  • MMM 230 - My wife asked for a nice tea box, and I was happy to oblige! This was my first time working with hickory wood, and what a joy it was to use. I was also experimenting with plexiglass for the first time here too.

    I love everything about this box. You really combined function with aesthetics beautifully!

    I like the emphasis on the separation of the kid and box with the chamfer. Also nice touch with the foggy (?) plexiglass. Looks good!

      Thanks! It worked to fix a slight alignment problem. Got to love those little touches that happen during the design process.

    Your wife must have been so happy to see the tea box. I love it. I'm considering whether I can make one myself.

    Great build Kris, hickory and purple heart look good together. Regarding the individual who did not like this style of video, remind him you are from Wisconsin and can easily send him some cheese to go with his WHINE!!!!!!

    Beautiful tea box. I was looking for an example to build for my sister and brother in law who live in England and are of course big tea drinkers. But now I need to point out safety. If you want to keep your fingers, start using push sticks. Take this from one who learned the hard way.

    Hey Kriss, Lovely job on the Tea Box :) Looks great! What was the finish you used?

    • @MidwestManMountain
      @MidwestManMountain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks buddy! I used shellac, two coats, buffed down with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. That's my preferred method for finishing just about anything :)

      The holidays are a busy time, no doubt! Thanks for the well wishes. Moose did very well with the tree and presents. He never once tried to eat or play with anything. Such a good boy :)

    Gorgeous tea box. What did you use for the bottom of the box?

  • @zachdavis5834
    @zachdavis5834 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey there! Me again. Did you use any sort of epoxy/adhesive to keep the plexiglass lid in place? Or did it just fit perfectly in?

    • @MidwestManMountain
      @MidwestManMountain  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I did NOT use anything to keep the lid in place originally, but I did go back after the video and put a nice little bead of clear caulk on the underside to affix it. So. Much. Better.
