This scene just stabbed me in the heart. Not-Thing Donna pushed his buttons and made him vulnerable and then just ripped the rug out from under him. It felt terribly cruel.
Also, does anyone else think David Tennant has just grown exponentially as an actor with age? I mean, he was always amazing, but his performance in these specials so far has just been next-level imo.

I do appreciate that Davies isnt sweeping the last run under the rug and is actually building upon it and showing more of the Doctor's trauma from the Flux event. Half of the universe was wiped out because of elements from their past and now they feel like they have to keep running to avoid burning up in the immense guilt.

@@dylerturden8018 Well, RtD did also write the line "I made a jigsaw out of your history" to implay that anything could be canon now. (I feel he wrote this to calm down those who really hated the Chibnall era thought😅)
But AGREE! So glad that he decide to continue the plot Chibnall has gave us. Regardless if it's good or not, it shouldn't be ignore (And has full of potentiel).

@@thedoconscratchthat depends on whether one counts the full cumulative time in Heaven Sent as lived experience rather than just the final loop -- a line from that episode suggests that the Doctor may more or less possess the memory of every loop, but I think it is a legitimate point of interpretation that will likely never get a solid answer

@mackenziejohnson5200 I mean he did seem to remember at the end of each loop when The Veil killed him so I'd say that yes he does remember and the only reason why doing that for 4 and half billon years didn't drive him insane is because The Doctor is already a bit insane. Just a bit.

I wish the Doctor had actually seen the real effects of the Flux and not been wrapped up in the Division story the whole time. They never got to see a world devastated, people lost, people displaced, if they’d had the Doctor on one of those doomed worlds and trying to save as many people as possible but failing it would’ve been devastating and added so much more to this moment.

RTD's return has been very rocky so far but at least he's added that emotional depth back into the show. It shouldn't have taken this long for us (as an audience) to connect with the doctor's pain over the flux and the timeless child

Can't see the other reply, so figure it was a mean one. Adding this so you get a NOT mean one, I'm really glad you enjoyed Whittaker's run. Honestly, even though I don't love the ideas of the Flux or Timeless Child or Fugitive Doctor (more like I don't like the presentation/execution while liking the concepts), I still agree the solution isn't to IGNORE them but to actually EXPAND on them. My problem with them was mostly that they were such massive concepts introduced then... never addressed again. So I love that this implies RTD is actually going to expand on them in richer ways, because I think they were mostly untapped in Chibnall's run and exploring them in more detail is how to make them better realized concepts.
So basically I agree, the show shouldn't ignore ANY part of the Doctor's history. Heck, even "The Sensorites" gets mentioned in "Planet of the Ood." All of it is part of how the Doctor became who he is now, and all of it has been part of his journey since 1963. To ignore or skip any part of that journey is like losing part of the character.

@@BaronMartinI like how these two commenters above you express how they are bad writers.
Good writers don't ignore what came after them, terrible writing (And bot was it some terrible writing) or good. They acknowledge what came before, directly or indirectly, and incorporate it into their narrative. Some of my favorite stories are direct responses and/or refutations of bad plot points in the past. As another commeter said, this sequence talking about the Flux is better than the entire Flux atoryline.
RTD actually acknowledging the fallout of Flux, rather than just ignoring it like Chibnall, is good writing. It actually gives that series some narrative weight because now it actually means something.
