In this video I get the media into the Bakki shower to get it up and running in the hope of further conditioning the water for clarity & fish health. I also take a trip to Dobbies garden center to find some plant decorations to go on the back wall of the Koi pond.

Hi Simon, Great Video and perfect timing that you have done one on Bakki Media as i have nearly finished my Bakki Shower build and have been investigating where and what media to buy. I am now going to look into the Burtons media ! Your pond looks fantastic by the way and i have now subscribed so can keep upto date 👍 Cheers Simon

hi buddy .i use that media in my shower. just brake it up throw it in and put as much water as you can over it. and with in three to four weeks you will see the difference with the fish. they will eat all day long and still be wanting more. and will grow like mad . keep it running over winter as well.

Thank you Terry for the kind words🙂 I did consider braking it up but got excited to get it in😆 I'll see how it performs and make changes if at all necessary. I can already see a change in behaviour in the fish, I've never seen them so active. And you are right about the feeding, they literally climb over each other when the food goes in 😂 Take care👍

Looking really good there that shower 👌 I'm toying between which media at the moment for the pond build have been tempted by the burtons 👍
I've not used that media. But got bacteria house mixed with the lotus media. Apparently it works better if you break it up and randomly chuck it in. Most of the time you can fit more in but that media youve got seems to fit perfectly. But what you want is more crashing water over it instead of it pouring around the media. But each to their own. I smashed mine into 3 pieces
Yes a few people have said that. I have actually now broken it all up and chucked it back in, see how it goes👌👍

hi Simon pond looking lovely .I pp my pond a few week ago and all my algae went black and smelly and fish went really I'll so I've ended up cleaning it all off did water change now fish are bouncing back so keep an eye on yours . and if I was you I would get some big saucer under your plant pot so when you water them the nitrogens don't run off into your pond.
Hi Fiona😀 The dead side wall algae seems to be being replaced with fresh already, so I'm happy in that regard. And you raise a really valid point regarding putting something under the pot, I will see to that, Thank you.👍
Nice to see the shower in the centre, helps my ocd no end lol. Looking good mate. The pond not you . Pretty sure the plants are indoor plants so bring them in Oct and put them back out in May.
It does look better in the centre I have to admit 👍think you are correct about it being indoor as it said on the label temps between 15-25c, ah well🤷♂😂 told you I was no plant expert🤣🤣 Take care

hey did you get this shower from apex koi? I want to get one but not heard good things about its quality but the JS koi one seem too expensive, how are you finding it does it clog without filter floss on top, I don't want to keep cleaning it but I am thinking my drum would keep the water clean enough for the bakki shower to run on its own pump without floss how's yours doing?
Yes it's from Apex. It's exactly the same as the JS shower apart from I believe the JS one may have an angled weir plate whereas this is flat.
I haven't had any issues with mine whatsoever, and mine doest even run through a filter first, just straight from the skimmer.
Hi Simon think i'm local to you buddy and was just wandering who sells the Burtons media? Put a Queni midi shower on 2600gal pond and 3 boxes of CSM has barely filled 2 of the levels 😲 💸💸
I got mine from my local supplier Five Acre Koi. Think it was 70 something for a box🤷♂ can't quite remember so don't quote me on that.👍
Andrew you can buy the burtons media direct of there website 80quid for 154pieces 10kg free delivery 😉
@@jasonhind4172 yes you can, I made a little boo boo in the video, I said there was 80 pieces in the box, when in fact I was thinking of the Kano media I was initially looking at😂 much more than 80 in the Burtons 👌
simon how meny water changes do you do in a week . pls
Hi Shaun. I usually do 10% per week which includes flushing out the drains also, but as I've gone onto a trickle in/out for the time being, I haven't been doing any big water changes at the end of the week like I usually would. The only water I "change" now comes from flushing the drains every week 👍

Snap the media on half and just chuck it in .. the water will track round the media the way youve put them in organised
Do you think so? I've been trying to find information/articles on shower media but can't find much.
@@UpNorthKoiPond you want as much chaos and disruption to the water as possible if its all random the water has a hard time tracking through because it will always hit a wall and have to soak through dave Eden koi didba good vid the other day on his new shower
