thank you so much for reacting to this comparison video of regine and so hyang... but to be honest its a little bit unfair for regine because some of the videos are old videos with poor audio quality and of course in some videos regine is not on her prime compared to so hyang who was young and most of her videos are in good qualities... people should also consider that people's voice deteriorate over time no matter how hard you try to maintain it. Regine is nearly 50 now but she was still able to hit her notes like whe she was at her 20's. Given the fact that she can't sustain it for long but she can be able to deliver her best, sometimes its not exactly about how high you hit the notes, most of the time it is how you connect with the song. Regine in her prime was raising her larimx above E5, also her jaw tension was causing her some problems past G#5. Regine belts are not that bad too, i heard her recent vision of love and she took a great placement on those G5s, still tense too. The only note I don't like from her is the Bb5, which is very troathy, her A5s and B5s are better. For low notes regine is better but because she has a lower tessitura than sohyang

Two singers that I utterly adore. I really don't like those "VS" videos surfing around the internet. I mean sure, comparing notes can be interesting, but trying then to extrapolate and measure from that how good a singer really is (or even worse, which is better) doesn't make much sense to me. And a LOT of people tend to do that. Singing, as well as music (and one could say art in general) is really more than a sum of its parts. We view it as a holistic experience, and then resonate with the ethos and pathos it produces. Which is pretty much the reason for different people liking different things (since everyone really is different). Each performance is different, and each performer gives his/hers artistry to it. While one can subtract from the whole and get down to the objective science of it, the process itself either obstructs or simply erases the context in the end. And that is the main reason for said videos not making much sense, and simply being a byproduct of our desire to quantify everything. Cheers..C:

Sohyang was part of another singing competition a couple of years back called "I am a singer" where basically arguably the most talented professional vocalists go on a show to compete (you wouldn't see any of the more popular idol singers here on this show). It was on this show that she along with some other very talented singers finally got some mainstream recognition (she was basically unknown til then). I would recommend Gukkasten "Ha Hyunwoo" (vocalist of an indie rock band), he also competed on the same shows as Sohyang (i.e. I am a singer & more recently King of Masked Singer). Sohyang uses head voice alot and cannot even transition the songs very well. Regine uses chest and can go head voice and can sing the lowest and the highest. You have not surely seen how Regine really sings. Plus her diction is better so songs are sang clearly. She is not Asia's Songbird for nothing. The second option is just purely on tone, so who sounds better to you on each note. Both are pretty equal... different tones on some notes. I do hear Ragine being off pitch a little more than Sohyang, and I heard one where she was sharp and flat on the same long note. Other than that, a lot has to do with the SONG, and not as much the singer when things are this close.

thank you so much for reacting to this comparison video of regine and so hyang... but to be honest its a little bit unfair for regine because some of the videos are old videos with poor audio quality and of course in some videos regine is not on her prime compared to so hyang who was young and most of her videos are in good qualities... people should also consider that people's voice deteriorate over time no matter how hard you try to maintain it. Regine is nearly 50 now but she was still able to hit her notes like whe she was at her 20's. Given the fact that she can't sustain it for long but she can be able to deliver her best, sometimes its not exactly about how high you hit the notes, most of the time it is how you connect with the song. Regine belts are not that bad too, i heard her recent vision of love and she took a great placement on those G5s, still tense too.

Two singers that I utterly adore. I really don't like those "VS" videos surfing around the internet. I mean sure, comparing notes can be interesting, but trying then to extrapolate and measure from that how good a singer really is (or even worse, which is better) doesn't make much sense to me. And a LOT of people tend to do that.
Singing, as well as music (and one could say art in general) is really more than a sum of its parts. We view it as a holistic experience, and then resonate with the ethos and pathos it produces. Which is pretty much the reason for different people liking different things (since everyone really is different).
Each performance is different, and each performer gives his/hers artistry to it. While one can subtract from the whole and get down to the objective science of it, the process itself either obstructs or simply erases the context in the end. And that is the main reason for said videos not making much sense, and simply being a byproduct of our desire to quantify everything.

Sohyang was part of another singing competition a couple of years back called "I am a singer" where basically arguably the most talented professional vocalists go on a show to compete (you wouldn't see any of the more popular idol singers here on this show). It was on this show that she along with some other very talented singers finally got some mainstream recognition (she was basically unknown til then).
I would recommend Gukkasten "Ha Hyunwoo" (vocalist of an indie rock band), he also competed on the same shows as Sohyang (i.e. I am a singer & more recently King of Masked Singer). He actually holds the record for the most wins on King of Masked Singer (9 times - 18 weeks).

Sohyang uses head voice alot and cannot even transition the songs very well. Regine uses chest and can go head voice and can sing the lowest and the highest. This is stupid to compare, even the comments prove how casual follower they are, singing is not just about hitting high or low notes, its how you do it and how you sound doing it, SO HYANG SOUNDS CRUNCHY SOMETIMES its not out of tune but not good to hear, if you don't know music you won't understand it. Regine Master this craft, she sounds good & natural in every part of a song, & Regine only owns that type of voice. Ya'll let's stop the fightin and spreading of false information. There's 2 ways to perceive the video, first option is comparing Sohyang and Regine on a technical level of singing. The second option is just purely on tone, so who sounds better to you on each note. If we going with the 1st option then it doesn't matter if the video is biased, Sohyang techinque-wise is FAR better than Regine. If we going with the 2nd option then that's totally subjective to who sounds better to your ears. I ain't no Regine hater so ya'll Regine stans better not come at me for that lmao.

Both are pretty equal... different tones on some notes. I do hear Ragine being off pitch a little more than Sohyang, and I heard one where she was sharp and flat on the same long note. Other than that, a lot has to do with the SONG, and not as much the singer when things are this close.

Her tone might annoy u since she's a gospel singer with a loud and full vocal but being nasal is a no. It's a thing called twang.
