You don’t need this to file.. Send your prepared taxes to the IRS fed ex is fastest or return receipt requested and that’s it. It may take a while to have your info verified but it will update your info with them at the same time.. All will be updated from there. Updating all your info to one permanent location will resolve your issues.
I checked today 10/12/2022 with 3 of the most advertised accountants in my area (Asheville NC) and 2 had never heard of this (or would not admit to it ) and the 3rd offered little help.

I love how you tell us to upload the photos without showing the phone screen and how to do that. Also, we see the back of the phone through the whole process, so we cannot really see the screen and what is happening. This did not help me at all. I have a serious problem that needs to be resolved by the IRS and I feel like I am blocked at every level. It took about eight months for my taxes to be received and acknowledged by the IRS. Now I need to file an amended tax form and I am afraid that the IRS is going to take action against me when I really don't owe them any money. If I use the US Postal service, it may take up to six months for this to be resolved. What has happened to the IRS?
Aside. I was not so impressed with the ID.me website. Some issues. I couldn't "See" the entire page shown to access the "next" or "continue" button on the bottom...until I finally found out I had to change the screen size to about 75% for the entire page to show up. This is nuts. Then...when I tried to upload my driver's license photo from my desktop....I couldn't do that either because of (maybe?)..... too large file size or because it wasn't saved as a JPG, but a PDF instead. I also waited for the "Circle" to time put before my next step...and it never worked this way; it actually worked WHILE the spinnning "wait" circle was in-play. Also nuts. The process altogether was NOT a simple , few minute matter....maybe others here can chime in.

I have done this process multiple times for multiple clients it always ends with a "change rejected " message when trying to take the selfie on a smart phone and we can get no further, fails every time. This process is very broken and the help is worthless! I'm doing the process right now and it is failing just like so many times before! Glad to hear the IRS is scrapping this piece of CACA !
If you can't find files moved to secure folder forget this procedure it does not work. Go to settings, device care, click storage, touch advanced, select internal storage, you will see a list of areas of storage, one folder called secure folder. It will indicate some amount of used space click on it and you should find your missing files. Safe vs secure they are in different areas of storage.
I have tried multiply time to upload a my ID, both with a in JPG document & with a cellphone. My picture is flat and clear, however, the irs website will not attach it?????? What can I do?

The scan did not work when I tried it. I had no idea what the colors were. After it failed, which only took about 5 seconds for the scan to fail, it would not let me continue any longer. Then I tired the video method. I could use my scan of my DL but there was no way to download another id that I could see. This took me hours and I still could find no way of continuing with this process.

I don't have a cell[hone. i got MFA work with a desktop phone. I had laptop, scanner and desktop phone. The whole process took me 4 hours. I logged in to IRS and my account. I found my tax problem. My1040x never arrived at the IRS.
My problem is i created the account did everything to finish up the setup but when the biometric part starts my PC Webcam wasn't connected and the account was created anyway and now i cannot go back to that proccess and i'm super lost.

My issue. My wife and I file jointly. We both actually did receive our $1400 ( each) 3rd stimulus payment. All this is also verified by our joint bank statement showing $2800 was received. Now a non government agency has your your facial recognition data and can do whatever they want with it. For years a simple iRS password worked fine. Now the government will bet able to follow your every move you make with facial recognition cameras placed everywhere.

After finally jumping trur all loops...it says You will be contacted in 2 or 3 days for a personal video interview with a referee!! You never get that call! This is after submitting and resubmitting facial scans and photos that are repeatly rejected because they say they can read. i.e., 2 valid gov forms of i.d, (multiple submissions before acceptance) 10 scans before they were accepted, 5 codes send to iphones, social security #. All this just so I could login into my IRS account . I am now waiting for a video interview with a i.d. referee!! Please stop telling people this is easy.
So what do you do if you don't have a smart phone or a PC camera? Not everyone has those. I never got a smart phone since I don't need one and I never wanted a computer camera. So what, I can't see my blasted tax returns because these people can't see my face in real time?
I just ran into this today. Been claiming my elder mother for several years now with no issues. Now all of a sudden I need a pin number to claim her and neither of us have ever seen a number in the mail. Created the account but on the video they asked my mother what email we used which was mine and she couldn't answer it so we failed to verify her identity. Dumbest thing ever to add this crap.
This is another form of discrimination so mostly black people accounts are flagged an Id. Me claims they cannot verify after I gave them my Id and other info and they still said I canot be verified. So I have to go theu alot of red tape to sign into ssa and unemployment or irs.

I actually had to do a live zoom type call with an id.me agent showing me holding my passport. After that I got approved. Now they just let you take pics without the live interview. My application was at the beginning of the program; maybe they are not that strict anymore. I do value that IRS account.

This is not as easy as they make it out to be. They ask you to wait to talk on a video call.
Never got it to work. Had to Zoom with an ID.Me employee to verify.

ive been robbed 80 dollars by a fake scam cell phone website yet i cant get a simple transcript with my id and bill in hand by the IRS 🙄
So what do you do if you don't have a smart phone or a PC camera? Not everyone has those. I never got a smart phone since I don't need one and I never wanted a computer camera. So what, I can't see my blasted tax returns because these people can't see my face in real time?
I just ran into this today. Been claiming my elder mother for several years now with no issues. Now all of a sudden I need a pin number to claim her and neither of us have ever seen a number in the mail. Created the account but on the video they asked my mother what email we used which was mine and she couldn't answer it so we failed to verify her identity. Dumbest thing ever to add this crap.

This is another form of discrimination so mostly black people accounts are flagged an Id. Me claims they cannot verify after I gave them my Id and other info and they still said I canot be verified. So I have to go theu alot of red tape to sign into ssa and unemployment or irs.
Well, doesn’t work if you are overseas and don’t have a US or US territory phone number. Great for government tracking information however!
I refuse to do a video selfie for the government - what will they require next - for us to dance a jig, twirl around? Not doing this.

The Concept is great security but in reality, it’s seriously a DUMB idea…. Peoples facial features do change often… people lose & gain weight… grooming such as hair styles change … men sometimes like to grow facial hair … and let’s not forget the aging factor…. But anyway …. Another wasted tax payer’s dollars at work

I was able to finish the process, got the video call, but now every time I try to input my 6 digit code I get an error message saying that the code is invalid.
How do I fix it? Cause they sure the hell ain't gonna.

I actually had to do a live zoom type call with an id.me agent showing me holding my passport. After that I got approved. Now they just let you take pics without the live interview. My application was at the beginning of the program; maybe they are not that strict anymore. I do value that IRS account.
