I focus on my breathing too much and can't stop manual breathing which leads me into hyperventilating panic attacks until i nearly pass out

We are sorry to hear your struggles. Try these exercises though and they will help you stop hyperventilating and stop your panic attacks when you feel them coming on.

Very interesting. This happened to me today at the gym, I started wheezing and gasping for air my trainer didn’t know what to do. I cupped my hands and brought my shirt over my mouth and nose and breathed and felt instantly better. I couldn’t understand what happened but I’m glad this video pretty much assured me I instinctively did the right thing

      Great instincts @annabrooks6040,
By pooling carbon dioxide you were able to increase its concentration in the air you were breathing, improving oxygen uptake in the blood, opening the blood vessels and ensuring a quick recovery.
Also, by using your hands (instead of the old brown paper bag method) oxygen could still be breathed safely.
Well done and thanks for the comment.

This is my first time i encounter that hyperventilate overthinking, anxiety and insomia every night.

They can all be connected @raizokimonohard008.
Dysfunctional breathing and insomnia are usually connected in some way, varying from person to person.
We have seen how effective functional breathing can be to combat anxiety and the over active mind.

When I am panicking, I notice that I am holding my breath, not breathing faster. Are their exercises to help prevent that reaction?

In other videos I have watched Patrick does mention shallow, suppressed breathing (which is what I suffer from too), so I think the answer is yes. These exercises have helped me tremendously!

the cupping hands technique, do you breathe through nose and out with your mouth or all of it for nose ?

    • @ButeykoClinicInternational
      @ButeykoClinicInternational  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All through the nose @acialolt.
We need a small reserve of carbon dioxide (CO2) to help us calm down.
If we breathe out through the mouth, we lose too much CO2.
That's why we nose breathe and cup the mouth, to keep a higher concentration of the exhaled CO2.
However, we also have gaps when we cup the mouth, so that oxygen can still get in. We want a higher concentration of carbon dioxide but not an excessive amount.

My nose is so congested. These were calming but then after doing them I yawned more and felt like I had to take a big breath. Definitely curious about this method and going to try more, though!

When we're talking about a serious condition such as the heart or high blood pressure, we always say go slow. The breathe light exercise is the least demanding and yet very effective exercise for improving our breathing.
Here are a couple of videos on breathe light.
Benefits of light breathing short: th-cam.com/users/shorts60dM1pUPzrA
A short with tips for light breathing: th-cam.com/users/shorts4SbGwLSosAk
A longer version of the video on light breathing (and how it benefits sleep): th-cam.com/video/mzpvjPva-V8/w-d-xo.html
Light breathing is the safest way of training your breathing when you have health issues such as high blood pressure.
It is a good way to learn how to deal with air hunger in a safe way. And especially in your case, take things slow.

What if you’re 24/7 nose breathing but unconsciously really deep. So in fact hyperventilating 24/7 trough your nose?
Most instructions I run into are more focused on “attacks”

my father has been a real asshole who doesn’t care about me and doesnt do ANYTHING to comfort me while I’m crying, hyperventilating, or sobbing and guess what? The reasons I’m doing those things are because of him.
This helped so much to stop hyperventilating, thank you!
