Too many players & companies go on about maximum drum resonance nowadays, I love that dead short decay drum sound of the snare, toms & bass drum, Al Jackson & Ronnie Tutt spring to mind of this sound, nothing worse than over ringy drums.
I think 70s drummer is possibly my favourite alongside 60s drummer. I am shocked at some of the negative comments. How could anybody slam these drum libraries?
It seams super boring, yes! but it is drummers like these that really helps one man bands like me to get the drums I want to have. That said I don't own NIAR70's though, but I own the NIAR60's + several expansions for EZ Drummer, and they fill up the 70's gap for me pretty nicely.
The description of the Premier kit is very vague. Does anyone know if it is a "Premier Elite", or "Premier Resonator" (with the inner linings). Externally the 70s Elite and Resonator kit are identical, so it would be helpful to know as the Resonator is warmer, fuller sounding (and louder) due to the double lined shell.
Why would you want a thick and saturated drum as your base sound? People seems to forget that the sound of the drums on the records of the time is not the natural sound, it's the result of using vintage analog outboard gears and recording it to tape. Bonham doesn't play that hard, his gigantic sound on the albums was the result of heavy compressions. With clean drums like these you can adjust it the way you want with eqs and compression to fit your music instead of frustatingly to work with a sound that already has effects that you can't remove.
cant wait to dowload these samples free somewhere on line, the make a number 1 track and become rich and famouse , then go live on a small island of the coast of uganduniesian, then grow an afro cause there,s no mirriors on the island
If you have Abbey Road Drummer Collection you get brushes in the 50s drummer library. But another way to achieve the effect of brushes is to adjust the attack in the snare. Or use another VST or library for brushes.
I mean...I know this video is supposed to -promote- their product...and this is how you sample a drum kit - but I can't help but laugh at how much this teeters on being almost comedic around the the 1:50 mark onwards... :-) That said...could someone give me some tips on how to get a John 'JR' Robinson sounding kit with this, ca "Off The Wall" and "Thriller"?? Or is it even possible?
Not everybody gets to walk through the doors of Abbey Road Studios, most people would jump at the chance to visit Abbey Road Studios. The guys at Native Instruments are very passionate about their job creating all these sample libraries and get to visit so many of these wonerful places where they even get to sample some extreamly rare and priceless instruments.
Bought this a few weeks ago and it has literally shaken up my world. What a fantastic company NI is.
NI - The future of sound: Drumkit from the 1970 :D

MAN THAT WAS ONE INTENSE VIDEO!!!!
I'm looking for the tight 70s drum sound, best heard on Rush's 2112.
Good Sound !
Authentic Abbey Road pull-the-guy-out-of-hallway-to-record-some-claps claps!
@cast390 Probably just to test if they're getting anything on the mics.

Why didn't they include the scratching on the mic samples?
i like it
what is this Premier model?
Does anybody know if you can import midi drum tracks from outside programs like guitar pro?
cool
Any one know the name/model of the mic pictured from 1:04-1:05?
The slim body mic with the "ball" head is an AKG D19c. Used a lot as Ringo's overhead mic.

Looks like Spiderman isn't only a reporter during the day but also an AR studio's sound tech !!! ( 2:10 )
NI: Where are the Brush sounds?. I mean this is awesome lib, but without Brush sounds to write smooth jazz rhymes! ... ! or ?

@adds102 That would be Ringo Star in Let it Be Recordings.
@adds102 yea man.. my drummer had no idea what was in store for him when we sampling out his kit in his basement.. lmfao he definatly wasnt happy
I'VE RECORDED THERE IN STUDIO 2! Just sayin'...
@samsamba08 Simple, use an electric drumset. thats pretty much the only way.
@kb1629 nice one :D
Tea Towels!
@adds102 No that would be a greeter at walmart.

34 velocity layers? No round robin? Machine gunning waiting to happen
There are round robins in all of the Native Instruments drum libraries.
That seems super boring. setting all that stuff up. then hitting each drum harder and harder. seems terrible!
or was it Bear Grylls? well I'm not sure !
omg it seems like the most boring job in the world
very interesting job
results aren't boring tho.
