excellent Video. Thank you soooooo much! I learned a lot from it. I think you are the first one who shows how to use the inbuilt features in the Output Section. Can you recommend a Video Tutorial how best easiest to learn and train finger drumming? I honestly would consider you as a Master in that. Cheers..Doc!
Thank you so much Doc!! While I get along fine on the keyboard drums I must acknowledge who I think is truly one of the world's best keyboard drummers: the Korean music genius Yohan Kim ! Check out his video: th-cam.com/video/XiOrUXs-Qf4/w-d-xo.html I will make a video about my personal keyboard layout soon, so stay tuned - and please subscribe if you haven't already ;-) Best of luck with your keyboard drumming !!
Great presentation! there are many people that would love this video including blind music professionals like myself. appreciated you reading out the frequencies and dB. would love to have heard more about how you had things set up on the keyboard where you placed your drums etc. you did some of that and it was awesome! just remember, that some of your viewers may not be able to see what is obvious on the screen. great job! Hope you continue this series!
i got NI this year - now i realize, there's really no excuse not for me to make the songs i want. hopefully they release a 'ni singer' at some point. lol thanks
Great vid. I am considering getting a whole new computer setup and subscribing to pro Tools ( I have Protools 9, but my computer is 11 years old and uses Windows 7, that protools will not work on Windows 10 and up. I am kind of a novice at all of this stuff, If I wanted to use Abbey Road drums from NI, I would just need to get Kontakt, which is free, right ? is there any advantage to having the paid Komplete thing when using Abbey Road drums ?
Really enjoyed your video. I love the sound of the drums you created, and especially your playing. I am new to Kontakt and I don't understand how you routed the overheads, or the instruments, to individual channels. I at first did not even know how to open the Outputs. Once I figured that out I added 7 more channels. But when I click on Master it still only offers me st.1 in the dropdown, but I can clearly see that you have 8 channels to select from. I did also connect each channel so that I have the 1l2 under each fader. What am I missing? Thanks.
Abraham this only works with the 70's drummer library - you can't get that sound from Studio drummer - I also have that program and like it. 70's drummer is more of an all round sound library and works for more styles, in my opinion!
Wish I could bro - can't upload files. Sometimes I exchange preset files with my clients or students, but for the most part I teach them how to do learn this programming themselves. (They learn that in the one-on-one sessions on Zoom or Skype.) That being said, I might do a video on the programming part in the future. Stay creative and take care!
Greetings from London! Thanks for posting such an informative video, a pleasure to watch. I have a problem that you may be able to shed some light on . All my Abby Road drummers from 50's to Modern take a lot more time to load into Kontakt or Komplete Kontrol than most of my other libraries (up to 3 minutes). Is this normal? They live live on Samsung SSD attached directly to my MacPro. Are there any ways to optimise the samples to load faster? Thanks
Joe that is absolutely not normal and I wish I spontaneously knew a solution. My instinct is to verify if the standalone app shows the same behavior. Then I would create a copy of one of the slow libraries on an internal drive and launch that copy and see if it does the same. I hope you find the cause of this quickly. Best of luck to you! Please subscribe if you haven't already - thanks so much for your support!
Hi Stephan and thak you for your great video !! Wonderful ! Can you tell me how do you manage to route each instrument on each channel. I only manage to have a stereo one even if I created a multi ..... Your advices are so important in this window !! Thanks again from France!
Petter I would consider it but you must have the exact library in order for it to work. Can't guarantee it's gonna sound 100 % the same if even the software version is different. Connect with me at admin@stephanoberhoff.com when you have a moment!
@@RideTheFuture I tried to email you, but got an automatic response from your webhost (spectrummultimedia) that it wasn't delivered. Could you try to reach me at petter@rongsv.no? 🙂
Hey Petter, have you been successful applying the performance I sent you to your Kontakt library? Please share with us here in a comment! All my best Stephan
Good review and finger drumming man. These sound ok but they're too clean for my tastes. Something about the kick throws me off too, I couldn't get my AR 60's drums kick to where I liked it either. The PastToFuture 70's kit sounds better to me right away before any processing. I still might grab this at some one though.
I hear ya Nick. I think this is a very good workhorse kit (even was able to get a very convincing samba performance out of it - which is a serious challenge for any VI kit) That being said, it sure would be nice if NI would work on more sophisticated saturation plugins (the built in ones are kinda basic and don't apply well to percussive sounds i.m.e.) That would color the kit darker and give it some more heft and fatness. They would need to be plugged into the internal mixer. Anyways, just thinking out loud ...best of luck with all you do! Please subscribe if you haven't already - thanks man!

This is some of the best keyboard drumming I've ever heard. You are a master.
Incredibly instructive video!
Now this is the type of video that is helpful, interesting, entertaining and motivating. Suscribed 😉👍
Great tutorial. Love the Abbey Road drummer pack!

Hey Alan - I'm - almost - grateful for the gig you almost gave me !! 😂😅😋
@@RideTheFuture Man! You are the best. You're an amazing musician and deserve the best. I admire you! Keep it up!
Can you make a video on how to set up your keyboard/pad layout to feel like a real drummer is playing it, makes any sense?

So glad you found this motivating JWP ! Please consider subscribing if you haven't already. Next set of videos already in the making!!
amazing stuff! how do you get all the routing for individual mic positions?
What's coming out of channel 3 kind sir? And we didn't get to see the second plugin on the snare :'( Thank you for your video though!
Great video. Thanks for it. Will you mind to upload the nks file you created for the video? Regards.

Hi Stephan, great video, I didn’t catch what comes after he convolution reverb on the snare, is it a compressor? If so, what are the parameters?
This is awesome! Where can I get this setting. I dont have 70s Drummer. But I do I have studio drummer.

70's drummer is more of an all round sound library and works for more styles, in my opinion!
Abraham you gonna need this very library - it won't work with other libraries.
Hey Bro! can you leave your drum preset so we can investigate your work (comp, conv and general settings)?
Dope video!

Awesome video, great sounding kit. I’m doing the same! What reverb preset are you using for toms and what’s the eq on the snare?

Bonjour mon ami! The assignment to multiple outputs is actually covered inside the video ! Have fun and au revoir ;-)
Sounds great. Do you know how this compares with Addictive Drums?
Both are good programs - and both get good sounding results right off the bat. I own both and love both!
Sounds great! Is there a chance you might share this preset/Kontakt multi?

I'm looking for drum library with many various different samples what would you recommend?
That really depends on the kind of music you want to make! Can you be more specific ?
Jesus, this man is weaponized!
