Dany and co would have been easy targets.
I enjoy the "explained" videos more than the actual season 8 episodes.
The writing has gotten so bad on these episodes that the explained videos are neccessary viewing.

@Chris A. Medina lets be real, this show was doomed as soon as we found out that GRRM was no where near releasing his book. It was just a matter of when. This last season proved it.
Fans are in denial because this show was so great...which is because of GRRM. And relying on D&D to practically finish GRRM's work was always going to fall short.

Why is this even a dilemma?! Jon clearly has the Stark mindset, was raised as one and Arya, Sansa and Bran are very clearly his adoptive sisters. Theon is something of a honorary Stark and he's not even related to them! I thought that the reveal will result in a typical "we are still a family" scene, which is a bit cliche, but appropriate in this case. But that would be in character, and we can't have that.

Game of Thrones has NEVER made a choice based on whether it will make the fans happy or "satisfied," that's why the Red Wedding was so shocking.
We were all led to believe that things were finally turning around for Robb Stark, and all that, "character development," everyone's whining about now was erased in one, horrible episode.
Nobody has ever had a, "perfect," end.
Being mad about a specific character's death now only highlights how unrealistic your expectations have become.
Happy fans don't have anything to whine and cry about though lol so, all the negative comments are to be expected from the, "vocal minority."
And, the only, "theory," that has proven true is that EVERYONE'S theories have been proven WRONG hahaha and that makes it ALL worth it to me!

@@twstf8905 if you are setting up a story in one way, then subvert it all at the last moment just for shocks then you have failed the ending. That's why we're so bitter. TRW was so good because it was horrifying, shocking and came out of nowhere when we know the story isn't over, it served to destroy the starks and give us an unbearable hatred for the lannister, Boltons and Freys.
There's no satisfaction for the story beats being set up, this season is a dissapointing mess with the best cast and technical mastery on TV.

I know, it's so sad. Even back in S7, ASX wasn't calling out dumb plot moments directly, because there was always a hope it might still get fixed. But there's just no redeeming quality about some of the S8 scenes.

It is really sad that Lena Heady has been reduced to looking out through the window for 5 minutes each episode, with an evil smile on her face. I think every character deserves a better last season, but the show runners are just cutting corners at this point to wrap it all up.

@@ShinyStarfire Hello! I am glad you liked it. I also like "collecting" those videos. The only annoying part is when they get deleted. Sadly, it happens. By the way, since you watched "The Bells", i have a theory for you: Danny is a Manchurian candidate, activated to the sound of bells. Also, episode 3 basically chucked out the "Prince that was promised" prophecy through the window, so poor, sweet, kind and innocent Shereen died for nothing. That made me very angry. But at least now we know that "valonquar" actually translates to "a big pile of rocks".
I wondered why it's triggered by the tolling of bells ...
Talking about the Valonqar prophecy, I found fitting comment under the video with the scene where Cersei and her friend visit the witch (or as in the books, Maggy the Frog):
GRRM: "You see Cersei's whole life is set out by the Valonqar prophecy"
D&D: "Yeah Yeah we got it, now watch her die by dropping a castle on her"
Not the unexpecting and surprising is happening in the last episodes of the series, but everything we never wanted.
The unfinished book series are starting to look more and more appealing as the show comes to a close.
Have fun waiting another decade for the conclusion of the cliff hanger in dance with dragon. George will finish winds of winter but a dream of spring, well keep dreaming

Jon is not a Stark yet his mom is a STARK. He was raised by STARKS. He lives with the STARKS. Hes the co-founder of STARKbucks. Like wtf. They even consider Theon a Stark and he's some random dude from an island.
Yeah I dont get why he keeps rejecting his family he lived with, particularly when he's in a position to make the rules in which the North legitimised Jon as a King.
Snag Prophet right that does not make senses to me and It’s like he’s dropped his family to be with Dany. I don’t like it at all. Why did he die to be brought back if he’s gonna make the same mistakes. He needs to listen to his family.

they might have been raised as the Starks, but they are not Stark, Theon is a Greyjoy and Jon is a Targaryen, Jon is not rejecting his family he just tells them the truth and thats it
@@komesar4482 yes but he's EXACTLY as much Stark as he is Targaryen, half and half. Because if I've understood it right, every other Targaryen for many (if not all) generations was PURE Targaryen, because they kept marrying brother and sister so that both parents were of the same blood line. Whereas Jon now is half of one and half of the other.
I know you get twenty million comments and won't see this, but I wanted to finally take a moment to thank you. This was a stellar video, as per usual; you were able to subtly convey your disappointment/confusion in regard to the way the plot is going, but also deliver a thoughtful, logical, deep analysis that made me rethink both episode 4 *and* episode 5. Your content is phenomenal, both for GoT and Westworld, and I'd be thrilled if you were able to branch out and do more shows - even more lighthearted stuff like the Orville. (I know this takes a huge amount of time, though.) Basically, watching your work has been one of the best parts of TH-cam for me, hands down, and I appreciate all of the effort you've put into this endeavor. Thank you!

