@@ka-boom2083 I'm not actually sure about the movie, but the short story is about a family who lives in an exceptionally crowded city (I believe it takes place in Long Island) driving back from a trip to the beach. The short story's namesake is a long tunnel on the way back to the city that will, at random, cut off the entrance and exit and kill everyone inside (the method is not described) as a means to control the population. This movie about “the greater good” is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a plot that has been done to death and yet Hollywood still finds new ways to show what they think of their audiences. One thing I am absolutely tired of is the constant messages about the rich and powerful. How can they miss the golden opportunity to show what would likely happen in the end of the world scenario? If the O-zone layer was completely depleted (which they would have to explain since after the world legislation on chemicals that were destroying it, the O-zone has been able to repair itself), the fact that paper money wouldn’t have any sort of value which means prices would have been heavily inflated, the “sacrifice” would need to be better explained as using a monetary reward system would not work, the “shunning” would only work on those who actually care about people’s opinions on them and at a certain point it would lose all meaning, imprisoning those who “disobey” is a terrible waste of resources which is something that is actually very well known, etc. Hollywood continues to amaze me on how out of touch they show themselves to really be with movies like this. If they were really concerned about the populace, they would have implemented a similar law as China’s infamous “One Child” as well as the very same plot points used in movies like Galactica where only the very “best” children were allowed to be born. Heck, even using the plot point of The Lot would have made more sense than this and that involved a community picking out a sheet of paper with a black spot, and the family that chose it is made to do it again and the person to draw the black spot was then killed. How can they take a basic plot idea and jack it up? Again, a family this dysfunctional would not have a “come together” moment. Especially since one of the many things that people are talking about and taking very seriously is the effect of a toxic family environment and cutting them out of their lives to save their own sanity. Note: I mentioned the Lot a few times and quite honestly, if they wanted to do a story like that they should have just did it.

This was such a good idea for a film. It brings up a lot of moral questions and is an interesting concept. I haven’t seen the film but wanted to see it when i heard about it
Wiki says that Ashley actually died when it appeared like she passed out. With new euthanasia laws like in Canada, where they offer it as solution to clinical depression and such, the theme at least is prescient.
I always forget that David Croeningberg was a real person... Even then, knowing he was real but just forgetting, I never knew he had any children though. Crazy stuff.
This reminds me of what Heath Ledgter's Joker said about how everybody is just "one bad day" away from becoming like him. This movie is that concept but at a family level. One bad day was all it took to set this family against one another in a riot of self-destruction.
@@kanyenorth2605 1. Yes, there were cracks in the foundation, but prior to this moment, the family was holding together. But in a very brittle sort of way. You did see how they tried to kill each other, yes? 2. Yes Joker used it as a justification for who and what he is which Batman correctly sees through. And yet, Joker believes it. He is a fallen figure who spreads destruction disguised as joy. A very sinister person in my book.
@daniell1483 imo it's much more terrifying when you realize it could be a reality woth how dysfunctional families are today I wouldn't bet against families voluntarily sacrificing someone for money that's the horror in it for me
@@kanyenorth2605 I understand what you mean. Due to many factors honestly, I have very little family. Scenes like the whole family set around a table, eating together to cooperate as a single unit... I never had anything like that. As an only child and a single parent, our family was just as dysfunctional but in a different way. So to me it is less scary and just more sad to see a family that COULD have pulled together instead fractures altogether. It is like seeing your ideal representation of family ruined. That's what I see and feel.
A program like this would lead to selfless, objectively good, individuals enrolling. The result could only be a small group of elites, and a large group of ne'er-do-well spreading misery. Not too different from how things are going currently.
Yeah, doesn't make sense to me but perhaps I missed something, but how are the options death OR jail , the jailed person would still be using the Nation's and government's resources arguably more so in incarceration where meals, hot water clothing etcetera have to be provided for the individual

I thought the twist ending would be that the Dad was still alive.
Thanks for another upload, love your channel
Always excited to see some cronenberg even if it's bad!
But honestly i enjoyed it!
Wiki says that Ashley actually died when it appeared like she passed out. With new euthanasia laws like in Canada, where they offer it as solution to clinical depression and such, the theme at least is prescient.
man was hoping some repoman spooki mutation horror
Just finished it and it was alright I guess. Not super flashy but not bad either, that ending definitely was not satisfying though.
Another gret upload!
Someday you'll get to 2009's "Lo."
A boy can dream.
Please, I NEED an ending explained on LONGLEGS!!!
Wake up babe new foundflix video
❤ "can't it be both" 24:44
What a lackluster ending lmao 😂
Enlisting sort of reminds me of unwinding, from that one neal shusterman book
I always forget that David Croeningberg was a real person... Even then, knowing he was real but just forgetting, I never knew he had any children though. Crazy stuff.
You should do an explanation of Pan's Labyrinth!
This reminds me of what Heath Ledgter's Joker said about how everybody is just "one bad day" away from becoming like him. This movie is that concept but at a family level. One bad day was all it took to set this family against one another in a riot of self-destruction.
Where you'd get that it made a point at the very start the family was assholes and pretty much had it out for eachother
One bad day wasn't even meant to be used that way it was a excuse joker used to commit crimes and batman being the exception to that rule
Cant wait till all films are made by the same few noble families lol
Sick!! 30 minute Foundflix! And it hasn’t been two weeks since the last!
Can’t wait for after work!
Your voice over will pair well with an upbeat comedy movie. Really missing that dark ambience aspect. Embrace the horror
Utterly torturous and disturbing
Who was the woman under the sheet that they tested on? I don't remember seeing her prior.
DOC: I want my armor.
I like how Noah looks like the ice truck killer
I can’t believe Bob was the humane harbor butcher all along
this movie is a "humane" version of The Purge
A program like this would lead to selfless, objectively good, individuals enrolling. The result could only be a small group of elites, and a large group of ne'er-do-well spreading misery. Not too different from how things are going currently.
Yeah, doesn't make sense to me but perhaps I missed something, but how are the options death OR jail , the jailed person would still be using the Nation's and government's resources arguably more so in incarceration where meals, hot water clothing etcetera have to be provided for the individual
There was literally an episode of the show "Sliders" that did this premise. Wouldn't it be fun if they took place in the same world?
Is foundlix going to do the new alien Romulus? I watched it this weekend and have lots of questions
Why would she stab his hand and not him…?
This movie is a very accurate representation of siblings fighting.
Beat the shit out of each other and then get over it.
This movie made me so deeply angry because it truly felt like it was a few good script changes away from being a fun potential mindfuck but instead it just made the worst possible choices at every single point and was so deeply unsatisfying to watch.
I wouldn’t wanna talk to dad either
The biggest killer of all that isn’t addressed. Inflation
You always upload when im going to bed lol. Morning gang rise up! Get some coffee...maybe a donut
