  • A special feature behind the scenes at Rotosound, taken from issue 52 of Guitar Interactive Magazine this special feature looks at how guitar strings are made and takes a walk through the history of Rotosound.
Since 1958, Rotosound has been a market leader in string making all across the globe. Often noted for their bass guitar strings,
Rotosound produces many varieties of guitar strings that provide a huge range of tonal options for both electric and acoustic players alike.
With the brand approaching its 60th year in business, Guitar Interactive takes a trip to their Sevenoaks factory to get a closer look at how Rotosound make their products with the help of CEO Jason How.

This is a great story and I love the amount of handwork that goes into the product. It's lovely to see a family owned company so committed and doing well.

Thank you so much for making this video. Made 5 years ago and only 23 comments?? I am ashamed to say I didn't even know Rotosound were such a staunchly British make, nor that they had such an extensive range, nor that Guthrie Govan endorses them. I will definitely be checking out the Roto 9s and the British Steel 9s. I love the idea of "throwing away the paper envelope for the guitarist". Such perfect sense. I have also worked in book conservation and I know modern paper is acidic, so no surprise it promotes corrosion. Thanks again for turning me onto this brand.

Rotosound strings have featured on almost all classic albums and Jason is such a humble and genuine guy. I never knew of such variety though, I'm going to have to check out the steels. I know they have a new type now called UltraMag, I want to try them too!!

I just bought a set of Jazz bass 77 flatwound strings. Roto sound swing 66 strings was the first set I ever bought back in 1983 for my Rick 4001.

Great video, I did start out with rotosound about 30 years ago, but somehow lost my way about 10years ago, anyway I just stripped my main guitar on Saturday and discovered I was out of a full set, so took to the internet and saw an excellent offer of 3 packs of rotosounds with a free strap, what a offer, I've already ordered six boxes over the weekend and am so excited about receiving them, onwards and upwards 🤘🔥

Best Bass strings EVER! I love my Rotosound Funkmaster 66 strings... it's a pity they don't have a larger range of gauges of double-ball ends for my headless 5str basses, I use Status Graphite DBE's.

Great strings ! I did have some trouble with the high E breaking, but fortunately every Roto set comes with an extra E string.
