Srilankan textile industry started way before Bangladesh and India. The uniqueness of ours is the craftsmanship and quality. You are right most people don’t know about us. As a industry professional I’m really proud to see this ❤️😍
They've been moving away from China as textiles have gotten more expensive. You also see more of them moving to Thailand. India is also the next popular. I still don't know how I feel about it since I've worked with brands and as much as they try to say their supply chain is clean of child labor it's never something they can completely avoid.

I went to Sri Lanka last year for Christmas and New Year! I have to say its a magical place and Ben is right; the people, the nature and wildlife are incredible.
As someone from sri lanka, its weird seeing people giving good reviews saying its magical since.. im to used to it.- but i feel very proud cuz of these positive comments

The accent, that's the Sri Lankan accent. I see a lots of hate comments in Instagram when people hear this accent saying its fake, thinking we're Indians. This is the Sri Lankan accent, and totally different from the Indian accent.

That's not true they pay to 3000-4000 LKR per day That's like 10-15 USD that's below minimum wage and you might be wondering how I know this ita because I live in this country
They treated better than Vietnam or Bangladesh because we have better labor laws. The countries imf who raise concerns about human rights in China . Advising our government to relax those laws.

It's disheartening to witness many brands relocating to India and Bangladesh for financial reasons. However, Sri Lanka stands out for producing garments of unparalleled quality. Thank you for choosing Sri Lanka, where excellence in craftsmanship shines bright.
I’m sad to see lot of factories are closing down and moving to India and Bangladesh coz it’s financially cheaper for them. But SriLanka makes the best quality garments comparing to all the competitors out there. And apart from that employees have many facilities and they are very happy to work there.
And terrestrial TV Channels wonder why people are moving away from watching their dross uninspired content, year by year, in their droves. Really enjoyed this Ben, so interesting. I stopped off in Sri Lanka on the way to the Maldives several years ago, spending a week there. Such warm and welcoming people...and the food...the food! Thank you for covering Sri Lanka. This country has a significantly highly educated population with little to no jobs opportunities. Hence you get very high quality workers for a fraction of the price/cost. Even if you pay the minimum wage from Canadian or EU standards, that would be a better pay for for most Sri Lankans when considering low cost of living there. Srilanka may import cotton yarns and weave cotton fabric. Its only a proccess of making cotton fabrics but you can not call it purely made on Srilanka.
@@donamie2808 well not exactly, Sri Lanka does have large amount of cotton lands on central part, although we are not doing it as a large scale business now, well our history has that over more than 2000 years ago that ancient people used cotton, however now mostly Sri Lanka produce Tea and rubber and coconut, however there's still some factory's in Sri Lanka use Sri Lankan cotton in there brands. however yes, I am sure we don't have more than 50k tress in whole country, since most area of country is covered with rice Pedy fields and large scale coconut, tea and rubber farms and there's no proper temperature amount for most parts in country as well, so the amount of cotton made in Sri Lanka only for country use, mostly

Does srilanka grows cotton. Never heard of it. There are giant cotton trees grown in northern part but those are not in commercial scale.
