- Hey guys! Test ride of the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 from my local dealer M&P's Kawasaki in Swansea, South Wales.

Kawasaki nailed the styling, looks so much better than the MT10
Good video, hits all the main points. I've gone from owning an Sv650 V-twin straight to a 2016 Z1000 within 3 months, I personally think it's a fantastic bigger bike and after test riding loads of others including the Z800 & Z900, this was definitely the one for me. For anyone looking between the Z900 & Z1000 the only difference is price & weight which is why I didn't go New on Z1000 and if you look hard enough you can get great deals on the previous model like I did. Mine should arrive this week. Safe riding 🏍️.. 👍

I put a full Akropovic dual race exhaust on my SX, sans silencers. Really didn't pop much, no commander needed, real nice sound.
The only aftermarket exhausts i head on these bikes are vance & hines with baffles out and it sounds epic but very loud. I bet the akra's did sound nice
Great review yet again. Can't beat the intake noise it makes. And incredible low end grunt these have. Agree with you on the sporty feel so it's not ideal for the people who want tourers and cruisers. This bike is the best of both naked and sporty.
Thanks dude! Even in 6th going from 30 to 60 felt quicker than my mt07 if it was in 2nd or 3rd! The naked and sporty is a good combination i think but that position is not for me. I enjoyed the ride anyway
change exhaust to akra complete. it gives you - 10 KG + 10 PS. Also change the tires. It´s pretty good handling after that.

Beefy bike. 36 miles per gallon......wish I had that on my FZ-10.......I get 33 mpg......these bikes LOVE to drink!! Ah.....the POWER!!! Well done on the review.....thanks for sharing and please keep the motovlogs coming!
I am guessing you would have to be a very eco driver to reach 36 haha I am sure he had it had a quater tank i left but it was empty when i got back! Thanks man shall do :D
used to have z1000sx 2011 change to Africa twin I am regretting changing to it thinking of going back to z1000 or z1000sx
Ah that's a shame. Haven't ridden an Africa twin but they look massive. Loved the z1000sx over the standard z1000

I do a lot of night riding - any idea what the headlights look like at nice/can you see? Considering they aim down.
I am opposite to you, i never do ride at night so it's quite difficult to say how they preform. Generally looking online, there seems to be a much better response to performance than previous years
it's a great looking bike (not this color), but I am still a bigger fan of the new sx version. this is more hooligan style, but seems not to be so comfortable. think the r version is worth the more money in comparison to the z900.
I didn't totally enjoy it, maybe with a few comfort mods but you may as well get the sx version. The r version is stunning with the ohlins suspension!
yo BigBen does it sound well and would you rather take a z1000 or a monster 1200s or an brutale 800 rr or a mt10 .

I have the 2015 Z1000 and I get 34.6 to 35 miles to the gallon and no gear indicator.
Ah ok, That was about the reading i was getting when i got back to the dealer
I was getting 45mpg on my SX, with bags... 38-40mpg with a half and half ride. 6'2", 175#... I was just luggage on that bike... lol.

Great video, but your colour needs adjusting as it does not do the bike's colour scheme justice - that colour is gorgeous in reality, but in the video it's way too saturated.

Is this bike worth the extra 2k over the z900? my dad has the z1000sx great bike, I was looking at the z900 for a next bike... any opinions between the 2 :D ?
I personally think it isn't worth the 2k extra, the z1000sx on the other hand is worth the 2k extra. The sx is a toned down version of the z1000 which i quite like including rider modes, a bigger tank and a load of rider aids. The z900 is 11kg lighter than the z1000 so it makes up for the touch less bph and torque but the pulls seem very similar in both. The z900 is by far the more comfortable ride to
Ethan W, I've just bought a 2016 Z1000 and if you're looking at the same over the Z1000 it's definitely worth picking one up but I wouldn't buy brand new as it'll depreciate to quickly. Z900 is still a cracking bike but once you test ride both it's hard to go back and so I went with a 2016 model and I love it. Safe riding 👍
So which one the best z900 or z1000 for 2017?
It is a difficult decision, both are roughly the same bike with the z900 11kg lighter. For the ride, the z900 is a much more comfortable ride and feels a lot more manageable. For me, i would pick the z900

I don't think the color correction looks any better with an orange bike.
True, it is a bit to much for this colour bike. This wouldn't be my choice of colour if i had one

It is a stock colour, believe its for the 2017 models. It is a bright colour for Kawasaki this year but it doesn't come alive until it hits the sun
