- 3 year old EBJD and 1.5 year old polleni in 55 gallon. Have them separated off due to polleni’a aggressive behavior. My EBJD names Poseidon started off very aggressive but has become very docile for his species in the last year. Very healthy and fed only bug bites by Fluval.

Wow. Rare ass fish to get those electric blues that big. They drop like flies when they are small. What a beauty.
he lived for 5.5 years! loved that fish man
This fish struggled compared to any other breed I've kept. Very prone to infection.
He’s died since? And yea it’s very difficult to keep those. I have tried 4 times. Largest one got was 5”. Then he just died randomly. Seems they all just die. It’s too bad. Such an amazing fish.
@@Dros34 yes unfortunately he did die even having his own 55gallon tank. Hardest fish to keep healthy that I've ever had.
@@TheEricInman Damn. I bet you where bummed. 5 years is impressive though. Right now I have a ton of fish but my favorite is a massive redhead veija. Such a beautiful fish. And it’s about 14”. I know I’ll be bummed when he goes. I also have a beautiful Jack full grown. My first fish I’ve ever owned was a Jack when I was a kid so I’ve always had some connection to them.
Suprising to see every electric blue jwck i have ever seen or owned die within weeks of purchasing them from the store. This is so rare to see one that size
Try liveaqauria.com. They are located in california but ship pretty much anywhere. Mine lived to be about 5 which is longer than most EBJD but still shorter than a regular Jack.
i am from the UK unfortunately they are readily available here but as i said never live past a few weeks. I have a stary night cichlid too such awesome looking fish@@TheEricInman
@@intergalacticmuffin7071 i agree both are beautiful fish. I’m sorry to hear that about the EBJDs in your area. They unfortunately are like that just about every where. Super prone to disease and just very weak fish in general
Absolutely beautiful fish brotha
Stunning fish 2024👍
Nice seeing an electric blue JD that’s bigger than 2 inches lol, nice Bleekeri! I have one of them too😎
the reason I posted is because most do not get this big
That story night should be with more starry nights. They are endangered in the wild.
I gave this fish to a friend and it is living by itself in a 75gallon tank very happily. It's like 8 years old at this point so i doubt it'll live much longer!
Awesome fish. I have a young ebjd in one tank and a polleni in another. I cant wait to see them at this size.
not all get this size
Did you grow this one from a baby? know where to get any adults?
@@TheEricInman
@@keithj222 grown from a baby
Wowww beautiful I had two about 3 inches but they didn’t make it now I have a Oscar tank
Wooow beautiful
Too bad they don't live long otherwise I'd have at least 2
Nice fish ! Only suggestion is getting a larger tank that one is way too small. That way they can even get bigger and just be happy
They were separated a while ago. Lost the dempsey about a year ago unfortunately and gave the polleni to a friend.
i have so many baby ebjd , and im going to export this fish if they age come to 1 month old ..
Did you ever mate either of these? Both quality looking fish... Would def be good to get their genes back into the mix...
I dont believe these two can or will cross breed
How did you get them to survive to adulthood? They are so fragile
The electric blue was tough to keep. He was very fragile. I was vigilant in making sure they had a 30% water change almost every single day for 5 years
@@TheEricInman thats amazing. I tried them twice, never had one make a month. They just aren't meant to exist I think
@@paulhopkins1905 I got some from local fish stores around my area in South Carolina and they never lived to maturity. This one I ordered from live aquaria online, it’s a store in california and I had two make it to adult hood out of 3! One was much more fragile than this one though and only made it about 2-3 years
@@paulhopkins1905 they arent meant to live long though. It’s like being an albino or something
@@TheEricInman I've had albino oscars live 10 years. I think there are other genetic issues with EBJD's
They are both stunning that polleni would destroy the jack though given the chance
He tried, thats why they were seperated
Are electric blue Jack Dempseys hybrids?
They are natural occurring genetic variants of regular Jack Dempsey’s. It’s a recessive gene that is bred out to be expressed phenotypically. In short it’s like having a red head fish.
Wow redhead is good; id say more like a albino person.
not a remotely suitable tank for this fish
Show me your 11” EBJD and we’ll talk