I'm actually glad they followed through on Mad Queen Daenerys, especially because they've destroyed the arcs of so many characters this season. It wasn't executed perfectly, but it seems like, no matter what we got, it was going to be shitty.
Alt made a great prediction when he paralleled Dany's potential turn to madness because of rejection by the Northerners (and indeed all Westerosis) with Visery's madness when he was rejected by the Dothraki. Combine that with the losses of two dragons, Ser Jorah, Missandei and most damning of all the spread of the secret of Jon's true heritage (from Jon himself) it seems more and more plausible that this end was inevitable for Dany. The problem is it may have been done to abruptly. The biggest problem with season 8 is that is seems extremely rushed. If they had spread the story out more it would have been more successful.

Funny stuff about Ghost, cause in Book 5 (Dance of Dragons) Jon talks about those closest to him. And to quote the book "Ghost did not count. Ghost was closer than a friend. Ghost was part of him."

Dany asked about those ships in the previous episode and her 'wise counselors " told her not to worry about them. She didn't forget. The writers forgot and hoped we would forget. They need to be fired .

As s8e5 shows, the ships are no threat to a dragon, except if Euron uses homing spears and magically appearing ships.

cause see, I'd been wondering if even book readers were sketchy on this whole notion of Bran becoming the 3ER, because would it be too much of the 'deus ex machina' concept, you're making a character with pretty much limitless power. And the key to good writing when you have that is figuring out interesting and plausible ways to still make that character vulnerable somehow. But here, he's simply used when it pertains to the plot strictly as they want to use it, and he's ignored for "reasons" when the plot needs other characters to be hurt in some way.

The rest of the Starks aren't called Tully for the same reason - they took their fathers' name. Remember his old name, back when he thought he was a Stark bastard? Jon Snow. He thought he had Ned Starks' blood in him then, yet he still wasn't called a Stark, cos he didn't have a claim to the family name.
Patrilineality matters for your namesake in GOT. It's why bastards are called "snow" and "rivers" instead of their mother's name. because where they are from and the fact that they have no father is more important than their mother's name.

Part of Jon wants to and needs to stay in the north. The north is his home, it’s a huge part of him. Ghost can’t go south with Jon, he’s a direwolf. Direwolves, like Starks, are meant to stay in the north. They’re meant to roam beyond the wall, much like Jon. Perhaps in the books Jon will warg dream into Ghost so he can enjoy the life of freedom he desires whilst fulfilling his duties in Kings Landing.

True but Robert never had much sense of duty, he was just hedonistic and debaucherous. Jon on the other hand has a strong sense of duty.
What Varys means is that many want to rule for the sake of personal glory, power and wealth, so it may be a better option to have a ruler who doesn't want any of these things.

There's an interview with Dinklage where he talks about how shocked he was that Tyrion didn't even foresee that putting vulnerable people in the crypts during the battle of Winterfell was a problem. He sounded confused and disappointed, and said "I guess Tyrion isn't as smart as I thought he was."
'Cept for minor things, they're probably all gonna hold off on sharing their feelings until the damn thing is over. Blabbing too much during a shows' run is a great way to get other producers to shun you from future gigs.

Actually Gendry shouldn't even have a bastard name. Bastard names are reserved for highborn bastards. That's how it is in the books anyway, GRRM has spoken about it in interviews. If you're acknowledged by your highborn parent, then you get a bastard name. But Gendry lived all of his life without knowing who he was, and was never acknowledged by Robert. So he wouldn't have any surname at all. And if for some reason he did, then yeah, it would be Waters.
Gendry wasn't an _acknowledged_ bastard by Robert and as such be can't use Rivers or Waters as a surname.
Also, the GoT Wiki states that a bastard's last name depends on the region he was _born_ in. As we don't know where Gendry was born (we know he was raised in Kings Landing however) he could be a Rivers - if my first point wasn't true.
@@thatzootsuit8007 I know the book lore, I've read them all more than once. I was just pointing out the show's lack of understanding - saying that if anything, he would be a Waters, not a Rivers (if he had a bastard name).

@@caninci7379 It's good. It's not as great as it used to be in the past, but that doesn't mean the show is just garbage now. I've barely ever seen many series stay high. Just look at The Walking Dead, they dropped drastically trying to keep it all the way it was. They only went back up in ratings when they decided to drastically change the whole thing. I don't think Season 8 should be the last season, and they probably will make more fuckups, but I honestly doubt it will be the worst I've ever seen. So far, they make stupid mistakes, but holy shit I've seen some garbage on TV, and this is absolutely top tier compared to that.

Yincimaster I disagree. Ep1&2 of S8 were good, but 3&4 were hot garbage. They do not fit in the series and make 0 sense whatsoever.

Alt Shift X is the only analysis channel I have seen that reviews GoT in such a factual, logical and thought-provoking way. He’s not super opinionated or emotional; he just kind of tells you what happened and what might happen... which must be a considerably difficult feat given the writing of the show is a dead shell of what it used to be.
