I've always loved watching Kelly's journey from the first audition to 20+ years later to now - a talk show host, grammy winner, mom of 2, millions of albums sold worldwide, and 9 studio albums
Some of the best music of the generation came out of American Idol and I watched it all happen live with everyone else. That feels more special then a record being put out by someone already established. That desperation isn't there in the same way or isn't at all.
Adam's version of "Tracks of My Tears" brought tears my and my wife's eyes" Oh, and I'd say fronting Queen sort of shows how REALLY GREAT HE IS! Really like Haley's Led Zeplen image.
Adam's Mad World honestly made me cry. I believe this was the last week he tried to win. I personally believe he helped the winner win. This guy got exponetially better and Adam played it safe. I think he wanted to be himself and not some "Idol" that didn't fit his mold.
@@aaronlawrence3274 I forgot this performance and I'm going to listen to it. He was so amazing in this song. One thing I don't like about AI is that they have these stupid theme weeks. So glad to see Candice on here! Truly one do the finest singers this show has ever seen. Her performance of Lovesong was world-class. I feel like Tamyra Gray ‘House is not a Home’ should be on this list- that was a real game-changing moment in the very first season. David Cooks ‘Billie Jean’ was out of this world too.

I had a health crisis during his AI run where for a couple MONTHS I didn't know if I'd ever be able to draw again, and being bedridden to my dad's recliner the only thing that got me through the long nights alone in the living room was listening to his version of Mad World on repeat, so it's a very special song for me. Sorry for the info dump! Adam just has a special place in my heart. 😅
David Archuleta's Imagine should be on the list. He has the voice of an angel and poured so much into that performance and took a classic and truly made it his own. I can't believe it's not even an honorable mention

I often think about Simon's prediction that Carrie would sell more records than any previous idol winner. Not only was that true, but she would also sell more records than any winner after her too!
In this video they said Kelly was the biggest star. It depends on what you mean by star. Carrie is the biggest in terms of selling records and probably money. I've watched that season and when I saw that cover of Candice that traumatized my brain. It's been so many years and I keep reminding it every certain time and I keep singing her cover. Missing 2 of the greatest performances! Constantine Maroulis singing Bohemian Rhapsody and David Cook with the Billie Jean cover of the late great Chris Cornell
I remember being gob-smacked at the end of the performance. I knew I was watching something unprecedented in the moment. And while there have been MANY other idol performances of this caliber, this one stands out as it was the first MAGICAL one. :)
Really. Who is Simon? No one with any personal talent. Jennifer Hudson has become one of her generation's most incredible talent. He sees her boot in his mouth everyday.
Yessh.. summertime by fantasia is absolutely the best performance ever on american idol.. but there is another legendary performance that didnt mention here... Circle of love by zoanette johnson.. she is very underestimated by everyone from the audition but surprizingly give great performance when sing that song ..
Lots of great singers, but let's get real here: the best all-time performance on American Idol was the audition by Angie Miller singing her own song at the piano "You Set Me Free". A true artist performance, not just a singer.
This was an iteresting compilation with some fantastic choices. Others could include Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Katharine McPhee, Imagine by David Archuleta, Band of Gold by Kimberly Locke, I Who Have Nothing by Jordin Sparks, and A House is Not a Home by Tamyra Gray
If “Summertime” by Fantasia isn’t on here the list is invalid. That performance she did on the floor literally united the entire country and it was clear she was going to win!

So many great performances over the years it's difficult to narrow down to just a few. For me the best contestant ever was Adam Lambert. Every time he performed it was an event. I think Casey Bishop's performance of "Live Wire" is in the top 25. Too many country white guys with a guitar won who were not the best in their seasons. Also loved Gabbi Barret's version of "Little Red Wagon". I think last season's Will Mosely will be the next big star to come out of AI. Was disappointed to see that Bo Bice's career didn't take off. Still fondly recall his rendition of "Whipping Post" after all of these years. And of course there is Carrie Underwood- knew she would be a star the night she won and sang with "Rascal Flats"
Pia Toscano's "I'll Stand by You" would definitely be high on my list, and "imagine" by David Archuleta would make it as well, but I loved your list. Maybe my number one would be Hailey Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun".

