Climbing Mt. Hapunang Banoi

Mt. Hapunang Banoi ("where the eagles come to eat and rest") in Montalban, Rizal is the first of all the Luzon mountains I'm privileged to climb. The highest--and supposedly the most difficult--of all the famous Rizal Trilogy mountains, Hapunang Banoi juts out 517 meters above sea level requiring hikers to scramble on sharp and steep limestone. The jagged peak offers a dramatic and panoramic view of Sitio Wawa, the whole province of Rizal and the southern fringes of the Sierra Madre range of mountains where it is a part of.
