Me to my wife: 'Hey babe, Cody just posted the weeky Penrose trail conditions report, I'm gonna be busy Saturday.' Thanks man, and keep the content up.
Good luck! 🍀 Beyond stoked for you and so excited to see my 250X dirt bike on top of the podium! Carburetor! Kickstarter! Yamaha! Most people say turn the YZ into KTM clones I say nah leave the YZ and YZX alone but let’s see a YZ300X carbureted kickstarter and headlight with hard enduro tune.
Cody for the win! You can see, feel and hear your passion for that bike. It's lights out for the rest of the field. Yamaha was so smart signing Cody for enduro, super smart move!
I'm rooting for you and the 250x at KOM. Enjoyed watching you beat Trystan last year. Kick start should not be a big deal given you pros ride it like I ride easy trails. But might be a challenge in some of the more technical events like TKO. Tell Yami we want eStart and hydro clutch. Best luck to you!
Killing it with the content, cool to see the process of you improving the bike. I spent my whole childhood riding Yamahas and this is making me want to get back on one. Here's to hoping Yamaha puts some R&D into an updated 2 stroke off-road model in the near future.
"Nice little test loop" is comprised of vertical death ledges.😂 Nice job with the content Cody. Looking forward to seeing you on the yz at tough like rorr.
Glenn and I are so stoked for you on your new adventure with the Yamaha. We got to see your win last year. I wonder what strategy you’ll use this year? Most of all, have some fun !! We’ll see you at the King of MOTO’s and good luck.
Another rad look at your set up. KING of the MOTOs is going to be so good with you and your new ride. GYTR must be logging all this in and getting their own set up for 2026 new YZ 250CW. It must come with that clutch cover lol. I know that 1000s are praying for a CW 250 or YZ250cw from dealer. I really see you in 1st or 2nd king of moto. As long as nothing is damaged.
I have the same bike and if you raise the forks in the tripples with 10mm from fork cap to top tripple clamp, it really speeds up the steering handling and feels more planted. I do my own suspension valving, KYB specialist, Yamaha certified.
Hey Cody what size flywheel weight are you running? You mentioned you put a GYTR one on, but I think they only make 8oz ones? I have a 2017 that I just naught for off-road like two weeks before you made the switch! Thanks man! I’m really loving what you are doing!
I put kx250 triples on my 250x and the offset makes a huge difference. Only mod needed is to the number plate. Oh and it’s now rubber mounted so that’s a plus’s.
We were off on the singletrack messing around, it started to snow really hard East side of Penrose Saturday. Did you get the snow? Was pretty heavy when we decided to call it a good morning run on various trails. The snow added to the rocky fun on stuff I was showing some guys. Saw your Van and trucks but were too cold to come see where you were at by that point. Thursday looks to be 50's so will be back down there.
Question.... Why no steering stabilizer, like Scott. Stops deflection, there is 3 sweep angles, and you set resistance, even on a extra light resistance it still helps deflection.
Good for resale..... that's how i market my old bikes.after a fresh set of plastics it's all stock, original owner, adult ridden / maintained, and low low miles ... no one never thinks i spent hundreds of hours of clutching stalling and dropping it in rock gardens
Question for not running a 12 tooth counter sprocket just how fast did you wear out your chain ? I'm riding a KTM 300xc-w and when I run the 13/51 my rear wheel is moved forward and I understand it's better for it to be as far back as posable ?? Your thoughts on this pls last question how may hour do you go in between fork and shock oil change?😊
I wonder how much the cold is affecting the suspension. Did you try to compensate for that? Did you lower the mousse air pressure? Putting a shorter kick starter lever would make it easier to get your big foot on the lever.
Man, this spot looks RAD, I recently moved out to CO and looking for some stuff like this. All the spots Ive tried have just been a ton of fast singletrack, which is fun, but I wanna suffer.
Curious on your opinion of that hydraulic clutch? Worth the money? Its the main thing i want to change on my YZ but i see a lot of mixed reviews online.
He answered this in a Q&A. He's only using the 4 stroke for the prelims. The 2 strokes are for the hard Enduro. Says that the 4s can't match the balance of the 2s for long runs.

Since it is a kick start bike I was especially surprised that you're not running a Rekluse Clutch. Is it a weight issue or just preference?

Why did you go with Brembo over the Megura hydro clutch ?
I'll get a video out about it. But it's a direct mount system. No discrepancy with a weird little linkage arm that the Magura has.
Are you still running the HITLIS ? What are your thoughts on it ?
I think it works quite well.
Nothing worse than showing up at the staging area only to find your buddy with his bike completely disassembled.. ;)
Glad someone else finds some spooge acceptable.
Minimal splooge is ideal for optimum performance
