Hello! I paid $131 and $26 to ship a package of bees from Mountain Sweet Honey. They use temperature controlled trucks and you pick up at your local post office. They were Italian and I had bought 2 packages from them last year. No issues so bought again. So far all 3 hives are still alive that I started last year! Plan on starting 4 more. Might split one and might get some packages from my local club that will have some. Excited and ready for Spring but have a rough couple of cold weeks ahead.
I prefer package bees with the idea of biosecurity. I bought BetterComb my first time for new empty hive boxes. The bees had sealed brood the second week. I had natural comb from there out.
As usual, your video is spot on. You are an excellent, no BS source for beginning beekeepers. I am driving to Shepherdstown, WV, just over the Potomac River from Maryland, to pay $130 (+$5 for marking) for 3 lb packages (mid March) , and $200 for 5-frame deep nucs in a plastic box (mid-April), Italians and Carnolians. Do you have experience with Buckfasts?
Good question! They didn't say what kind of bees are in the packages. It was the only place nearby that I could find selling packages, so I ordered one. The bee club is having people taking orders for nuc's at their next meeting. I'll have to ask them.
@BeekeepingMadeSimple thank you. This spring I hope to split my Italian and thinking of adding a queen or package? If they get through this winter? Rough one on temp changing . Now in 13 inch snow in Kansas City Mo and have done what I learned from you and locals? Mother nature is awesome and unforgivable. Take care
Kind of disappointed you can't see my bug rug in the shot :) I am NOT making any money off of sharing this with you, but I recently bought a rug from ruggable.com that is all bugs. It is beautiful and makes me smile when I look at it. Also, please pardon the echo. Our house is still somewhat empty as we slowly get furniture for it. Just finished painting and reupholstering a kitchen table & chairs. Next on my list is to find a coffee table and paint a bee mural for the office!

Thank you for the information. Good to know some places are doing things humanely.
Thank you for the video. Appreciate it your time.
Thanks for watching!

Nice! Thanks for the information and tips. That's great there was pupae two weeks into putting them in your hive.

Thanks! I have no experience with Buckfast bees. Do you? I have heard very little about them too. I wonder if they're not as common in the U.S.?
Just curious of what breed of bees you ordered? I am thinking about carnolian possibly to see how they do against mites?

California, southern sierra. 3500 ft el. 93240. $205. delivered. Italian If we don't get rain, lots of sugar this year.
You deliver them! That's a great deal.
😁The days are getting longer and the bees know it.👍
They are pricey in Canada 275 for a 4 frame nuc it’s sad I charge 175 for a 5 frame ❤I think that’s the best nuc to buy
Good for you! It's easy to get caught up in pricing at what everyone else sets their prices at over pricing what you think is fair.
I would never sell or buy a 3 frame 5 frames packed only
I agree. 3 frame nucs are too small.