oh my goodness yes i loved her rendition of that
Yes! That is one of my favourite Idol performances of all time. She was stunning
Missing 2 of the greatest performances! Constantine Maroulis singing Bohemian Rhapsody and David Cook with the Billie Jean cover of the late great Chris Cornell
Fantasia did a remarkable job with Summertime
It's one of my favorite songs. I wanted to give her an ovation in my house. It was phenominal and she absolutely deserved her win.
agree
I agree; I believe that performance cemented her winning
I remember being gob-smacked at the end of the performance. I knew I was watching something unprecedented in the moment. And while there have been MANY other idol performances of this caliber, this one stands out as it was the first MAGICAL one. :)
@@grirl007 yes she was amazing u should check out her recent songs like The WAY AND Fighting from her Sketchbook album its amazing also
joshua ledet’s no more drama was sth else imo, letting loose but still being in control of his vocals
I would place Adam Lambert as number 1!
he is good but nothing is beating Fantasia summertime
I concur. I think Mad World was better than all others
I would place him as number 1 idol contestant, as well.
Chris Daughtry Walk the Line deserved at least an honorable mention
Chris Daughtry doing "Innuendo" by Queen was EPIC
Really.
Who is Simon?
No one with any personal talent.
Jennifer Hudson has become one of her generation's most incredible talent.
He sees her boot in his mouth everyday.
What about David Cook Billy Jean?
Clay Aiken doing “Starry, Starry Night” was one of my favorites.
Me too, but I liked every song he sung.
I can't believe Bo Bice's "In a Dream" A CAPELLA version isn't on here! Truly one of THE BEST performances EVER on Idol!! Shame. :-/
Loved Bo so much! I loved him much better than Carrie! I loved how exciting he was to watch and he was gorgeous too!
i agree...love Bo Bice as I have him on my playlist.
My favorite performance of all time on Idol! I really wanted him to win. I saw the AI concert after this season and he blew Carrie away.
No Kidding. That was an amazing performance.
Yes, Bo was my fave, he should be here!
Kelly clarkson first American idol winner
Siobhan Magnus Paint it black still one of my fave performance
Katherine MacPhee - Somewhere over the Rainbow
Agreed
Adam Lambert all the way. He is masterful.
What about Imagine by David Archuleta from Season 7?
Clay blew me away ❤
How did Katherine McPhee's Somewhere Over the Rainbow not make it in?
Her version is my all time favorite
Absolutely!!
She also had the best stage presence and the way she took her ear monitor thing out!! 🔥
Then she married that 80 year old man that groomed her
Carrie Underwood's performance of "Alone" should have been at least top 5.
Katharine McPhee’s Over the Rainbow is one of my favorites. 😮 Jessica Sanchez’s I Will Always Love You is also fantastic. 😊
One of the best put together and narrated videos on TH-cam. I was both surprised and entertained. Loved it.
Pia Toscano's "I'll Stand By You" will always be my favorite Idol performance.
Yessh.. summertime by fantasia is absolutely the best performance ever on american idol.. but there is another legendary performance that didnt mention here...
Kathrine McPhee's Over the rainbow was outstanding!!
Yes! That was beautiful. She and Kelly are the two I always remember from Idol.
Trent Harmon Chandelier cover is perfection!
If “Summertime” by Fantasia isn’t on here the list is invalid. That performance she did on the floor literally united the entire country and it was clear she was going to win!
Yep it's on there and its number 1
Number 1
I thought her rendition of Elton’s Something About The Way You Look Tonight should have been released as her own version it was amazing.
Remember how we only had to watch that “Summertime” vocals by Fantasia-never watched the show again until the season finale.
@@sandranorman6451 Yeah I still vividly remember watching that Fantasia performance live and my mom tearing up by the end. EVERYONE was buzzing about it the next day at school. It was a masterpiece
Jordan Smith must be in the top 5 with his versions of Chandelier, Set Fire to the Rain, Halo, and of course Somebody to Love. Any one of his performances blows most of these away!
And yep, I realize Jordan was The Voice. 🙂
You forgot Chris Daughtry
Is a real shame he did not win that year
The disrespect to David Cook's Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey.
ALL OF THEM WERE AMAZINGGGG🥰🔥
Let’s go Haley and Jena! Most underrated ladies of idol! Also I make similar content 😅
Yaaas you’re my actual favorite TH-cam channel
For me it will always be Hailey Reinharts House Of The Rising sun. Absolute perfection!
My favorite too.
Yes such a talent and so incredibly beautiful!

Clay should have won. He was robbed! He was always safe on the show and gave 100%.
Pia Toscano's "I'll Stand by You" would definitely be high on my list, and "imagine" by David Archuleta would make it as well, but I loved your list. Maybe my number one would be Hailey Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun".
Thank you for Candace Glovers ranking...I saw this and have thought it was the BEST... performance ever on Idol..She kills it!!?
There’s so many you forgot
Jessica Sanchez: I Will Always Love You
Pia Toscano: I’ll Stand By You
David Cook: Billie Jean
Jordin Sparks: A Broken Wing
Caleb Johnson: Dazed and Condused
Fantasia absolutely blew it! I have heard performances, but that was..EPIC!.
Great job! It would also be nice to be able to listen to the whole performance after your comments. Perfect choice of singers!
Ok. We'll never agree on these, but Danny Gokey's "You Are So Beautiful" is #1 for me. Still hits so good! Also - Jordin Sparks "I Who Have Nothing," and David Cook's "Billie Jean" and "Eleanor Rigby" are also in my Top 10.
My top 80/ 45 women. No order. Kimberley locke. Christina christian. Jena irene. Kree Harrison. Crystal Bowersox. Diana degarmo. Jurnee. Alyssa wray. Adanna duru. Jayna elise. Melinda doolittle. Adam Lambert isn't number 1? Then what's the point? Although I agree that the number 1 pick is pretty good.
Nikki McKibbin 🔥
"Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles
