- A subscriber sent me three identical Industrial PC motherboards. These are used to run some special software that will only work on this model of board, and repalcing them is not an option as they are so difficult to find. Only one option then, can we fix them? Let's see

CMOS reset jumper is near the RTC crystal/Bios chip
Your video showcases the true essence of storytelling. Mesmerizing!
One of the big take-aways for all of your tutorials, Rich, is the persistent checking of the the test equipment to make sure the reading you are seeing isn't a result of the device but the item under test. I feel this is an critical part of the testing process that novices (including me!) tend to forget. Many thanks from Australia.
I guess that is something I learned a long time ago the hard way. Now it is just automatic
Being an industrial motherboard, you might find that the 2 molex's on the board are actually outputs for powering hard drives etc. In my experience anyway. Not sure if connecting them to a PSU would cause issues.
I work predominantly on test equipment and industrial boards. It's common for manufacturers to use part numbers that obscure the parts origin. and have custom silk screening done so that the only numbers visible to cross-reference lead back to their replacement parts program.
That way you need a service tech from their company to fix it.
Its getting more common but it's been like that for a long time. If you can find a way to cross reference it with other numbers... Or find a hidden number on the board. And sometimes they take a standard common part characters before or after it, to make it harder to cross referance the original part number.
Similar practices are done with IC chip markings and such. They tale a super common part and change the identifying information so that you can't replace it without them. Or hide an original part number under a heat sink or something like that.
Just a thought.
Heya, 3 MB that is triple tasking lol. can't wait for part 2 😏 maybe part 3 !!!!
Hi, what's your thermal camera as I don't think it's listed in the description section?
As far as I remember the Core2 serie had no internal graphics, so you might need to plug one into the pci-e
I think you are correct with it requiring a PCI graphics card as people have issues with the connection on the graphics card/ ram on these boards stopping them from booting
Three for one... ohh no,, two videos😭😭
Richard use the force then could be two🎇🎇🎇
Having motherboards tied to software is a very, very common thing nowadays in order to artificially apply planned obsolescence. It's very common in arcade games now which are all PC-based and it's only going to get worse so get used to it. Pretty funny really, my old Space Invaders board from 1979 is still working and is easy to fix no matter what's wrong with it yet a game made just 2 years ago is already dead. Quite sad how companies have self-destructed.
Those motherboards seem to be quite rare. Only got 1 hit when searching online from a guy on badcaps forum who uses these boards to run a fruit machine. He says they are made by DFI.
I believe that is what these are used for 😉
I believe that was me
Might be outside of your area, I don't know...
For that customer it may be worth suggesting a Physical to Virtual conversion of the running OS - they clearly value having the software remain available to them.
I've seen software vendor locks as rudimentary as the MAC address of the NIC.
u can clone the mac, its very easy workaround
Yeah Detlef has offered to take a look, he is in touch with Martin
I would have connected a speaker too for beep codes.
It has an onboard speaker
@@LearnElectronicsRepair Fair enough . I commented half way through when you tried without RAM. You did a great job thus far! Hats off to you 🫡.

@@enchantededition6879 Thanks
Regarding marrying software to hardware, there are people doing BIG business nowadays cracking that stuff and removing the checks so any standard hardware works. He may want to look into that...
We've been trying for years. The software is far too locked downm unfortunately.
@@mikeoxlong3504 Hi, software dev here by trade. Its possible 😀All my T7 machines run on custom PCs with Windows 7, and yes they verify on software verification so work in real play mode. If you dig hard enough, anything is possible to bypass.
@@mikeoxlong3504 For some reason my comment keeps been removed by TH-cam so ill keep it brief, but I have successfully made custom machines for the T7 that work in real play and run Windows 7.
those motherboards are for use in fruit machines
Yes, the Barcrest Triple 7.
@@mikeoxlong3504 Thanks, I've edited the video title to include that
@@LearnElectronicsRepair Fab! Great video by the way! If you want to be really specific, this motherboard is for the Mark 7 black panther Barcrest pc.
has to be a square grid cant have a circular grid LOL
its like i have 2 of them here 🤣🤣🤣
