You missed quite a few references: - The goose on Maxine's make-up table is a nod to one in Pearl. - The make-up Maxxine wears at the club is a nod to Dale Bozzio of the band Missing Persons. She is the original Lady Gaga.
I think the X series is actually an ingenious one if you think about it? You can watch each one of these films independently while also watching them as a series. Sure, they may vaguely connect to each other as a set story but it's still a great trilogy. I felt the series reached a great conclusion. The theme of Chasing Stardom, Family expectations vs one's dream, and the XXXX industry all came together. I think Ti West orchestrated a fair story.
Ehhh...for me, I'm comfortable enough with it being set dressing. Personally, I find when media tries to weave fiction into real murders it starts to read more as murder fanfic than a gripping story; it always feels as though they're aiming for the same "Oh what a dangerous world we live in, our women are not safe!" Type vibe, you know? Most of the time they end up being extremely pro-cop as well, which only sucks if you're left. I'm open to being proved wrong though, historical fictions a genre for a reason.
The Bette Davis quote at the start of the movie is for sure a reference to the real life controversy with Mia Goth that came out while filming this movie. Even more than with Maxxxine I feel like that quote applied to the on set rumours and lawsuit. Kinda a slay.
idk why he didn't just edit it out LMAO, and he also missed some syllables on a few words and didn't go back to fix them. seems kinda lazy from such an established channel
This makes me think what is going to be revealed in the book version of the X trilogy since they're based on the script and maybe get more details on Maxine
@@outro-nevermindxx I would enjoy some novelizations of these movies. It’s unique as they’re usually based on original shooting scripts before they revise for what is onscreen; the OG Halloween is a prime example as the novelization of the ‘78 film actually does lay the groundwork that the Cult of Thorn trilogy used. Yeah that was real and I’m guessing the producers saw that and got a light bulb moment 🤣🤣🤣
@@LucyLioness100 And Honestly I don't mind this cause it would be much nicer than having to wait for another film come out years later and I wished they continued on with the novelization of horror films so maybe with the X trilogy, they can start it back up and the original Halloween film novels was the first thing I thought of when they announced the X series
Lots of tension builds right from the start, drawing you in immediately. One thing that stands out is the eerie atmosphere, truly unsettling. Nothing feels quite safe, and you’re always on edge. Gripping moments keep you hooked without letting go, and every scene adds to the mystery. Little by little, the story unfolds, but never too much at once. Every character seems to have something to hide, and you can’t help but feel suspicious. Great pacing keeps you guessing, and just when you think you know what’s coming, something else happens. Surprises abound, making it an intense ride from beginning to end.
Here’s where the real tension starts to rise. Every moment feels like it’s leading to something you can't quite predict. In the shadows, there’s always a sense of looming danger. Silence never stays for long; it’s always broken by something unsettling. Coming closer, the dread intensifies. One by one, the clues start to fall into place, but they only raise more questions. Making sense of it all becomes harder as the story twists and turns. In every corner, there’s a hint that something terrifying is just around the bend. No one is ever truly safe, and you can feel the weight of what’s coming. Goosebumps are guaranteed as the tension keeps rising.
Took me long long time to understand why I like Foundflix over others. It's the talking at us tone and dark sense of humor reminds me of horror movie host, Joe Bob Briggs from TNT.
After enjoying Pearl, I had high hopes for this one but I guess I'm on the side that didn't like it very much. We follow Max as things happen to her and around her but I felt like she didn't really do much of anything. There's always someone else who steps in to help and then she's just kind of... there.
I kept my expectations tempered, but I was still looking forward to seeing it. There are a couple things I liked, but overall it was a letdown compared to the other two films. Agreed that Maxine was kinda just a prop until the climax said “okay now you can do something useful”

Fun fact: Mia Goth, Ti West and A24 are currently being sued by an extra who worked on this movie. He claims that while shooting a scene where he played a corpse, Goth was supposed to either run past or step over him then keep moving. He claims after mentioning she nearly stepped on him in one take, she deliberately kicked him in the head during the next take. He claims Goth then cornered him in a bathroom and mocked him (basically a “what are you gonna do about it, I’m the star and you’re just an extra” thing), and when he spoke to West and the producers about it they fired him. Goth is being sued for battery and damages (he claims to have suffered a concussion), West and A24 are being sued separately for wrongful termination.
I’d hesitate to promote this information. Not only is the story suspicious in terms of the ways movies are made, but the man has been previously convicted for previously committing fraud.
As soon as the movie began with the old family video, I knew her father was the killer. R.R. was so obviously a red herring. So I was pretty disappointed that the surprise killer was THAT obvious.
Conflicted between whether to watch this ending explained or watch the actual movie for this one ‘cause it looks like such a fun movie to watch with friends 😭😭
Stick with the video. The movie, especially when you’ve seen the entire trilogy, is low key infuriating. Found myself asking “wtf was the point?” a lot while watching it
This might be my favorite trilogy of all times! Each movie is so distinct and uniquely stylized, works so well as standalone or put together. not to mention Mia Goth is also perfect for the role! Hoping to see more of her in the future
I wish you would do Paradise Hills. It's one of my favorite movies and I've watched it a couple of times. However, the climax is quite vague to be honest. If you want a break for slasher films, maybe you can feature the movie and explain the ending. I've been a fan of yours for years now since I am totally terrified of watching horror/slasher films.
