You have been amazed by less than 10 percent of what Sri Lanka offers. It's a gorgeous island that does justice to its name seriously. Everything is world class there. You ask for nature it gives you a platter full of pristine rain forests. You ask for ancient architecture, my goodness a whole ancient world unfolds before you in 5 hours drive up north. It's a mesmerizing island that packs too many things in small stretch of land. Oh last but not least, Sri Lankan hospitality is like none other! Most awesome people I have ever met. Get me off of California I wanna be in Ella right now!❤

I'm a 57yo New Zealander. My earliest memory of my life is of being in a hotel in Ceylon en' route to London. The wrought iron door to a concrete verandah overlooking grass and palm/coconut trees. Dad pulling back the sheets to check for bedbugs. I would have been 2 going on 3yo. My sister delights in telling me I slept in a basket! Sounds cozy. I am loving seeing this place through your and Monika's eyes and recording knack for adventure-telling.

They promised that they would never return to London and threw their coats over board the ship before entering colombo harbour. They did not keep their promise, alas . Sri Lanka is one of my favourite places! I've been a couple of times and adore it! I believe (and willing to be corrected) the Bajaj and LML tuktuks are used around the beach areas... Up in the mountains and in hilly areas they use Vespas that run on diesel because they deal better with the cadence and thinner air.

It is amazing that in a span of a few hours one can go from a hot beach climate to some cool temperatures of tea plantations. Perfect weather for a nice cup of coffee or tea. Yes, the Germans were the first to come to Goa and love it, but no longer return as they say they have observed so much destruction of the natural beauty of the place. In spite of SL having a financial crisis, you would never know by how clean it is! The trash gets picked up and folk are educated enough not to litter. It is appalling in India. They do have nice natural beaches in the South other than Goa, but they are full of litter every way!! It is just destroyed! i just can't get over the fact that just next door SL does it right!
