Why I Removed My Avocado and Peach Trees

Who doesn't love avocado? Or a juicy, delicious peach, right off the tree?
When I found out about the Aravaipa Avocado, which is a variety acclimatized to the Arizona desert, I had to have one. The thought of harvesting avocados from my own backyard seemed magical.
I've also had a Dwarf Bonanza Peach tree for several years and the fruit was amazing. One summer we filled an entire laundry basket with peaches. I had to eat 5-10 per day just to keep them from going bad. They were SO good.
While the appeal of both trees is obvious, there are several downsides to each as well. Today (and by "today" I mean a week back in April of '24) I ripped out both trees and I'm restarting the learning with two new plants...buckle up!
