    3x in cash games is my opening raise, mostly.
    2.3x in tournaments, mostly.
    Depends of my position and characteristics I think B, SB and BB have, and of effective stack sizes; so it can vary like a little bit smaller or/and significantly higher.
    Talk about 3-, 4-bet ranges and sizes Daniel, that's what I would like to hear from you ☺

    There are so many nuances to tournament hold 'em. I always try to think, "What am I trying to accomplish with my raise?" Sometimes I like to put in a small raise pre flop with marginal hands in middle position that I want to see a flop with -- like 97 suited -- and I don't want to limp and get blown off the hand before I see a flop. There's a million different reasons to raise and how much you put in greatly influences how the hand can play out.

    I have a good question Daniel. In a cash game. 1-2 no limit. The table has been playing a typical $8-12 preflop raise(because ppl generally play 1-2 like 2-4). Anyways, I crazy player sits down and starts raising $28 minimum. And the table loosens way up. And the typical preflop for every other player becomes $20. Should I start thinking of this game as a 2-5 or 5-10 game?

  • @tigerbln734
    @tigerbln734 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice helpful tips Daniel!
    Maybe it´s too deep in details, but if there is a „sticky“ opponent on the
    button, he tends to call all kind of garbage hands, just because of the position right?
    Especially in early levels of a tourney, because everyone is still so deep stacked. Know
    that from low-buy-in tourneys, but is that the same in high or high roller buy-in tourneys too?

    • @tigerbln734
      @tigerbln734 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Daniel. But do you think there is are difference between the power of “in position”/ button position in low buy-in tourneys and high-rollers?
      Could imagine that in high-rollers you play more “real poker” and don´t gamble with
      bad cards only because of the position. That´s definitely players tend to do in low buy-in or daily
      tourneys. Like calling for example with 72 off in position because they think it´s “cool” to call with crappy hands, they hit the deuce and call all streets and the original raiser “only” had Ace high with AK.

    Hey Daniel, how do you handle straddlers? Playing cash games, I went against a very aggressive opponent using straddling, he would raise 5 times no matter what and then just kept firing both barrels after the flop. It did well, obviously once he gets caught then he will lose lots, but he was dominating the table. Would really enjoy your POV and well do you even straddle?

    • @Shmeeps_phd
      @Shmeeps_phd 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just play the straddle as if it was the big blind. Don't limp into a straddle. If he's playing every straddle then raise wider and call lighter.

      F&S Reacts depends on how many chips you have behind. If you're confident your ahead of him snap him off, if not then lay the hand. Think of what beats you there aces or a set. Do you put him on a big hand pre flop. My pick would be he wants the pot with his ace queen. So snap him off

    • @realcute

      For me it is really something different when you play in a "real" tournament. First of all you can see your opponent. You can try to read them, in tournaments with a cheaper buy-in it really matters cause there are a lot of amateurs who dont know how to act when they actually sit at the table. And, I dont know if its just me, bit I feel like I have better control over my stack when I play in rl. When I play online I often dont even realize how much I actually have/how low my stack is because its just a small window showing how much you have. When you have an actual stack sitting in front of you you can keep it under control easier. But the most important thing for me: its way more fun playing against people you can talk to face to face, make some jokes and just talk about different stuff when there is a break or something.

I honestly can't not stand online poker (being 22) I just never got into it so I'm being a bit biased haha. it's hard to put in words but there's just a more "Genuine" feeling. for lack of a better word . guess you'd just have to play to really understand or get a personal opinion lol

      He never said avoid post flop improvement. He obviously thinks it is alot easier to improve your bet sizing than post flopplY. There are so many strategies for post flop play in different positions against different players in different scenarios that ya that is going to be the hardest to improve overall. He never said learning one is better than the other. He is offering a fast way to improve your game if there was a bet sizing hole in it.
